Totally unmotivated to finish my assignments right now... I just want to surf spree sites and watch YouTube. But I must! Finish!
There's the stinking PSA.
PSA = Pain in Siyi's Ass.
Bleargh.
A 10 sec and 20 sec PSA may sound like it's a short assignment, but there's so many things to think about...
There's the 3000 word group report.
But we're almost done. So that's good. :)
I just want to refine it a bit more, but we're missing one whole chunk coz my project mate hasn't uploaded her part yet. GRRRRR.... we set datelines for a reason you know! Dateline was on Wednesday!!!! And today's already Saturday!!!
There's the EM and SWCDC project.
I have no clue what's going on.
Due in another 2 weeks! Report + presentation.
Hahaha how.
I better quickly get rid of the Pain in my Ass first.
Boo. :(
It just occured to me that I lost all the photos that I stored in the wonky computer! It crashed quite a while ago but I happily forgot that I had a full set of Gaassssy photos in there. Genting trip, Gillian's birthday, Ade's birthday, Angie's birthday, Yuanshan's birthday...
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!! *faint*
Sian man... Now I gotta track them back one by one... GRRRRR...Luckily I still have some of the zip files stored somewhere... else I think I'll be super distressed and sad.
Anyway if you guys are holding on to any photos send them to me okay? I'm missing the ones from that super high KTV session after Gillian's house party and the ones from my camera at the Town Club celebration. And what else? There are so many freaking photos that I can't remember what's what. Anyway. IF YOU HAVE PHOTOS JUST SEND TO ME!!! Thanks hee. :)
And what's up with my internet connection? Got disconncted countless times and it's still disconnecting me! I'm freaking pissed now! Freaking lousy router... GRRRR... *angry face*

Random event of yesterday: I was waiting for the bus at the bus interchange yesterday, and this person middle-aged man queued up behind me and suddenly, out of the blue, I heard him say "投反对党一票! Vote for the opposition! Don't vote for the PAP at the next general election! Vote for the opposition!"
Wow staunch supporter of the opposition! He's ganering votes even after the GE is over. Of course, I ignored him while he continued babbling to my back. Then he leaned forward and told the same thing to the two teenagers who were queuing in front of me. I think he's trying to influence young minds or something. Catch them while they're young!
/end Random event of yesteday.
Shoot, I thought I'd get a free day off tomorrow! Turns out that one of my project group's planning to meet tomorrow so I guess I'll just go for my time-wasting tutorial-in-lecture. Else no point travelling to school just for a meeting and then ponning my lesson.
Looks like we're having a rainy week. I just hope that it doesn't rain on Sunday! Please don't rain on Sunday, Clouds, Winds, and Water Vapour!

It is not untrue that I told an untruth.
Took me a few seconds to figure that out.
Haha, this is why you should avoid using double or triple negatives when writing papers.
YouTube suspended the accounts of those whom I used to depend on for my fix of Korean dramas! But I'm not watching anything now (how rare), maybe with the exception of TAR10 which is only once a week... so, till the next time when I have nothing better to do. :)
You know, I really dislike people telling me to "chill". What do you mean, chill?! I am like one of the most chilly persons around in a 10-metre radius. Granted, I may rant and rave but that doesn't mean anything to me. Most of the time I'm just ranting and raving for the heck of it. Sometimes I don't even feel as angry as I sound. After a while, it passes and I just stash it in some obscure corner of my brain until it's time to gripe about it again. So next time if I ever start ranting again, don't tell me to "chill", or "relax", or whatever nonsense. Just listen. The art of Listening is becoming such a rare commodity man.
Oh I guess that is why I like complaining so much on my blog. Instant gratification without anyone telling me to "chill". Plus I get a phantom audience to "listen" to me! Hah.

