There isn't much to blog about. But it's the end of the month, so I thought I should blog something to round off the August archives neatly. Haha.

My little sister is sick and so she's being a brat. She's a brat most of the time anyway, so actually there's not much difference.

Being the slacker I am, I decided to give myself a very free semester and dropped the 7-hours-a-week Japanese module. The slacking's just a nice way to say that I cannot cope with module because I am too lazy to devote time to it.

So when I complain during the next two semesters about the workload of 6 modules, please direct me back to this post and tell me that I deserve it.

I also spotted a woman on the MRT who kept peeling the leather off her handbag and conveniently littered the floor with those little scrapes of leather or whatever material that is. Then she shuffled her feet and tried to push the little scrapes of leather under the seats. Why is this important? Ah well I don't know why this is important, I only know that it made me feel very annoyed. So I stared at her peeling away at her bag. I think her fingers were just itchy. Peel, litter, glance around ever so surreptitiously, and shuffle feet. So I tried to give her the dirtiest look I could muster because I don't like people who litter.

I also went to Bugis Village yesterday because I got bored with my wardrobe. Most of the things there are for XS-sized girls, so I couldn't find anything nice. Speaking of which, I observed today that a lot of girls have skinny waists. For most days of the year, I don't really care about other people's skinny waists. But today I just see skinny waists everywhere! Yanz has a skinny waist. Shuhui has a skinny waist. How did they achieve their skinny waists? Good metabolism? Eat like a bird? Maybe I should consider eating like a bird too, instead of eating like a pig.

Heck, I think I like eating like a pig too much to eat like a bird. Cows have it good man; they have four stomachs. Imagine the things I could eat if I had four stomachs! I can conquer all the buffet tables!

Today I also spent a lot of money. If I complain that I am poor, tell me I deserve it for spending so much money on beads.

Yes, this is a completely pointless entry.

And yay I love photos.

Crikey!!!!! I did it.

Yep. I've cleared away the books and stored them in the cupboard for future reference, if I ever need them.

I've stashed away last semester's notes.

I've made a list of pros and cons to reassure myself.

I am actually quite convinced already... (or am I not?)

All that's left is for me to do it!
Click the damn "Drop" button!

Stop hesitating!

[2.42am Edit: I clicked the "Drop" button, but I got cold feet, so I didn't click the "Confirm" button. Makes everything seem so final, that devastating word. I will drop. Tomorrow.]

Yay, Lecturer X has done it again! He posted an incredibly curt and rude-sounding message on the forum saying that he will not upload the lecture notes earlier and if we can't print the notes beforehand then "have some common sense and ask your friends to print/photocopy a copy for you" before the lecture. What the hell! You smelly old dingbat. You annoying git. My opinion of you has dropped to the negative range.

Last night we sprang a birthday surprise on the unsuspecting Xiuhui. I had to leave early though, so after some cake and photo-taking, I zipped home. Surprisingly 852 only took half an hour to get me from her house to Ang Mo Kio. Well there was hardly any traffic and the bus uncle was cruising his way through. I love these type of bus uncles who cruise their way through. :)

Anyway, Happy Birthday Xiuhui! :)
Mad, Yanz, please send me the photos!

I feel like I'm perpetually very sleepy these days. I fell asleep while attempting to tackle my homework last night, and woke up at 4am to finish it. Bah. I also felt as lost as Little Bo Peep's sheep during my TB tutorial today. I felt dumb and stupid. What on earth was I doing in a class where everyone was speaking in a foreign tongue fluently?

I need to wake up at 2pm and sleep at 5am. Help.

Lecturer X is incredibly, incredibly annoying. He's rude and sacarstic and impatient and unapproachable and has mannerisms like Willy Wonka. Or so my friend says.
I can't help it, he left a rather bad first impression on me.

