Today is an important day and I must mark it down!
My children-hating self came to the realization that not all babies are noisy crying bundles! :O
Some are actually quite cute!
My OM brought his grandson to my workplace today and to the kid's credit, he was actually quite a cute toddler. And he can waddle around! And most importantly, HE DIDN'T CRY. He looked quite inquisitive waddling around. A bit like our bears! Hahahaha :p
Haha ok so maybe my "okay-ness" with babies is subject to certain conditions but it's an improvement from the old "oh it's a baby. so?" days!

Think that more or less summarises my year.
(this must be the shortest year-end wrap up/reflection I've done LOL)
History has shown that odd years are better than even years (for me), but I wouldn't say this year was particularly horrible. It could have been better if I didn't get that bad fall or if I didn't develop my usual allergic cough (which cost me $280!!!!) but other than that, no bad things happened and for that I should be grateful.
Next year should be a rather busy year filled with wedding prep. Preparing to get married hasn't really hit me hard (yet). Now it's just a ring on the finger and the occasional wedding prep talk. The hectic part would be the 6 months before the big day! The Engaged Encounter was a good way of easing me into what it entails to be a married person and like the slogan says, a wedding is a day but a marriage is a lifetime.
I used to think and was all prepared to remain happily single, spend my days as it comes, maybe have a hamster or two, go for adventures, try new things, jio my friends to go on holidays, and leech off my parents by staying with them till as long possible LOL. Sounds good right? And it still sounds good to me! Hahaha. Trying to find money to finance the wedding, the dinner, the house, the renovations, where to stay... blah. All these were not part of the Plan. But it's OK! Having a loved one to go through life with you gives it a little more meaning and I guess, something to look forward to each day?
I can already forseee the greatest challenge for me in the next 5 years - starting a family (GULP). I really really really really really have no affinity for kids and I don't like them much. Now the challenge is how to reconcile this mindset with the fact that I may end up with my own motley crew some day (DOUBLE GULP). HOW TO PARENT THEM YOU TELL ME. I will probably end up screaming at them till they all hate me. I still don't think I'm self-sacrifical enough to be a parent. Our Slumpy, Squishy and Rolly are good enough for me!
2015 is the year I turn the big 3-0. I can't think of anything else on my to-do list that I want to accomplish before I turn 30. Of course I still hope to continue visiting at least 1 new country each year. Oh yes! I hope to step into the European continent haha. Have never been to Europe! Even my 16-year-old sister has gone to Spain and back. Looks like skydiving will have to take a back seat till about 2016 or later (need to save money). Oh man my life gets less exciting as I grow older :(
Oh and I need to lose weight.
297 days to the big day my app says!

Here's to a happy, fabulous, skinny and fulfilling 2015! I hope!
I told my mother I don't like kids and hope never ever to have any and she says that my thinking is "不正常".
Yah anyway she doesn't know that I have such a strong aversion towards kids. Surprise surprise, I've already started disliking them when I was a teenager. So she tried to pry and find out the root of the problem.
I mean kids are largely irritating, noisy, difficult and expensive to raise; they drive you to your grave early, and you have to be responsible for that human being who might turn out to be disappointing and a shitty member of society. You worry about their education, who they mix with and give yourself all sorts of unnecessary stress. This was what I observed over the years. If you can't be a good mother, then don't give birth to the kid.
But I think what sparked this immense dislike is probably due to the birth of my little sister. There, I said it. I think that change of events and family dynamics made me more psychologically unstable than I realized. LOL.
Then again I think it lies in my personality. Zero maternal instincts. Zero need to coo at babies. Zero need to want to carry them. Therein lies the conundrum. Our personalities are developed from the spate of events that happen to you, or are they inborn?
It could also be because I am self-centered and selfish, and do not see the need to care for another fragile human being and take the time to nurture it. That one, I can give no excuses.
Of course, this is purely my personal and very selfish opinion, which I would say is not the way the government wants its fertile demographic to think. So go forth and populate! In fact, I've received good news from a close ex-colleague that she's expecting a Dragon kiddo this year! Heartiest congratulations are in order! :D I will definitely be visiting her when she pops but I've already made a caveat to not expect me to carry the Dragon kiddo. Heh.

I is back from Bali and I have nothing to update about my boring life. Got stuck with a wailing baby on the flight back. And a seat that doesn't recline. Bloody uncomfortable. Don't ever choose seats that are one row in front of the emergency exit! Good thing my MP3 player managed to drown out most of the baby's wails, even if my death dagger stares didn't shut her up.
Kind of hooked onto online shopping these days though. There goes my cash! :(
Eyes watering from all the smoke coming from the living room. I hate the smell of stinky incense! Hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate x 1000000000.

Spotted on the bus today:
Boy drops water bottle, and predictably, it spills.
Boy shouts loudly (and rudely) at mother - loud enough for the whole bus to hear: "我不要用这个bottle了啦!!!"
Hello, like it's your mother's fault that you dropped the bottle?
What a nasty piece of work. I would dearly love to dangle him upside-down (assuming I have the strength to do so) and give him a hearty smack.

