I am starting to resent the sai kang that I have to do at work.
The pretty bad dose of Thursday Blues is not helping...
Thursday is such a 不三不四 day. It's like after toiling for the better half of the week, you can see the weekend looming ahead of you... but not quite. I still have to get through Thursday before Friday comes. It's probably some mid-week/end-week inertia. Either that or I am used to a four-day week. But wait, I haven't had a four-day week for the past 3 semesters!
Thank goodness all this is going to end... soon, soon.
I'm realizing things rather belatedly these few days. It's like I'm just living day by day without exactly comprehending the dates itself. Round 0 of bidding started yesterday and I wasn't even aware. But well, Round 0 is kind of useless as we all know. The actual excitement of bidding starts next Monday, and seeing that I am stuck in front of a computer for the better half of the day, bidding shouldn't pose too much of a problem this time round. At least that's something midly exciting and interesting to keep me occupied at work.
Had to source for those rather useless things called corporate gifts in the name of work and I see the word "stationeries" on one website.
There is no such thing as "stationeries" - stationery is already plural. Same as "furniture" and oh, many other things. I used to get quite irritated when I see an '-s' added to nouns that do not take the '-s' suffix!
This can go into the column in the Sunday Times that points out the little bits of bad English in everyday life.

From the rather limited number of comments I read on mugglenet.com (like 10 comments out of 6000), it looks like I'm not the only one who is dissatisfied with the epilogue of Deathly Hallows. A darker, more dramatic ending would have been better. Anyhow, there was supposed to be a character who only manages to do magic later in life, but there wasn't any mention of such a character in the book?!
I'm itching to march to the nearest bookstore to get a copy of books 1, 2 and 4 once my pay cheque comes!
I have been having very satisfying lunches for the past two days - Soup Spoon yesterday and some Hokkaido ice cream (green tea and milk tea ice cream anyone?) + a huuuuge serving of Hokkien Mee from Central today. I think Soup Spoon is going to be my newest food obsession. $9.80 for lunch alone might be a tad expensive, but it's really value-for-money! It came with half a sandwich, a tiny tub of salad which was surprisingly refreshing coz I could taste lemon juice in it, a cup of ice-tea (I found it a tad too sweet though), a small choc wafer bar and the soup! They're very generous with the ingredients in the soup I must say... yum!
READ THIS, SAINT! When you stop wandering around Greece and get an internet connection. From JK Rowling herself (and my sentiments exactly):

"I loathe people who say, 'I always read the ending of the book first.' That really irritates me," she said. "It's like someone coming to dinner, just opening the fridge and eating pudding, while you're standing there still working on the starter. It's not on."7 more work days!

Had a Potter-filled weekend. Watched The Order of the Phoenix on Friday evening and I spent almost the whole weekend with my eyes glued to the pages of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I just finished reading it.
I remember 2 years ago when I was reading Half Blood Prince, and the frustration of having to wait a few more years to find out how it would all end, who R.A.B. is (R.A.B. is who many expected him to be...), whether or not Snape is evil... haha 2 years sure pass by quickly.
After reading it I think I am more confused. I think it's because I didn't refresh my memory on what happened in the previous few books. Didn't have time to re-read them, but I'm planning to do so soon. But still, some parts puzzle me... did Dolores Umbridge escape from the Centaurs in book 5? I cannot remember. JK Rowling did her best to tie up the loose ends, but it does feel like she's addressing all these loose ends on purpose sometimes so as to round up the series nicely.
Like a long, drawn-out battle, it has finally ended... got kind of boring mid-book, and the ending... (spoiler, highlight to read) is a bit too cheesy and happy for me! The last chapter was one of those "19 years later..." things. I honestly expected Harry to die... even though I wasn't quite ready for him to die even when I was at page 500+... in the end his "death" was kind of like... chey. It is so predictable that good will triumph over evil! But JK Rowling was really merciless this time round, I can't even keep track of the number of side characters she killed in this book.
I don't get Harry's obsession for Ginny, and he was pining for her many times in the book... but I am all for Ron and Hermoine... they are just too cute together. And we find out that Snape is not evil after all, and Dumbledore is not all that saintly. Lupin and Tonks die - that was a bit of a shocker to me. There are too many things happening, too many clues from the previous installments, but that's what I like about the Harry Potter series. It has continuity, each one draws material from past events, it builds on them, and the characters are not one-dimensional.
Yes, I really need to re-read OotP, HBP and slowly linger and comprehend the text that is Deathly Hallows... I figure I will understand more from the second read.
Better still, I need to re-read all 7 books but I don't have the complete set. Yet. :( :( :(
And this sudden spout of furious reading reminded me of how long I haven't been reading! (I guess newspapers don't count.) Ahhh this good habit I had when I was a kid... disappeared with the pursuit of other less-intellectual obsessions...
Anyway the OotP movie was not bad, but it could have been better, and they really cut out a lot of stuff... But I have come to expect a great reduction in the sub-plots and not raise my expectations too much. The gist is still there i.e. Ministry of Magic taking over Hogwarts... and I've been wanting to see the visual image of Sirius falling through the archway coz visualizing someone falling through an archway was kind of abstract for me. I also imagined Dolores Umbridge to look more toad-like. Like fat and stumpy! And Luna Lovegood to be more looney! Haha.
And so goes another week - 3rd August is looking really near now, it's within reach! Thing is, there are still 2 weeks... groan...
On a rather unrelated note, I think this thing about Garfield being jealous about Liz is so cute! Garfield looks cute when jealous hahahahaha.