I may be turning 21 soon but I was still mistaken for a secondary school student!
That's what the kueh-selling auntie thought when I was running an errand for my mom.
A patient at the clinic said I looked like I was 18 or 19. Teehee.
But I get that a lot. Lots of people think I am younger than my actual age.
Fella who was trying to get me to do a survey (and subsequently trying to get me to sign up for some savings plan) looked surprised when I said I was actually a third-year undergrad.
What can I say? I look young! I am young!
Think young thoughts people, think young thoughts! Don't waste your brain cells on other worrisome, adult-ish stuff! Sleep 9 hours a day whenever possible. That's what weekends are for anyway. Oh well I guess it helps that I generally lead a slacker's life. :)

Blogging is sometimes a very current thing. They call it currency in evaluating whether something is newsworthy or not. Some things you just gotta type it down Quick! Fast! Pronto! Stat! Else it'll not feel right anymore when you try and recreate it.
That's how I feel sometimes, because my thoughts has lost its news value and they are now stale. And my memory is getting bad. I was outside for a while and I wanted to do something, but barely 10 seconds later when I came back into the study room and sat in front of the computer, I cannot remember what on earth was it that I wanted to do! Dang, lack of retrieval cues or what?!
Same goes for my stream of thought. I was thinking about a certain thing and a few seconds later I cannot remember what I was thinking about and how to continue thinking. Hah, that sounds odd. Or maybe I should say, how to continue with my stream of thought.
And I absolutely hate Ginkgo nuts even though they are good for improving cerebral dysfunction.
Anyhow, there's a freaking funny video about the feedback given by students to a NTU lecturer. Haha watch it!

Okay take note, Tuesday 1.42am - Internet Connection is Wonky.
Stupid thing refused to publish my entry last night and I think this happens at around 1am every Tuesday morning!
I am using a desktop PC which means that the cable is PLUGGED into the freaking router. I'm not even connected via wireless and the freaking connection is bloody unstable especially around this time.
Stupid SingNet. Curses!!!!
And I'm starting to dislike this certain lecturer's lectures. It's just a whole lot of him having his own speech, him walking up and down the aisles and destroying our eardrums by raising his voice (and the microphone amplifies it by a few times) every 20 seconds or so.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME OUT WITH MY SURVEY!!! Or if you know of any friends who stay there! Or if your relatives stay there! ANYBODY! I need your help!
Sian I am freaking pissed... I'm going to start bugging everybody on MSN to do my survey. Bah!

If only we can conduct a massacre on lizards...
(I don't like them much.)
But we can trap them!

This lizard trap also attracts dust balls and random strands of hair.
I think there's another one lurking around coz according to my mom, this trapped lizard is not the one that my mom and sis spotted. Die lizards die!!!
The black tablet in the middle is actually some lizard pheromone. The lizard will get attracted to it and unknowningly step on the sticky pad surrounding it. And then it'll get stuck!
From my recent intensive drama-ing lately, I noticed that scriptwriters like to have a romantic beach scene where the two main leads (presumably head-over-heels in love with each other) chase each other around, start doing the splashing water thing, and the boy will piggy-back the girl. See case in point:

Screencap from Devil Beside You (恶魔在身边)

A scene from Goong
Looks like it's a universal kind of thing (or at least in Asian cultures). :)

Today somebody told me
"I feel like in university, the weeks pass by very quickly."
How true. When I was working, days were long and weeks were longer. But in school, every week is a non-event. It's already October and soon 2006 will be over. My impression of 2006 is probably more vague than that of 2005. Am I getting Alzheimer's?
I wonder why old people and aunties are so terrified of sitting on a seat that someone just vacated. Will it give them piles or something? Or are they just afraid of a stranger's body heat? My daily observations on the train show that old people and aunties would perch their butt right on the edge of the seat and continue sitting that way for at least the duration of one stop.
My daily observations on the train also show lots of screaming babies. There was one that was super annoying. She sounded like a broken record, screaming (and I mean screaming because I could see that the tiny tot was bellowing at the top of her lungs - think strained veins on her throat) MAMA every 5 seconds or so when she couldn't unbuckle her pram's safety belt. And then the mom would unbuckle it, the tot would buckle it and scream MAMA again; the mom would unbuckle it, the tot would buckle it and... ad infinitum. Bleargh.
You can see why I detest kids.
My daily observations on the train also show that kids are really growing up too fast. I wonder why they are in such a hurry to act so grown up. Is it very fun to act teenagerish? Oh I don't know, I just think kids should act and dress their appropriate ages. I am an old fudgy-dudgy who doesn't like the brats that the new generation is turning into.
I probably remember more things that I observed while travelling on the train than what I learn in school. Boo.