Now I've found another thing to be annoyed about! Lecturer X does not practice the act of uploading the lecture notes well before the lecture, which most other nice, kind, considerate and genial lecturers do. By "well before the lecture" I mean at least the night before the lecture. Not on the bloody day itself! Hoi, some people don't stay at home all day just to wait for your notes to appear on the IVLE workbin okay. Some people have lessons to attend in the morning! And not everyone has access to a laptop, or stays in hall. At least be considerate. Upload the notes well before the lecture!

I'm damn unhappy with my timetable. No time for driving lessons, no time for tuition, no time to go and see the doctor, no time to buy beads. I just spotted a 12.45pm slot for tomorrow and a 2.40pm slot for next Monday! Prime time slots for the student on holiday! But not for the student with a lousy timetable. Oh how I miss snatching slots. Gives me a kick sometimes.

Got sick of reading about some boring Japan history.

Tutorials start tomorrow. Too fast, too soon.

Primary school kids have it good nowdays. Two days of holidays just because of the PSLE Oral Examinations!

I've been reading a lot of comments about the Superstar results. It seems that a lot of people don't think Weilian should be the one getting into the grand finals. So how come things turned out the way they are? I think it's the sympathy votes. It's always the controversial sympathy votes issue. According to this article at the Superstar website, Weilian's votes soared after Quan Yifeng announced the touching story about him calling the producer. Doesn't that seem like soliciting for votes? Tug at people's heartstrings and they will think, aiyah, he's not that bad, maybe I should help vote for him and you've earned a vote or two. It's like asking people to call 1900-112-6868! This is not a charity show, you know. My sister's theory is that due to the nature of his votes (few votes voted by a wide range of people, as compared to many votes coming from a single person), it is highly likely that the above scenario happened.

Alright I don't know what I'm saying. I can't explain myself very well now. His disability can be against him or working for him. Whatever it is, do you think a blind superstar will do very well?

Today was another of those days. Couldn't get my desired tutorial slot despite going all the way down to school for 5 pathetic minutes. Damn that inflexible, rigid lecturer!!! But I am quite a bad liar. I was trying to maintain a steady gaze and a steady voice while lying. The steady gaze worked somewhat, but the steady voice ended up sounding quite wobbly. I cooked up a rather pathetic excuse that I had tuition so I can't attend the tutorial but he won't let me change slots because "it is not a University-related programme". Bloody hell!!! Can't you just let one more student into the class?!?!?!

Now my timetable is damn BLEAH! I'd gladly trade last semester's timetable for this horrible timetable. 4 hours of break on even week Tuesdays. Great. Wonderful. And did I mention I was bored to death rotting in the library for that same 4 hours on Tuesday?

Anyway since the whole manual registration process only took 5 mins I was way too early for my driving lesson. Wahlao I should have left my house later, then can probably sleep for an hour more!!! Grrrrr. So I rotted in the USP computer lab with Shuhui and her friend for a while and left at 1255pm to go for my driving lesson at 240pm. On my way out of AS6 this lady asked me where AS7 is. AS7 is right on the other side so instead of giving her boggled instructions I thought I'd be nice and so I offered to bring her there.

Okay then we got to AS7 and she said something about wanting to scan something. So we went to the comp labs and tried to scan it and after I fiddled and diddled with the computers and scanners (because she didn't know how to use it) and generally wasting a lot of time, she finally got her resume scanned. I found out that she's actually a Masters student doing engineering and she's from Myanmar. The whole situation was kind of like confusing because half the time I didn't understand what she wanted. Okay so kind deed of the day -- done. By this time it was 140pm and I was going to be horribly late for my driving lesson.

Then I missed bus 96. Stupid 96, had to wait for so long for it to come. I was expecting frequencies of one bus in 3-4 mins! Then I had to wait 6 mins for the train to Jurong East. Then I had to wait 7 mins for the train to move off from the middle platform in Jurong East. BLEARGH!!!! Majorly late for driving lesson! How? Take cab again. $7 on the cab fare from Sembawang to Yio Chu Kang! Plus I was 15 mins late for my lesson! Damn lugi okay!

Dammit lah! I've been spending so much money on taxis! What the hell!!!

