Haha unbelievable, reading the blog of this girl who said she won't get any laundry done during the week when her mother is away on a work trip.
Not like she very young leh, 25 or 26 already?
How hard is it to throw clothes into the washing machine?
Aiyo is this the new generation that our society is breeding?
Sorry I am totally judging you now! Please don't be so dependent on your parents!!!!
Today at work I also heard a lot about how the kids nowadays find inference difficult coz they don't even observe any more. They are just glued to the phone all the time.
Hence they don't observe, can't think, can't infer.
Wah very sad like that. I don't know what to think of the 草莓族. I think I will die if I work with them.
And the sad thing is, I'll probably still be slogging and have to work with them when they enter the workforce.
Anyway if you haven't watched Descendants of the Sun already (are u hiding in a cave?!), please watch coz I think it's one of the better Korean dramas I've watched recently!

Spent a very productive Saturday getting some dates and confirming the venue - must say we're very efficient haha.
Also finally caught up with HIMYM!!! Neglected the show for a while since I didn't have time and only started re-watching from S09E07 a few days back and watched like 7 or 8 eps today. Tomorrow is the last of Season 9, and the last of the entire series. I couldn't remember lots of things that I've watched over the years haha. Such as all those references to characters and incidents. Still think the first 7 seasons were much better; season 9 is a weeeeee bit draggy. Can't wait for Ted to meet The Mother!!!! After all those trials and tribulations! FINALLY!
And thus concludes my 3-year affair with HIMYM.
Will miss Barney Stinson and his wisecracks and exaggerated ways.
Next I want to watch this hot Korean drama that everyone's talking about! "My Love From The Stars" or something like that. Haven't watched any Kdrama for years! Have high hopes for this haha.
Another work week beckons. Boo.

Saw these GIFs from a HIMYM article I was reading and thought they were cute haha
And this old image that I posted before but still remains awesome:

HIMYM Season 8 Episode 5
Ted proposed to Victoria. Victoria issued him an ultimatum - if she marries him, he cannot remain friends with Robin.
Ted to Lily and Marshall: I can't imagine life without Robin, but she'll never be in love with me. She'll never be my wife, she'll never be the person I grow old with. Victoria... Victoria could be.
***
Ted to Victoria: I'm not in love with Robin, but she's like family to me and I can't end that. So... can you accept that?
Victoria: I really hope you get her some day.
Poor Ted.
HIMYM Season 8 Epsiode 6
Robin thinks Nick is dumb and wants to break up with him but she keeps getting distracted by his hot abs or keeps procrastinating. After hearing yet another failed break-up attempt over the speaker phone, Barney rushes over to the cafe where they are at.
Barney to Nick and Robin: She can't go home with you Nick, because Robin and I are in love. I love her, Nick. I love everything about her. And I'm not a guy who says that lightly - I'm a guy who has faked love his entire life. I thought love was just something idiots thought they felt. But this woman has a hold on my heart that I could not break if I wanted to. And there have been times that I wanted to. It has been - overwhelming, and humbling, and even painful at times. But I could not stop loving her any more than I could stop breathing. I am hopelessly, irretrievably in love with her - more than she knows.
Bravo Barney. Even if you did pretend that you were faking it afterwards. I am all for Barney and Robin! But yes, poor Ted. I feel a bit like Ted sometimes. Sometimes I watch HIMYM and see bits of my life staring right back at me. How do ex-lovers remain close friends? They just get tangled up in each other's life and things get complicated.
Anyway bear with me here while my blog gets filled with emo, angsty, self-pitying, self-loathing, self-deprecating posts from time to time for the next few days/weeks/months.
Some quotes that I got off from Twitter that I've amassed over the years. They are like mini bowls of Chicken Soup for the Soul lol.
"How do you look at the boy you love and tell yourself it's time to walk away?"
"When you come to matter in someone's life, it's unfair to just up and go as and when you please."
"Don't ever beg someone you love to love you back. It's pathetic. Just leave them. That is how you hold your pride."
"While I was holding on, all you did was let go."
"I guess the reason why I held on for this long is because I thought we would one day get our second chance."
"When you love someone and you're insecure, you cling." - omg I think I'm completely like that. I clung on to a toxic relationship when somebody paid attention to me because no one else ever did and you think no one else ever will.
"Moving on is not forgetting. Moving on is actually accepting. The truth is when you loved someone, you will love them forever. When you see this person again there's no feeling of hurt or anger or wanting. That's when you know you moved on."
And speaking of moving on, this is a very good article - What Moving On Is Like - from Thought Catalog. Extracts -

