Parents bought a new TV over the past weekend! It resembles more of a LCD computer monitor than a TV actually. I think it can function as a TV and a computer monitor. One of those dual function things. Nifty.

For me though, this TV came too late. I remember 4, 5 years ago when online video streaming websites weren't all the rage yet... we only had one TV at home and I was super dependent on the TV for my entertainment needs. I think it was the 霹雳火 era. Channel U would show that silly 霹雳火 at 10pm and I would want to watch all the Channel 5 reality TV shows like the Bachelor, American Idol, etc. Couldn't really fight over the control of the TV with my parents. I remember blogging about one particularly angry incident when I couldn't watch a show that I wanted! And so I told myself that I would buy myself a TV when I am rich! Hahaha.

Fast forward many years later, I am still dreaming of the day when I will be rich LOL and heck the TV, now all I need is an Internet connection and my desktop and I can choose what to watch at my own time. I can even watch stuff that's not shown on free-to-air TV (read: Korean variety shows). Hurhurhur. It's the days of selective programming and video-on-demand now people.

My little sister though, is fully utilizing the new TV by watching some Channel 8 drama every night. I wonder how my mother can sleep through the din. It's like TV Mobile in the morning when I am trying to sleep on the bus. Very annoying. I on the other hand, shall watch Grey's Anatomy now. I haven't watched for 3 days! :(

Oops I have been neglecting my blog. Poor blog. Even blogger has "forgotten" my login name coz I haven't logged into blogger for yonks.

It's the end of another lovely weekend. :( I love my weekends. Weekends are great. The long weekend last week was great too! Too many things to update.

Work life - One of my colleagues is leaving. :( It came as a bit of a shocker because it was rather sudden. During the many lunch conversations we had, there was no mention about her having the intention to leave or anything like that. Well, it's the circumstances that resulted in her departure... wasted leh, she just passed her probation and she's leaving only after 6 months in the company. I'm quite sad coz there's one less lunch kaki to have lunch with. For months we see each other daily, and just as suddenly she disappears... it leaves a bit of an empty feeling.

I'm counting down myself - am giving myself a year in my sai kang job, so 3 months down, 9 more to go. Who knows, maybe I'll zip off after 6 months too. Who knows, who knows?

Stressing out about my brainstorming thing too. It's ironic - I complain about my job being boring and shitty, but I don't like it either when I'm given challenging stuff. I think I've grown too comfortable in my job - it's just, go to work, do whatever I have to do, go home. Minimum thinking, minimum fuss. I like that I work fixed hours and that I don't have to bring my work home. Compared to other people out there who burn weekends and nights, I think I have it pretty good already huh?

Social life - As I said, my past 2 weekends have been great. Met up with Ichee last weekend, caught a movie (Made of Honour), dinner with Gassers, Max Brenners, prawning till late, and recently, mahjong on Friday night till late. Woohoo I am turning into a mahjong addict. :)

My TV life - I just got started on Grey's Anatomy a few days ago! HAHAHA I love Dr. Bailey. I think she's hilarious! LOL. Don't see the appeal of McDreamy yet though. I'm gonna go back to marathoning Grey's Anatomy after I finish this post.

Not too hard to guess what my eyeballs will be glued on during my me-time this week. Grey's Anatomy, We Got Married, Shinhwa clips... WanJinDy are promoting their respective albums and they are gonna appear on lots of variety programmes... so... it's a lot to keep a girl busy. LOL. :)

And yes Shinhwa - with the exception of Andy - is having a charity concert in June, and I regret to say this, but - I don't think I will go. It's happening during the weekend of 21st June. Tickets are USD$150! No $$$ already (I am spending half of my income each month already!!! And I haven't even started paying off my tuition loan!).

Blocked nose. Onset of a sorethroat. Phlegm. Haha if I fall sick I can get an MC! :D Oh gosh I didn't use to be an MC taker. Look what work has done to me.

And I will try to blog more in future... provided that my eyeballs are not glued to Grey's Anatomy for the rest of the week. Hahaha.

This is how I feel about my boss:

A bit blur huh (can't be helped, my phone is lok kok and the camera specification is only VGA), but you get the gist.

The one on the left is of course me. LOL.

I stuck this on my partition for all to see. HAHAHA. I'm really asking to be fired.

EGAD!!! DEFJENFWJEFNADASDKA*@$~~~!!!

There are rumours that Shinhwa might be holding another concert in June.

OMG. If that is really true... I don't know what I will do.
I will try my hardest to get myself to Korea. RAWRRRRRR.

I was reading ST's Insight feature today. It's about Generation Y workers in the workforce.

I happen to agree with the feature and their characterization of the GenY worker. So for the greater good, I hope my boss reads that article. Hopefully she will learn that micro-managing is NOT the way to go when it comes to dealing with GenY subordinates. Her stone-age management tactics are not relevant in today's work society! She should learn how to co-exist peacefully with GenY subordinates since her 2 staff members happen to be from that generation.

Last Friday she called me twice within an hour to ask if I'm done with the Powerpoint presentation that she taichi-ed to me. Impatient much? I will let you know once I'm done with it lor! Kancheong leh. >__<

IT'S RAINING! :) :) :)

YUCKS I just drank bitter milk.
I think it's spoilt. Good thing I spat it out almost immediately.

I had the most wonderful donut ever today. :)

J.Co dark Belgium choc donut! OMG totally indescribable. Eat it fresh!

And and and! I finally got my Shinhwa mobile accessories! I'm gonna take happy snapshots of all my Shinhwa memorabilia.