Does it pay to be a kind samaritan? NO!!!

And while I was having my lesson a near-accident happened. I was stuck in the middle of two lanes, right in the middle of the dotted lines, obstructing traffic. Very good.
And smart me, after reading out loud the sign "Please give way to major roads" (or something to that effect) just mere seconds before reading "Turn left on red", I saw a red light and wanted to turn left without giving way to the main traffic! *smacks head*
Luckily, the instructor was more amused than disgusted. Nice guy, today's instructor.

Rambled too much. I always ramble too much. I am still disgusted by my horrible timetable and that horrible lecturer. Did I mention that I have no webcasted lectures this semester? No webcasts!!! Bah!!!

Nobody online to shout with!!!

The vice-dean sent an email about "Problems with CORS". Hah, problems. That's putting it a bit mildly.

Do they have any idea of the frustration of the entire NUS population trying to log in to ballot for their tutorials while the website crawled slowly? How everyone was staring at their laptops only to be greeted by the message that the server is unavailable? How we couldn't bid for our desired modules and started panicking because the time was up and we still couldn't log in?

So being the "world-class instituition" (if they were world-class this stupid CORS nonsense wouldn't have happened) that they are, they're conducting a dialouge session to "hear our concerns first-hand". IT'S ABOUT TIME MAN!

Someone also started an online petition petition about bloody CORS.

And The Amazing Race 8 will be showing on September 27th, US time! So that'll be September 28th for us. Yay yay yay!!! :)

Oh yeah and what else did I want to say... my timetable sucks and I have no webcasted modules this semester. Bah!

Wahlao. I am damn upset now.

And shocked.

And disappointed.

Aghast.

Heartbroken. :(

:'(

One thing to say:

WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

~!#%*&$*^&$%^$~!:"<}{}{]][<>?"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Junyang and Xinhui did not get into the grand finals! Especially Junyang!!! Wahlao! What the hell!!!!! How can like that?!?!?!

The stupid jackpot machine flashed Junyang's face for that one heart-stopping second then it changed to Weilian's face!!!! OMG!!! I am terribly disappointed. He does not deserve this. He does not deserve to be out! His place should be in the finals! Plus it was his birthday yesterday, the poor guy. What a horrible birthday present!!!

NUSSU even sent an email out to ask us to vote for him. But did I? No. Because I am a passive fan. Arrrggghhhh! Should have parted with that $0.60 in exchange for a stupid vote.

I used to think that the female competition was going to be quite boring and Kelly would be a shoo-in until Xinhui the dark horse improved by leaps and bounds! She outsang Kelly today, surely anyone can hear that!!! Hoi!!! Why Xinhui never get in?!?!?!??!?!!

My sis told me that she heard from sources that they rigged the votes during the revival round, so that Derrick and Kelly would have gotten in no matter what. Well? So why didn't they rig it this time? Honestly, Weilian is not bad, but we're talking about SUPERSTAR here!!!

HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN?! I'm still fuming from the injustice of it all!!!

Plus, I didn't get the tutorial slot that I wanted! I was supposed to take the tutorial with Shuhui and Karen but I didn't get it! Damn irritated with myself now! Should have ranked that slot #1! If nobody swaps with me from now till 9am, I'll have to go down to NUS tomorrow to beg the lecturer to let me into the tutorial! Raaaarrr! And tomorrow's my free day too! Travelling all the way to school to try and make something impossible happen, what do you think my odds are???!
Well at least today there was an article on my favourite swimmer in the papers. That perked me up. A little.

Alright. I am damn irritated. The NUS server screwed up again! I can't ballot for my tutorials! RAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta leave my house at 1230pm for my 2pm lecture! HOW LAH! No time to ballot! It closes at 5pm!

I booked my Final Theory Trial Test for today yesterday at 4.40pm on a whim at 1am last night. Thought I might as well try my luck and see what happens. I read a few pages of the book at 3am, read a few more pages on the bus, and guess what! I passed! Yeehah! :) :) :)

:D

Now I can book for the real thing!