You forget the socks. You forget the fingers, the toes, the sex. You forget the pulses, the beats, the rhythms and how you sometimes felt like they all belonged to you. You forget the words; finally, you forget the voice that spoke them.
Moving on is when you think about him and don’t punish yourself for it, when he begins to evoke more of a scientific response than an emotional one."I will get there!!!
For all my gushing over the Olympics 4 years ago, I have been largely silent about it on my blog this time round. Hahahaha. I think it's because I'm more active on Twitter, and it's convenient and easy to post one-liners on anything and everything there.
So now the curtain has lowered in London. As always, there are plenty of defining moments for each installment of the Games. Phelps and Bolt were again the main talking points, just like 4 years ago.
Phelps emerged as the most decorated Olympian ever with 18 gold and 22 medals in total 0_0 Usain Bolt's impossibly long legs and impressive stride earned him the 100m, 200m and 4x100m. Sun Yang came out of nowhere to win the Gold in the 400m free from Park Taehwan. Ye Shiwen was remembered for swimming her last freestyle IM lap faster than Ryan Lochte, and the Australian swim team this year only managed one gold medal. What happened Australia?!?! And of course, Singapore's 2 bronzes in Table Tennis!
I caught bits and pieces of the Games live, staying up to watch mainly the swim finals if I haven't concussed by then. It's great that now they have clips of various events and almost-live streaming on the Olympic Youtube channel!! Very convenient. And this is probably the only time when I watch mioTV at home, hahaha. Else I won't even know how to turn on the mioTV function.
Every 4 years there will be new names to watch out for, while the older ones become a shadow of their former selves... which is a little sad actually. I'm quite happy that Phelps has decided to retire on a high. Let everyone remember him at his peak! (Then there are some who would argue that he peaked in Beijing.)
Ahhhh the Olympics. So much drama and sporting acting packed into 2 weeks. That's why I like to watch it so much! We shall meet again 4 years later in Rio de Janeiro... I think the time difference is gonna kill all of us haha.
I also like to look at cute athletes. Here's a cute swimmer, Nathan Adrian, 100m free gold medalist! :D

Hello weekend, we meet again.
I've had an absolutely slack and idyllic week doing absolutely nothing! Despite the fact that a whole lot of mucus decided to make my respiratory system their home for the week. Late for work almost every day, enjoying my Sausage McMuffins, listening to Class 95, surfing Facebook, playing Sims Social, and knocking off early whenever I don't have my exercise classes. My bosses will probably come back on Monday and jump. :x oh well. Not as if there's a lot to do while they're away.
Attended this makeup workshop yesterday for Artistry products and I present to you my scary made-up face:

Haha! Not used to having such dark eyebrows LOL.
Started to watch The Pupil on xinmsn - initially to catch our dongsaeng who guest-starred in an episode, but I got mildly hooked after watching bits and snippets of it! I think Adrian Pang and Janice Koh's chemistry in the show is sizzzzzzzzzzling hawt!
Ok gotta get ready to go for my facial.