BUMMER. I was looking forward all week to Saturday - mainly for the sleeping in late part, just like the good ol' times - then I am suddenly asked to work tomorrow. Morning. At 830am!!! ARGGGHHH.
That's two consecutive Saturdays where I don't get to wake up late!!! *angry*
The Harry Potter movie is out, and I haven't watched it! *stomps foot*
Speaking of foot stomping, there was this kid on the train 2 evenings ago who kept stamping his foot and throwing tantrums. I think it was because there weren't any seats for him. Finally, a pregnant lady alighted at Dhoby Ghaut but the brat still continued to stomp his foot and screaming. I wonder if the pregnant lady had second thoughts about having children after witnessing that episode.
Needless to say, I was pissed at the brat because I was standing there trying to sleep and looking like an idiot while at it, and then there's this empty seat right next to me but I can't sit down because there's this kid who is standing right in front of the seat - not sitting down, but not letting others sit too!
I really feel sorry for his mom.

Tomorrow! I will be laying my hands on a copy of Dongwan's album. YAY! Then I will drool and look all dreamy and happy and start spazzing, and you can expect not to hear from me for a few more days because I am busy drooling and staring at his pictures. Hahaha.
Have I mentioned that I lovelovelove his album? :)

Oh yah today is Friday the 13th.
Today somebody told me
"I feel like in university, the weeks pass by very quickly."
How true. When I was working, days were long and weeks were longer. But in school, every week is a non-event. It's already October and soon 2006 will be over. My impression of 2006 is probably more vague than that of 2005. Am I getting Alzheimer's?
I wonder why old people and aunties are so terrified of sitting on a seat that someone just vacated. Will it give them piles or something? Or are they just afraid of a stranger's body heat? My daily observations on the train show that old people and aunties would perch their butt right on the edge of the seat and continue sitting that way for at least the duration of one stop.
My daily observations on the train also show lots of screaming babies. There was one that was super annoying. She sounded like a broken record, screaming (and I mean screaming because I could see that the tiny tot was bellowing at the top of her lungs - think strained veins on her throat) MAMA every 5 seconds or so when she couldn't unbuckle her pram's safety belt. And then the mom would unbuckle it, the tot would buckle it and scream MAMA again; the mom would unbuckle it, the tot would buckle it and... ad infinitum. Bleargh.
You can see why I detest kids.
My daily observations on the train also show that kids are really growing up too fast. I wonder why they are in such a hurry to act so grown up. Is it very fun to act teenagerish? Oh I don't know, I just think kids should act and dress their appropriate ages. I am an old fudgy-dudgy who doesn't like the brats that the new generation is turning into.
I probably remember more things that I observed while travelling on the train than what I learn in school. Boo.

There was this annoying toddler sitting next to me on the train. And I really don't like annoying kids. See, what the kid did was to start burying his head into my side, and I am like WHAT THE HELL?! I don't even like people to poke me in the side, much less have a kid whom I don't even know grind his spikey head into me. Secondly. The kid was eating some kind of chocolate, and of course his fingers are all grubby and dirty. Guess what? He started patting me on my shoulder and my elbow! UGH! Thirdly. As a kid, his legs would naturally not be able to reach the floor, so his feet would be kicking my thighs and legs!
Sigh. I really don't like kids. Some kids are okay if they just remain quiet and good, some kids are just PLAIN ANNOYING, and some just get too close for comfort.
Get the kids away from me!!! AHHHHH!!! *runs away*

I was looking forward to a nice nap on the train on my way home from school today... but it didn't materialize because of noisy, boisterous, annoying KIDS.
This little boy and little girl boarded the train at Chinatown with their grandma and mother... wahlao, then they started using the grabpoles to twirl around and ran about the carriage and made SO MUCH NOISE that I couldn't sleep! GRRRRR! What's worse, they kept jumping up and down the vacant seat beside me! I was so close to shooting them Dirty Looks but while my head was reeling with all the ideas that I have to exterminate them I decided to rearrange my face to potray a look of calm... wahahaha.
I'd kick them out of the carriage if I could... IMO kids should be seen and not heard! Er well I was a rather seen and not heard kid myself... and I am sounding like a tyrant... but I do feel like a evil witch, much like those in The Witches book by Roald Dahl, whose mission is to get rid of all the little children in the world. All those annoying gits! I have ZERO patience with naughty children and I just want to smack them hard everytime they piss me off. Just like I have ZERO patience with my little sister, who can be really annoying when she wants to. Gah!!!!! You'd think that I'll be more immune to their irritatingness having lived with one for almost 8 years... but NO! I think I'm even more tuned to their irritatingness!!!
Dammit I think I sound like a crazy, evil, psychotic witch... hmmm... hey I think I am!
Wahaha, be wary of unconcerned and taciturn people, for who knows what Deep Dark Thoughts are rippling through their evil minds...