Still doggedly holding out for that elusive Wednesday 10.30am slot... come on strangers and strangerettes! Drop the slot!

PS: Anybody wanna watch Dim Sum Dollies? I saw in the papers that they're extending their run. I suppose I could part with $28 if I really wanted to, heh. Look at that $16.60 cab fare. *still very qi gek*

I received an email that I couldn't decipher. I've got a lecturer who doesn't send emails in good old English!!! HELP!!!! :(

Minasan

uchide te-form o benkyoo shite kudasai. Course packet no 25p kara 34p made fukusyuu (review) shite kudasai.

Course packet ga nai hito (To the students who could not buy the course packet)

Course packet wa raisyuu no getsuyoobi ni coop de katte kudasai. (Course packet will be ready after 11:30 on Monday.)

We ordered 50 copies, but it is better place an order at the counter in front of the coop to ask them to keep one for you.
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????!!!!!????!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!????
I only understand the English words. HELP!!!!!! :(

(For the uninitiated, "coop" is actually the Co-Op, the school's bookstore, not a place where you keep chickens.)

If filial piety is measured by one's willingness to visit the other set of grandparents with a gaggle (gaggle? makes them sound like geese) of other distant relatives that you never ever spoke to, I'd be ranking in the negatives right now.

I really hate these sort of gatherings.

Well maybe hate is too strong a word. I really dislike these sort of gatherings. It's a total Waste Of Time. All I do is to greet people, shove food down my throat, then spend the rest of the afternoon stoning as the numbers swell and the whole extended family crams into a tiny four-room flat. There aren't even enough chairs to sit. It's a freaking waste of time.

I can probably think of ten thousand things that I could do instead of being bored out of my mind in Jurong East. I could watch all my taped TV shows. I could start muttering to myself in Japanese. I could even start reading my GEK1002 course pack, for goodness sakes.

This is a freaking dictatorship. Authoritarian methods will only generate hate and with hate we'll all get irate, yo, yo. Where is the love? Where is the love? Where is the love? Where is the love, the love, the love?

Not a very good start-of-semester week.

My lecture today was at 12pm. I woke up at 11.30am. So I took a cab from Sengkang all the way to Clementi. The "sleep for five more minutes" syndrome cost me $16.60. :(

:(

:(

:'(

:''(

Wah! I am damn upset! $16.60 leh! It can probably see me through two weekday movies and I would still have enough left to buy lunch at a hawker centre!!! :(

I must stop hailing cabs and BE PUNCTUAL. I must be punctual for school and be punctual for driving lessons. Spent too much money these few weeks just by sticking my arm out. I must fully utilise the value of my hybrid concession pass that costs $97!!!

Well then it shouldn't be of any surprise that I was late for my first lecture of the academic year on Wednesday. Yeehah, 20 mins late. That was after Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Then today 20 mins late again even with the taxi uncle speeding through TPE, CTE and AYE. Very good man. Then yesterday somebody banged into me and my cup of milo. Then today I blurly went to the wrong LT. And was bloody lost during my Jap lecture. And to top it off I spent way too much money this week!!! Did I mention that the cab ride costs sixteen dollars and sixty cents?!?!?!?! RAAARRRRR!!!!

My ideal Top 2 male contestants for Superstar were Junyang and Derrick, but alamak. Why liddat. I am not being mean, but I think Weilian should not win the Superstar title. And now the female contestants got fight liao! At least now it's more exciting to watch.

KTV next week. I am torn between saving money and trying to harmonize. Double RAAAAARRRRRRR!!!!

I didn't like the Willy Wonka that was potrayed in the movie. In my mind Willy Wonka was a sprightly old man who was off his rocker, shouting things that made absolutely no sense just for the heck of it, not the dark potrayal of Willy Wonka who looked dazed and thoughtful whenever he has one of his flashbacks.

Oh sharks, forgot to ask for money to buy my texts. :(

I will regret this tomorrow morning but I have an irresistible urge to blog. Long rambly post ahead.
I've got a 10.15am date with Charlie and his Chocolate Factory, TEN FIFTEEN AM leh!!! Grumble mumble.