Helloooooooo it's 3.53am and I AM AWAKE.
This is bad because I HAVE TO WORKTOMORROW TODAY.
Why is it that I am always awake at the most inopportune moments!!!
I blame it on the tea I had in the afternoon. :(
Need some time to sit down in front of the computer, settle my finances, sort out my holiday photos, upload them on Facebook as I am optimistically assuming that people are actually interested in seeing them, and watch HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (my new addiction)!
The bored, the unbored, the lonely and the unlonely should watch HIMYM. Because it is FUNNY! Hee hee hee. It has been my companion on train rides and now train rides are enjoyable because I am GUARANTEED 20 mins of entertainment, fun and also looking stupid on the train (coz I'm smiling at my phone).
Anyways! I attended yet another wedding dinner on Sunday. This time it was a JC classmate getting married. And boy, he does get married in style because it was a very atas wedding with lots of important and pompous looking businessmen and VVIPs. The guys were all suited up! (one of Barney's favourite phrase in HIMYM), the food was good (it better be!) and dessert was... (wait for this)... specially crafted KAYA ICE CREAM with apple crumble. Crumble was also specially baked by a specially hired chef. And the door gift! You can't beat the door gift... he doesn't give the usual chocolates and stuff... it's probably the one and only in Singapore (or even in the world!).... (wait for this).... A BOTTLE OF KAYA and A BOTTLE OF COFFEE POWDER!!! (and also a notepad and a pencil but that doesn't have much dramatic effect)
Pictures will come later coz I am lazy to load the photos into the computer!
Come to think of it, I paid good money for a pretty good 8-course Chinese dinner at the Ritz Carlton, a bottle of kaya and a bottle of coffee powder. I guess that's as good as it can get. :D
What! I didn't mention my Bintan golfing trip! PLUS! I got started on my mini-term pole dancing classes! And I finally got my wish to eat at The Line! Ok I really need to start sitting down and start sorting out my life.
More highlights from Si Yi's life! Coming soon...! *deep announcer voice fades*

Half of July has passed by and I am now reluctantly back in Singapore, trying to get back into the swing of things at work and wishing that I had shopped and bought more stuff in the US!
Going to Bintan for a short weekend getaway tomorrow. After Bintan I suppose my passport will not be seeing the light of day for many many many many many months. Till my malnourished bank account recovers to be fat and healthy.
I have about 7GB worth of photos (!!!) which I suppose I will slowly and painstakingly filter and upload onto Facebook. Eventually. I will also try to blog about my trip if I don't get too lazy. But it has been a good break. At times I felt that it was too long but when it was time to come back, I didn't really want to come back. I miss San Francisco's weather! Okay maybe not the dryness. Just the coolness.
LA was hot! Pretty much like Singapore. The Victoria's Secret outlet in San Diego was kinda disappointing. There were hardly any nice bras in my size. :( Out of the 3 cities I visited, I think I like SF the best! Well since I'm waiting for my How I Met Your Mother videos to convert (yes, at the unearthly hour of 4.30am), here are some photos of my trip to share:

Visiting wineries and wine tasting at Napa Valley

The iconic Golden Gate Bridge (we spent one hour walking across it)

The prison on Alcatraz island

Glacier Point at Yosemite National Park

This river was literally right outside our room!

We were standing there and ogling at their nice firm asses hahahahaha :p (This was in Vegas, but of course!)

The Grand Canyon

Super scenic drive along the coast from LA back to SF
OK I have too many photos... it's taking me too long to even look through them! o.O
And speaking of How I Met Your Mother... I caught a few episodes in LA and watched almost the entire of Season 6 on the flight back and found it quite funny! And the best part is that each episode is only around 20 mins. Perfect! :)
Gasp 5.30am now (I spent one hour looking at my photos and I only finished looking at SF and Yosemite photos!!!!!!) and I need to catch an early morning ferry to Bintan tomorrow! ROAR! Ok tootles~

I've decided to embark on my own Project 365: Take a photo a day and see your life in a whole new way. I got inspired by a colleague who did her own 365 for 2010 and it seemed like a pretty cool way to remember your days. Especially after witnessing how quickly 2010 flew by and feeling like I've not done anything at all, it would be interesting to look back and recall how my 2011 went through a series of pictures.
Of course, seeing that I am no pro photographer, the photos I take on-the-go with my lousy 3MP iPhone camera with no flash and no zoom will not be of stunning, picturesque quality. Just capturing bits and snippets of memories will be enough for me. Just like what the wizened photographer said in 下一站,幸福: 摄影 是让瞬间 变成永恒的魔法。(Btw why is this show so tragic and depressing?! Watching star-crossed lovers and their trials and tribulations really pains me.)
One week into this and I realize that most of the photos I take are of food! Hahaha. I guess this shows how my life revolves around food! I resolve to take more interesting quirky stuff that is representative of my day!
You may check it out if you are interested in the mundane aspects of my life: http://hahaheehee365in2011.blogspot.com. As if my blog is not mundane and boring enough hahahahahaha. Nothing like a new year to start something new! :D