ARGH, a few of my K-pop songs just mysteriously vanished from my computer.
And I didn't even realize that they disappeared into the depths of the 110001111010101s for like 2 whole months!!!
Shit man, this sucks!
All the songs from the S singers - SeeYa, SHINHWA (luckily only a few random - but hard to find - songs were lost), Shin Hye Sung, and a few of my Turbo songs are missing too... :( :( *cries a puddle*
I am very upset!!! It took me so long to find all these songs and build up my collection... :(
And I rather belatedly realized that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is to be released THIS SATURDAY. It only struck me when I was striking the days off my calendar at work. In my mind there are still many Saturdays left till the release of the book.
I am slow.
Then I realized that I have no time to read book 5 and 6 before book 7 comes. Damn.
And then I realized again that I won't be at home this Saturday! Shucks. So I can't hole myself up at home and read the book. This means I cannot have any contact with the outside world until I finish the book on like maybe Sunday or something lest I happen to see any spoilers.

As if I don't have enough rubbishy time-wasting things to entertain me during my free time, I started watching this Korean show called Super Junior Full House on YouTube over the weekend. Wahahaha. It is bloody hilarious, especially when the SuJu boys try and speak in English. They are all crazy nuts! :D
Okay... I really don't need another thing to obsess over right now. I'm halfway through Lost, haven't started on Heroes, and I have a gazillion other clips rotting in my hard drive. Haha yes I know I have no life. And I think I'm quite happy about having no life! :D

BUMMER. I was looking forward all week to Saturday - mainly for the sleeping in late part, just like the good ol' times - then I am suddenly asked to work tomorrow. Morning. At 830am!!! ARGGGHHH.
That's two consecutive Saturdays where I don't get to wake up late!!! *angry*
The Harry Potter movie is out, and I haven't watched it! *stomps foot*
Speaking of foot stomping, there was this kid on the train 2 evenings ago who kept stamping his foot and throwing tantrums. I think it was because there weren't any seats for him. Finally, a pregnant lady alighted at Dhoby Ghaut but the brat still continued to stomp his foot and screaming. I wonder if the pregnant lady had second thoughts about having children after witnessing that episode.
Needless to say, I was pissed at the brat because I was standing there trying to sleep and looking like an idiot while at it, and then there's this empty seat right next to me but I can't sit down because there's this kid who is standing right in front of the seat - not sitting down, but not letting others sit too!
I really feel sorry for his mom.
Reason 39482347621 why I hate kids.
Tomorrow! I will be laying my hands on a copy of Dongwan's album. YAY! Then I will drool and look all dreamy and happy and start spazzing, and you can expect not to hear from me for a few more days because I am busy drooling and staring at his pictures. Hahaha.
Have I mentioned that I lovelovelove his album? :)
<3
Oh yah today is Friday the 13th.

Oh yah today is Friday the 13th.
I reckon that I'm getting pretty good at sleeping while standing. My knees give way every now and then and I am probably a rather weird sight on the train, but when there are scarce resources and limited space, you gotta improvise and do what you can to catch a few winks while commuting.
Maybe next time I should master sleeping while walking!
Another sad MV from SG Wannabe that I found yesterday. I thought the girl was rather irritating at first with her incessant spinning but I read the explanations and I kind of got it after that.
Love the song though. :)
"Stay", from SG Wannabe's 4th jib - The Sentimental Chord.

Oh yah and since Yanzz tagged me again for the weird quiz and I already have 11 weird items... so here's the 12th:
12) I have this habit of filling up my water bottle everytime before I go home. Doesn't matter if I'm at work or at school. I think it stems from an inner fear that I will die of thirst on my way home or something. Hahahaha.
I think I am responsible for draining half the big tub of water from the office water dispenser.