Tomorrow I will be freshie no more. Well actually I was freshie no more a long time ago, but tomorrow is official! I am no more a freshie! I can look more demure and cast knowing looks at lost freshies! I can arrange my face to reflect the "been there done that" look! And most importantly, I am a returning student who has to bid with all the other returning students for modules! ~!#$%^&*!!!!
Haha yes. I am freshie no more.

But anyway my Internet-less weekend was pretty boring. I watched 5 straight episodes of Extreme Makeover and by the time I finished watching all the noses and teeth started to look identical to me. I have one episode of Lost, one episode of ANTM and one episode of Guess Guess Guess left.

Then I tried to install the router we bought so that both the computers can go online simultaneously but I am not very good with instruction manuals, technical jargon, wires and gooblydunk. So somehow the thing screwed up and I was damn pissed because not only did the router not work no matter how many bloody times I uninstalled-reinstalled-uninstalled-reinstalled the bloody thing, when I tried to connect using the old modem it did not work too! Error 721, it said. What the hell, damn you Error 721!!!

It was a weekend and so all the technical helplines kept playing the "Press 1 for XXX, Press 2 for XXX" message. Big fat load of help. I had nothing to do! So I backed-up my photos and bummed around, looking bored.

I woke up bright and early on Monday for driving, did some right-turns, went for roti prata at Jalan Kayu, went back to the driving school for the Final Theory lesson, came home, and pestered the SingNet technical officers to death. The first guy was pretty helpful, talked a lot, and told me to unplug all the telephones from their wall sockets. The second guy that I got on both my 2nd and 3rd calls told me more gooblydunk about my phone line and the connection but ultimately the message behind it was that the router was not supported by SingNet and therefore he cannot give me any advice.

*IE crashes at this point of time*
Thank goodness for the "Recover Post" function... else I would have lost whatever I just typed!!!

So anyway, the third guy was the most helpful one. With his step-by-step instructions I managed to configure the bloody thing and I was ecstatic when he said "okay, you are connected online now". Woohoo! I was thanking him profusely over the phone and giving out shrieks of "YAY!!!" while the person probably thought that I was off my rocker.

After that enthusiastic episode, me, my parents and my little sis went to the NDP Carnival at Marina South while my not-so-little sis stayed at home. The ride there was uneventful, the event itself was also pretty much uneventful except for the fact that we were seated next to a bunch of teenagers who were smoking like chimneys. I was bloody pissed okay. 2nd-hand smoke causes more harm! They were just puffing and blowing the smoke arrogantly into the air and generally making a ruckus.

Everytime I see kids like them lighting up and taking a puff I feel very sad for them and very disgusted at the same time. Sad that they are ruining their health like that. They are so young! It is just very wrong to me. Call me naive, ignorant of the real world, etc etc, but I think they are just too young to be making rational choices for themselves. Do they think it's cool? Because it is not!!!!! Do they smoke due to peer pressure? Or do they not even know the health problems that come with smoking?

Last night I saw this young girl smoking like it was the most natural thing to do. That is so sad! Smoking is not good! And I know some people smoke to lose weight or something. That is the STUPIDEST thing I've ever heard. Why risk your health just for that few measly kilos??! Come on, you think a few kilos off the scale is more important than your lungs? Well, at least I know my body-organ priorities. Plus, smoking will make you reek of cigarette smoke. One of my driving instructors smokes, and I can detect it onces he sits in the car. That cigarette smell just fills every air molecule in the enclosed space man.

Plus smoking causes a lot of irritation to other non-smokers. Everytime I walk on the street I get very irritated when some people blow their smoke directly in my face. Makes me want to slap them with my handkerchief. I'll be glad when smoking is banned at certain public areas in the next couple of years.