Was channel surfing while watching Top Model and I managed to catch a bit of this SSO concert on Arts Central. Mahler's Symphony No. 8 "Symphony of a Thousand". Wow. I didn't even know they showed stuff like that on Arts Central. I haven't heard this kind of stuff in eons.
I did a search on Wikipedia and found some trivia. Haha. "The symphony requires a massive number of musicians to perform, hence the name 'Symphony of a Thousand.'" Interesting eh! Did we ever learn this before?
Anyway protest protest! Discrimination against the cellos! Why is it that they kept showing the violins, woodwinds, brasses, the chorus, and lots of shots of the the jumpity conductor, but they hardly zoomed in on the cellos and basses?! On the few rare occasions that the camera focused in the general direction of the cellos and basses, I was trying to spot my cello teacher and our Hongkong triad-like conductor. Haha. Okay they're still there and playing so wonderfully. I love watching cellists play. They look so elegant man! I mean I'd rather watch them play than watch a woodwind soloist purse his lips while blowing. Woah, I actually miss this stuff. Playing and making music with others. Knowing that I'll probably never get to play in this kind of context again makes me miss it even more.
The cello - one of my favourite instruments! I chose to learn how to play it coz it has such a rich, mellow tone. It can sound so so so sad but it can sound uppity and happy too. Haha I love the boom boom boom bass sound. Woohoo. It's a sexy instrument hahaha. Except that it's a bit cumbersome to lug around. It all started one day when I was in Primary school... I think there was a group of string players who came and gave us a short performance... and wow young little me was struck by the warm, rich tone of the cello! Think chocolate river flowing downstream… haha.
How time flies... those years of playing were great. Now that all that music is out of my life, I feel... less enriched. I think my life was more fulfilling back then.
Geez, just one concert on Arts Central made me all nostalgic. Oh, those past memories... gone but cherished.

GRRRRRRRRR. Who in blue blazes recklessly threw a thumbtack on the dirt path?!?!?!?! I had the misfortune of stepping on it! Wahlao! The freaking thumbtack pierced through my slippers and poked my foot. Bah! Now there's a bloodstain on my shoe and who knows if the thumbtack is rusty?! (It didn't look rusty to me but you can never be too sure.)
Idiotic irresponsible behaviour! Whoever threw the thumbtack there should have their necks wrung. Litterbugs. GAH.
I popped by VivoCity after school today. At first it looked like a normal shopping mall to me, but once I started exploring the place a bit, I kept walking and walking and walking. That place is huge. But I think the layout is like not very convenient for shoppers. It can get rather confusing and you can lose track of where you've already walked. But there's a nice waterfront overlooking Sentosa. It's huge but empty though. Nothing much to see. I think 50% of the shops are not even open yet. Go back in December or January and maybe things will be livelier. Dammit, I only have next semester to enjoy VivoCity... unless my future job is near Harbourfront.
Okay going to watch Top Model now.

The haze is getting really bad. While working I was keeping track of the PSI on TV. The PSI was rising steadily, from 91 to 98, 120+, 143, 150!! before decreasing a little to 140. Terrible smoke smell. Makes me feel like I can't breathe in too much. I wish it'll just rain and clear the skies. I remember vaguely the last time the haze index went up to 200+. That was in Pri 6 and when I looked out of the window it was all dark and gloomy.
Anyhow, there's gonna be a new A level subject! English! What they're gonna be studying is so much like all the stupid modules that I've taken. Psycholinguistics? Bilingualism? See EL1101E and PL3237. Sociolinguistics? See EL2111 and EL2151 Social Variation (which I didn't take). Sigh, I was born a few years too early, else I'd probably take English for A levels. Anything is better than Econs. And I'd probably have an easier time understanding cheem cheem concepts like those in the very horrible EL2101 Structure of Sentences and Meanings. Ahhhhhhhh!!
Heard that someone committed suicide at the block where I work. People sure are gossipy eh.