I was at the wedding of one of the 777 couples who got married on 07/07/07. Church wedding in the morning, followed by a wedding lunch at Hyatt. The first ever church wedding and wedding lunch I've attended! But I had to wake up early on a rainy Saturday morning for it. And we all know that rainy Saturday mornings are terrific days for sleeping in. -___-
The wedding was sweet and happy and fuzzy and all those good feelings generally associated with weddings. There was one of those pipe organ thingees in the church, and when everyone started singing hymns it sounded really grand and inspiring. I kinda like the architecture of the inside.
Anyway I think the church wedding was more touching than those tea ceremonies. With tea ceremonies you don't really get to exchange vows and swear that you will love each other through thick and thin and all that. And the wedding lunch was just like a wedding dinner except that it's held in the afternoon. Food was not bad.
Like my sister, and I guess it's also because I am becoming old, weddings kind of triggered this thought of my future wedding... if I ever get married in the first place.
Plus today we saw this video of this poor dude getting sabo-ed at this bridal studio where we were having our photo taken with Shuhui.
I think I am looking forward more to attending my friends' weddings than my own. Haha.
And so the weekend swished by. Weekends are just too short! :( *cries a puddle*
Dongwan's album was out last Thursday!!! I've been looking forward to this ever since I found out that he is releasing a solo album. Yes. Half a year and now it's finally here. I spent Friday spazzing over Dongwan's new album and watching him on Youtube at work. :) Totally made my day!
Now I am left with the happy dilemma of whether or not I should get Hyesung or Minwoo's album, or both? Heh heh heh. Yes I know I am an annoying fangirl who keeps going on and on about them.
4 weeks left!

4 weeks left!
My sister returned home from her Melbourne trip on Monday night and she brought back with her (besides 1kg of nougats, 1kg of macadamia nuts and 1kg of assorted choc biscuits)...

Ta-da, Krispy Kreme donuts!!!

A dozen Krispy Kremes for me to stuff my face with!!!
(There's only half of it left now)
Had been wanting to try those after reading people rave about it on blogs and stuff. But, I think the donuts cannot survive in Singapore's weather, coz the sugar glaze keep melting upon contact with my fingers. And they were a tad too sweet. It would have been nicer if they eased on the sugar. Or maybe cold donuts are not as nice as nice fresh donuts. I think I like the Mister Donut in Taiwan more.
They make a good choice for an unhealthy snack though, I just ate 2 donuts and I'm going to sleep soon. FATTENING!!! :x
Hehe and Kang Ji Hwan's doctor character in Geum-soon is so cute!!! <3 <3 <3
He's so egoistic, but yet charming at the same time. Like his "I feel very touched when I look at myself in the mirror every morning" (refering to his good looks) and his "Cabbage Head" nickname for Geum-soon. Wahahaha. I love watching the scenes with him and Geum-soon!
I was having a conversation with one of my colleagues, she was saying that the male lead characters in K-dramas usually look very serious and cold on the outside, but inside they are kind of weird and funny! Hahahaha and I so agree. :)
It was kind of boring at work today coz our email server was down, and I couldn't get any work done since what I do is just to email people. Spent the whole day rotting. Yawn.

Another weekend! :) :) :)
Was reading Friday's Life! and saw this article on Christina Aguilera and her concert that was held tonight. Too bad the cheapest tickets cost at least $100, else I wouldn't have minded going. I like Christina's voice and her songs, but not to the extent to part with $100.
Got a haircut after work on Friday. Now my hair's a short bob! Quite a refreshing change. Actually I wanted something like Han Ga In's hairstyle in Witch Yoo Hee, but I don't have a picture... maybe next time I'll go print out a picture of her and show it to the hairdresser.
And I finally got my pay after like almost 6 weeks of slogging at that place... I can't believe The Witch didn't communicate to the Boss that I would be paid - the Boss seemed to think that I was working there for FREE. Like what the hell!!! But luckily I was thick-skinned enough to demand for my pay. In a very nice way. Else I'll probably not get paid till like even end of July.
Plus the GST credits are in! So I guess all this will be sufficient for a trip to HK at the end of the year?
The days never seem to pass fast enough... 5 more weeks, 5 more weeks!!! I wish I had something meaningful to do at work. I don't mean replying emails and dealing with this bitchy client (it's no more Mega Jerk), eavesdropping on my colleagues' neverending bitching about this other colleague, listening to their sniggers and over-reactions, and visiting Facebook every now and then. I really hate office jobs. Maybe this is one of the push factors that's making me consider a career in teaching.
Yes and I have been thinking very seriously about this teaching issue... I seem to be swinging back and forth. Gah! Life is so irritating.
Can't we just remove July from the year 2007?