I love the weekend. <3
Today's a good day! :) :) :)

Exciting event of the day! I somehow managed to sprain my ankle today. I tripped over nothing and fell on my bum. -.-
Was probably walking too fast... in a hurry to get to work coz I was late again. Hahaha.
No harm done except a swollen ankle and a dull ache.

Busy catching up with my fangirling since it's the start of the weekend!!! Ricsyung HAHAHAHA they amuse me to no end, the Oil & Water relationship.

Have been trying to put my brain cells to use too... what kind of variety programmes would viewers like to watch on TV nowadays? I've been trying to think of new ideas for programmes but to no avail...

Of course, being heavily influenced by the Korean entertainment scene, all I can think of are Korean inspired variety shows like X-man, Love Letter, YSMM, and more recently, We Got Married!!!
But what works there may not necessarily work here - for one, I think we have a very limited pool of local talent. Somehow, I find that there is this factor that local productions lack. What attracts me to these Korean shows are their straight-talking, over-the-top and exaggerated hosts, and how their celebs are so straightforward and funny. They are not afraid to try new things or make fun of themselves - traits that I find severely lacking in the local entertainment circle, where everyone gives very diplomatic and PC answers.

Help me out, I need some ideas for variety programmes!!! Bleah!

It's so freaking warm I'm perspiring as I type this! :(

My little sister is going down the way of the detestable English that is prevalent in the younger generation...

Her MSN nick says "I hate Kevin.... People always sae he *insert heart sign here* mii!!!"

@__________________@

SPELL PROPERLY PLEASE! It irks me to no end when people spell "me" as "mii" and "you" as "euu" or some other equally awful permutation. IS IT SUPPOSED TO BE CUTE AND HIP AND COOL?! Because it is not. I hate the way they massacre the words of the language.

DBS just deducted $10 from my bank account for my NUS Debit MasterCard fee!
They are so smart. I just started work not too long ago and now my card's not free anymore. :(
I gotta relook at my card options.

Had orientation at work for the past 2 days, 2 months after starting work. Orientation's quite boring actually. Lots of talks, some interesting, some downright snooze-worthy, some ice-breaker games, and activities where we had to use our brains. Like one where we had to act as reporters and write a news article - it was like NM2220 & NM2221 all over again - and another one where we had to come up with a media campaign - which I promptly ponned. We also got to tour around the Hill. The tour pwns all the other activities lah. I think it was the most interesting part of the whole orientation.

Got a show to plug, coz I genuinely think the show's quite interesting. The Showdown features "celebrity teams" (if some of them are even considered celebrities) pitched against each other in games - obstacle course, adventure camp style. From the trailers I've seen, it seems pretty hilarious. It airs this Thurs, 8pm on Channel 5! Support local productions! LOL :D

Page 2 of ST today:
Fare cheats to be fined $20 from July

Harsher penalties for misusing concession cards too
._____.

Oops.

At least it's starting in July.

Mahjong at Gillian's new house today, and this is my achievement of the day!

The maximum of 5 tai!! Not bad for a mahjong noob like me :)

Anyway my dad increased the RAM for the desktop PC but to me it feels like there's no difference?! Okay maybe there's a marginal improvement... but sometimes it's still as wols as ever.

These days I've been either cooped up at home watching 斗牛, 要不要/We Got Married or am out somewhere. Yup so that just about sums up my life so far... I feel like I haven't blogged properly for such a long time. Too sian to blog after work, and my weekends are spent doing all of the above.

The lack of insightful or angsty posts probably stems from the very plebeian life I'm leading now. First, no brain cells left by the end of the work day to make quirky and random observations about life in general. Two, I'm in a rather comfortable stage of my life now and don't feel the need to analyse and reflect on every aspect of my life. I have a job; I am generally pleased with who I am and life in general. I don't have any dependents; I live for myself. It's a good stage to be in, even if it sometimes adds up to a rather boring, routine and unexciting life. Guess we should all be contented with whatever we have now.

And then I thought, if there's nothing fascinating enough in my life to warrant a blog post, then perhaps it's time for my blog to die a natural death? And so it begets the question: Why did I start blogging? I honestly don't know why I started, it seemed like a pretty cool idea when I was 15 or 16 (i.e. the angsty adolescent stage). It's a good place to vent when you are questioning the world at large, thinking about issues, wondering about your self-identity, plus it's easier to type than write. I also intended to use it as a tool to chronicle my silly thoughts and daily happenings and for me to giggle at the unorthodox (or not) ideas I've had in my youth when I'm old and toothless (if blogs are not obsolete by then). So it's kind of pointless if there's no content for me to put in it.

It's a lot easier to blog about school than work. I dunno. Work is... just work. Nothing exciting about that. In contrast, I had more time when I was a student to wonder about various things. And then there are less restrictions when it comes to school and a lot more protocols to follow when it comes discussing about work. That's another reason for the dearth of entries... I never thought I'd be those people who would stop blogging when I start work but now when faced with the possibility, it doesn't seem all that impossible. When I update, it's more to update myself than to update my friends because I still have to end up repeating what I blogged about in the end. Kinda pointless.

But for now I will keep my blog alive till the next new stage of my life comes... which is maybe when I tire of my job. It's my little sentimental virtual space. After all it's still a pretty useful platform for me to complain (about work, boss, the traffic, the weather, et al) and fangirl.

On a sidenote, I kind of like Jinnie's 1st album. It's very listenable. So many new albums out recently - Epik High/SG Wannabe/Fly To The Sky and of course DONGWAN'S 2nd jib out on 8th MAY! Hurhur can't wait :)

And my stupid MP3 player is cranky. :(

And the weather is bloody hot!!! It is 4am and I am feeling warm even with the fan at maximum speed. GAH.

Haha I keep jumping from point to point. It's a side effect from not organizing my thoughts and not writing for so long.