That group of Chimney Youngsters totally ruined my experience last night. When they blow out their smoke they do it so arrogantly okay! Like, head tilt 30 degrees, form mouth into an oval shape, blow out the smoke gently in a stream and let the stinky smoke rise up air and pollute the air. You could see the ringlets of smoke rising up from the heads of the crowd. GRRRRR. All that's missing is a huge sign that says "Worship me because I smoke" tattooed across their foreheads. I would move to another bench, but the stands were quite filled by then.

The music was damn loud too. Machi, F.I.R, K One and 183 Club and other assorted acts came and caused young girls to scream loudly. Like I care. Machi's performance was just too damn loud and annoying and incomprehensible. K One and 183 Club's performances were too long and draggy and only served to make their fans happy. I personally think it's ridiculous to have one person in two boybands. F.I.R was not bad. Even though I could see nothing from where I was sitting the music was loud enough to be heard from two streets away. My poor ears.

Finally after watching boring performances for 3 hours, the fireworks started at midnight. I am a very lousy photographer with lousier reaction speeds so all my photographs were mostly of the dark night sky. This was the nicest one I took.

I am late, but Happy 40th Birthday Singapore :)

I am so happy I managed to get an Internet connection after 2 days!!! :D I am on a high from finally getting online. Oh how boring these past 2 days have been, without the Internet.

Pestering the people who man the technical helplines really works!!! Perseverance!!!

Sandy sent me this Hokkien song before, check out the lyrics.
It's wonderfully funny in a realistic way, and even if you don't understand Hokkien, there's the English translation!

Wei, peng yew eh, li siong ji pa ban, chin chuay ah?

Let us now go for a short break as NTU brings you these messages:

For raging hormones in hostel rooms, perhaps?

Such a lovely Thursday. Cool, drizzly, snuggly, and I woke up at 3pm. Perfect day for rotting at home!

After all that drama yesterday I managed to get the modules I wanted after plonking down ALL my points. Yes so I am very poor in terms of bidding points now. 361 points (361!!!!!) and 200 for LAJ2201 and GEK1002 respectively. This sem I spent a bomb on bidding. Others have accumulated 1000 over points and I only have 381 and 240 points in my programme and general account respectively.

So enough of bidding, I realize that I complain too much about bidding every semester.

Therefore this sem I will be doing
PL2131 RESEARCH AND STATISTICAL METHODS I
PL3236 ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY
PL3237 LANGUAGE & COGNITIVE PROCESSES
LAJ2201 JAPANESE 2
GEK1002 INTRODUCTION TO JAPANESE STUDIES
and I am considering whether or not I should do a 6th module (coz I failed one last sem).

This was Tuesday, when we went to NTU's School of Biological Sciences to spring a surprise.

This was two or three Mondays ago, at the Aranda Chalet with the Gassy girls.
(Gassy girls please check the Gassy photo album for new chalet photos.)

And this, is the photo we've all waited so long for :)

Great! The server is restored and bidding is extended to 5pm. It's still crawling as slowly as pre-crash speeds but it's better than nothing.

What a terrible day.
It is already 2.36pm and I STILL can't log in because "Sorry, the server is currently unavailable". Wahlao! I am pissed!

Thanks to all this, I won't be able to get any modules from this Round 2A because bidding ends at 3pm and I didn't manage to increase my bid points before the thing crashed!

All the three helplines have been engaged since the server crashed at about 1 something. Looks like we can't do anything about it and I am stuck with only 3 modules!

*#!^$^#@$*&!:*$!@;%*$!@;%">*$!@&;%^!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT THE HELL!!!

The CORS website is crawling at the pace of a snail! SLOWER THAN A SNAIL EVEN!!! Even freaking dial-up is faster than the rate the site is loading now. It took me 10 mins just to get from the login page to the bidding page! Wahlao!!! I missed the open bidding period!!! My heart is jumping out from my mouth!!! JUST BECAUSE THE STUPID PAGE IS LOADING SO SLOWLY!!! DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE SERVERS NUS!!!

Now that LAJ2201 is going for 201 points, I think I shall eye another module instead... 201 points! Crazy! I only got it for 1 point last year!