I'm starting to get real pissed at my internet connection. Ever since we upgraded to a wireless connection, it keeps disconnecting itself at times and it's irritating the hell out of me!!! My old modem worked perfectly fine and and it hardly disconnected. Even if it did, I knew how to solve it. Now webpages can't load and there'll be this stupid SpeedTouch page that says "Network Error... Your requested host could not be reached." It's seriously annoying especially when I'm in the middle of watching something on Youtube and it stops loading!!! Is this a SingNet problem or some other external problem? Any SingNet users experiencing the same thing?
Buy me a mooncake!!!
Last year I tried the Haagen Daz Ice Cream Mooncake, and this year I've been wanting to try this - the Mini Snow-Skin Mooncake with Champagne Truffle & Ganache from Raffles Hotel... sounds really yummy and I think it's really yummy! Too bad the Mid-Autumn Festival is on Friday... I wonder if they'll still sell it after Friday. Heh... $6 per piece!!! Somebody buy me a mooncake!!!
Haha I have a china doll fringe now. Like superbly straight across. Okay lah it's not that horrible looking if I arrange the strands of hair in a way that doesn't make me look toot.
All eating and no exercise is making me 1) very poor and 2) very fat. I must learn how to manage my finances properly and not let the convenience of Internet Banking and spreeing ruin my life. And I must control my intake of food. CONTROL!
Argghh the mooncake!

I attended the Work and Travel in U.S. talk at NTU on Monday. Thought it might be quite fun to go for it, but woah, the price really put me off. I estimated that it costs around $5K for this thing! I mean you'll get to work and earn back (and only partially) what you paid initially... but to pay $5K upfront?! I'm a poor student, I don't have this kind of moolah...
Sigh and online window shopping is bad... All those pretty bags, pretty earrings and pretty clothes... You can really lose track of your money as you don't see the actual cash flying out of your hands. Bah, I must save for a trip to Taiwan... And I'm in love with the Goong song... Lalalalalalalalala~

How come the days are so short, and the sun sets so quickly?
How come the hours pass so quickly when you don't want them to, and they drag on when you can't wait for the day to be over?
I think I just wasted the whole of today. Watching Goong NGs and all things related to Goong.
I can't decide if I like Goong or I am bored to death by it. I'm hovering between the two extremities. On one hand, I don't really like all the politicking, misunderstandings and manipulating. Isn't it very tiring to keep misunderstanding each other all the time? But on the other hand, I love the funny and romantic couple scenes. If I had my way, I'd edit away all the boring palace politics and stupid love traingles/squares and just keep all the nice parts. Hahaha. If you like 大长今 with all the backstabbing and politics, you'll probably like Goong. But I can't stand the terribly slow plot that drags and plods along for 24 episodes...
My rating: 1/5 for the yawn-inducing palace thingamigs, 5/5 for SHIN AND CHAE GYUNG!!! <3 Wahlao I really love them man, I keep watching their nice and funny scenes over and over again.
Darn, I'm seriously addicted. My life is being sucked away by Korean dramas and youtube. I have a theory that Korean dramas exist to 1) bluff naive little girls that there's a Prince Charming out there and 2) let people like me indulge in a unrealistic world because we know this kinda thing will never happen in real life. How often do you actually see two handsome guys falling for one plain girl? And scenes so terribly sweet that it can cause to you to have diabetes? Since I can't live that fairytale life, the next best way is to watch these dramas... haha.
Okay, I have no more Korean dramas to watch for now. I think I'll take a break from them. And start watching Taiwanese dramas instead. Wahahaha.

Wahahaha.