While watching the 9pm lawyer drama on Channel 8, I spotted a flaw in the development of the script!
The current case is about a husband who has sado-masochism tendencies and he sexually abuses his wife, e.g. whipping, slapping, biting (shudder - the wife should just castrate him but I digress). Hence the battered and traumatized wife is taking the husband the court. The wife is filing for divorce on grounds of him abusing her.
So this is what happens in the middle of the lawsuit:
1. Husband breaks into wife's apartment one night and forces himself on her (or so wife claims).
2. Wife brings this up during court and insists that husband did his SM thing on her again.
3. Husband vehemently insists that he did not, that wife is a mental case, and hey ho, he has an alibi anyway.
4. Husband produces alibi - he checked into a hotel with a pretty young thing on the night in question.
5. Wife goes bonkers in court and executes varying degrees of despair.
6. Everyone is puzzled - who is the liar?
Deng deng deng deng! And here lies the loophole! Everyone is too focused on the whole husband is a SM sex manic/pervert/humsup dirty man issue! If the wife wants to file for divorce, she can file for divorce on terms of infidelity what, why keep harping on the sex abuse when the husband blatantly admitted in court that he was indulging in some hanky panky with his girlfriend?! And he is still legally married! Don't say I never learn anything from this drama, the previous law case said that there must be a damn good reason to file for divorce and infidelity is one of them.
From the looks of it the wife is not going to win if they are fighting the case if the reason is because of the perverted husband's sick fetishes. So why not just change tactic? Turn the tables on him and say OI YOU CHEATED ON ME YOU IDIOT AND YOU ADMITTED THAT IN COURT TOO! Nooo.... instead the scriptwriters conveniently forgot about this very important and logical point. Logic fail.
Yes I just wrote a dissertation on a Ch 8 drama. I have no life.
(But better this than 《爱》.)

Woah STB sure maximized the airtime they got on the Singapore leg of The Amazing Race! It was a really jam-packed episode - Victoria Concert Hall, Singapore Flyer, Sentosa Zip Line, lion dance, selling ice cream, shipyards, Marina Barrage... plus all that bitching between the lesbians and the beauty queen, made for a rather entertaining episode.
Apparently the teams popped by our sunny island last year when I was in Cambodia! Pity... or else maybe we would have the chance to catch a glimpse of the teams scurrying around the island!
Tried to get tickets to the Jay Chou concert today but of course the Power of Jay Chou made the entire Sistic website inaccessible for an hour. But heard he's going to open up another show on 23rd July. Say hello to another mad rush for tickets!

One of the contestants in the newest season of The Amazing Race was a Ms Teen USA South Carolina, who once famously said "Some people out there in our nation don't have maps... South Africa, Iraq, everywhere, such as."
But surprise surprise, she is not the resident bimbo in the show. There is someone more bimbotic than her! Complete with high-pitched whiny voice. In fact the ex-beauty queen seems rather level-headed and totally non-bimbotic.
New season, new teams, and another 12 or 13 hours of my life devoted to watching it. Haha.

I finally finished watching 学警狙撃 at 5am this morning. This has got to be the most exciting HK drama I've ever watched! Full of twists and turns and the baddies aren't written as the typical one-dimensional evil character either. Bravo to the scriptwriter!
I've read 6 copies of 8 Days in a span of 4 days! I shall aim to reach Issue 1000 (that's the Dec 13 issue) by the end of my break. 9 more copies to go omg.
On 初二 I went to my grandmother's house to 拜年 (the same grandmother who comes to our house every Saturday and throws tantrums like a kid, refuses to bathe, and keeps asking when she is going home etc etc). Seems like her dementia is getting worse, because she can't even recognize her own house! When night falls she will demand to go home - even when she is already at home. She will get very angry when everyone just patronizes her. So in order to appease her, my uncle bundled her up into the car, drove from the multi-storey carpark down to the void deck of her house. She will willingly believe that that is her house when she returns to an empty house instead of one that is teeming with people. Aiyoh.
On 初三 my relatives came over and I lost at very badly at mahjong.. haha. My auntie waived off my "school fees" in the end. They are used to playing with bigger stakes so $0.20/$0.40 is too difficult for them to count. HAHA! 赚到! But I still lost $2 at blackjack.
Half of my break is gone, hopefully the other half will crawl along slowly... KTV with colleagues later!!!

