Checking out the St. Nicks Alumnae Association page on Facebook. They're moving back to AMK St 13 in June 2012! And 校长still looks exactly the same, with her rather endearing but super lor suo speeches...
Suddenly miss my St. Nicks days so much! :'(

I was randomly trying to recall the students' pledge in Chinese and could only remember it in bits and pieces. The 2nd and 3rd lines were the more familiar ones, but it took me a while before I remembered how the pledge started off hahaha. I mixed it up with our national pledge in Chinese... (我们是新加坡公民 誓愿 不分种族、言语、宗教。。。）

So I dug out my students' pledge card (yes, I still keep those things) to verify.

For good measure, here's the English one:

We, the pupils of CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls' School pledge that:

We will strive for excellence, always working hard to achieve all round development and balanced lives.

We will be good daughters at home, loving and respecting our parents and all other members of our families.

We will be good students in school, loving and respecting our principal and teachers. As fellow studnets, we will be sisters to one another.

We will, as a mission school community, strive to promote truth, justice, freedom and love, always upholding our school motto, Simple in Virtue, Steadfast in Duty.

And we will be dedicated and committed to the security and future of our country, always working towards building a nation that is gracious and continually progressing.

That last line totally didn't ring a bell at all?!! LOL.
Is my memory bad or did the card print it wrongly?
I still remember trying to memorize the pledges as a young and toot Sec 1 kid. Fond memories. Hahahaha.

10 years on, do you still remember the words that we recited every morning?

I think they are pretty good personal values to live by. I would like to think that I have been living by these values for the past 10 years of my life. A bit fail at the 温文尔雅、高贵大方 part though. But improving! LOL.