Now how to bid lah? HOW TO BID I ASK YOU? I can't even add or drop a module without waiting 15 mins for the stupid thing to load. I think it would take another million years for me to refresh the page. CURSES! JINXES! HEXES!

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

[Update] NOW THE CORS SERVER CRASHED!!!! @$#$%#%*&*@#%@!!!^&*!!!!!!
Tuesday, 2 August 2005 0 comments
It is now that time of the year!

*ominous voice* Bidding.

I refreshed the page barely 5 mins later and the next minimum bid for LAJ2201 shot up by 10 points!
Okay lah 10 points is not a lot considering the other horrible bidding encounters that I've had *thinks darkly about last sem* but don't we all love to hate this system that we call bidding. In fact I think I've grown to like complaining about bidding. Complaining about bidding is fun. It bonds people together over MSN while we curse those who increase the bid points (and then we follow suit by increasing bid points - it's a vicious cycle).

Anyway there's 6 more days or so before the end of the 3 glorious months of holidays. Please groan, because I was happy about not travelling to school daily, not climbing flights and flights of steps, not doing readings, not doing tutorials, not doing projects, not writing papers and not dragging my feet along the corridors of overly enthusiastic youths.

I also have to revise what I learn last semester for Japanese if I want to be able to string a sentence together without stuttering. Because I forgot every thing that I learnt hahaha.
That is provided I get the module. It still stands at 21 points now, thankfully.

Nowadays I also can't write Chinese for nuts. That's the thing about languages - you don't use it, it goes to pieces.

I'm also trying to re-read Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince. Re-reading something like HBP makes me feel happy because the first time I read it, I rushed through it despite trying to drag it out as long as I can to enjoy to book. My eyes drank up the words greedily and I flipped the pages quickly, anticipating the climax. The minor details, I don't notice them. Some parts I don't get, but I just read on. A word here, a description there. They just get omitted unconsciously the first time you read. When I re-read it, I found so many things that I never noticed during my first read. Now I can truly relax and let the words wash over me, let the scenes play in my head, note the subtle hints the author dropped, and let the pieces fit together.

And since I'm in the mood for a ramble, I finally got a new instructor today after 6 lessons of the same guy. Boohoo! I prefer my old instructor!!! I don't really like today's one, because he said something confusing about the brake and clutch. He's also not as nice and patient as the other instructor. The other instructor knows all my faults and little idiosyncrasies so it's more comforting, in a sense, to drive with him as instructor.

I almost didn't stop in time at the pedestrian crossing coz I didn't notice the pedestrian crossing, (hahaha this sentence sounds weird) and when I get kancheong I stomp my right foot down and I accelerate. I accelerate through all the sharp left turns lor, wahlao. Hazardous driving. And my gear thingee and clutch thingee and brake thingee, all no good. At least I explored beyond the boundaries of the driving centre, went all the way up to Thomson there and drove past St. Nicks, down Ave 2! But I was too harried and focused about my hand-foot coordination so I didn't notice the colour that they painted the school.

Today is Empress's birthday, so Happy Birthday! :)

I've stopped work at the music school, so now it's back to surviving on measly clinic-job pay. The folks there want us to carry on working on our free days and weekends, but I value my slacking time too much... it's a tempting thought though.

I have so many things to save for... My grand 2008 plans and the Hongkong trip that the Gassy girls are planning... And as I was trying to sort out my messy July expenditure I ended up realizing that I am not as rich as I thought. Alrighty then, HK will have to take a back seat (sorry friends).

Anyway to celebrate my one week of newfound freedom before I'm thrown back into the bleak walkways of NUS, I shall watch a lot a lot a lot a lot of TV. Right now I have 4 episodes of Extreme Makeover, 2 episodes of Manhunt, 1 episode of America's Next Top Model, Lost, and Guess Guess Guess. Add that to the daily staple of the stupid 7pm show (it's getting damn stupid but I still watch it, bleah) and the 10pm Channel U show. Oh my eyes!