The SingTel Mio guys came over the weekend and ta-dah, our house is now Mio equipped. At first I dismissed Mio as a white elephant since I'm already busy with all that eyeball action online. So I only found the time to explore it just now, and GUESS WHAT! I found out that there is KBS World!!!!!!!
Life (and TV choices) just got a whole lot more exciting!
Our Internet plan has also been ramped up to 10Mbps SO IT BETTER DELIVER!!! So far so good. My surfing has been mostly smooth.
Caught Broadway Beng over the weekend and it so happened that there was a review on the show in Life! today.
Couldn't have agreed with the reviewer more - I thought the show was kind of all over the place!
But okay, if you like Hokkien songs and getai I think it'll make good entertainment for you.
Kumar is having a show next year. I prefer Kumar's humour actually.
NO TIME TO WATCH THE AMAZING RACE!!! I hope I don't get to accidentally see who won in some random article... And my stubborn ulcers! Still rotting in my mouth. And I have a freaking huge pimple pulsating in the middle of my forehead. :(

Ulcer count: 2 in left cheek, 1 on tongue, 1 on upper lip, 1 on lower lip, and a few tiny tiny ones that may have been healed.
I just finished watching The Amazing Race. Flight Time and Big Easy made a bad choice! If they do it systematically, it's not that hard to form a word with 5 letters when they already know what the first letter is. They're athletes but not very logical people I think (like when they struggled for so long with the suitcase and the code). At least they were funny!
Not really rooting for anyone in the final 3 teams this season.

The weather has been super warm this weekend! I feel like immersing myself into a pool of ice cold water right now... ahhh.. *images of cold spring pop up*
Every morning when I take the bus to work, it's always a non-aircon bus that comes. VERY HOT!!!
Is there some kind of portable ice-pack that never melts, which I can bring along everywhere I go??
Jensen Button reminds me of Ian Thorpe!
And I have been truly spoilt by the numerous long weekends that I've had the luxury of enjoying. Weekends usually pass by in a flash but this weekend was uncharacteristically short! Maybe it's because I literally slept half my Sunday away.
3 more weeks, counting down to the next long weekend.... bleargh. Okay back to watching 1박2일. Can't wait for the ending of 溏心风暴. And The Amazing Race starts again!!

I'm fairly excited about a couple of upcoming programmes that will be telecast on our local Chinese channels - Hong Kong blockbuster 溏心风暴 and Taiwanese idol drama 命中注定我爱你!
命中注定我爱你 is one of my favourite Taiwanese shows to date. It's sweet, funny, heartwarming, quirky, all rolled into one. I hope they don't censor all the local Taiwanese (Hokkien) dialogue, coz that's what makes the whole show so funny and endearing. And of course 阮经天 is good looking. Haha.
And I want to watch 溏心风暴 to see what all the hype is about. Hopefully it will not disappoint.
My TV watching life just got a whole lot more exciting!
My colleague is going to Korea for a holiday tomorrow. And she gets to attend a summer camp with her idol! I am so jealoussssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. I want to go to Korea too. *green-eyed*

This morning at 9.30am, someone turned on the TV at work and that was how, at 10am, I found out that KRIS ALLEN is the new American Idol!!! Woohoo! I half thought Adam would win it since the judges all gave him favourable comments on his performance last night. But I guess Kris has so many fans because he is such the quintessential, all-American nice guy, and he's so likeable and can really connect to the audience when he sings. Plus the guy is freaking talented. Try playing the piano or the guitar and singing at the same time. And he's only 23! That's like my age. Too bad he's married. But his wife - if the one in the yellow dress is his wife - looks very pretty.
So having missed out on most of this season, I went to the official American Idol website and saw this Q&A:
Q: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Kris: I wish I had chest hair.
LOL!!! Kris you don't need chest hair and you're already very smexy!!!
