(There's Gotta Be) More To Life - Stacie Orrico
There's gotta be more to life
Than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me
Cause the more that I'm
Trippin' out thinkin' there must be more to life
Well it's life, but I'm sure
There's gotta be more
I've got the time and I'm wasting it slowly
Here in this moment I'm half-way out the door
Onto the next thing, I'm searching for something that's missing
***
Of course there's more to life. I believe firmly in this statement.

The ankle appears fine now. Still looks a bit swollen to me, but as long as I don't twist or turn it in some odd angle I think it'll be fine. Just aches a little when I press it. Heh.
I wanna make new spectacles.
Anyway, today was Teachers' Day celebration and we had a breakfast party in school while watching a concert put up by the student councillors and house reps. Some were entertaining, others not so, especially with their bad singing. Then I went back to St. Nicks with Mabel and this is what I ate (in eating order):
- lemon tea with sprite
- orange bowl guotiao
- 40 cents wanton
- chicken wing
- sweet corn ice-cream
- cheese toast
- iced tea
- 鱼片面线
- tao huey
- a bit of fries
Anyway, now my belly has bulged to the size of a 5-month pregnant lady. Which is not good news at all. Bleurgh. But I shall rule out dieting (coz I love food and eating too much to be able to stick to the diet anyway) so I guess I shall just cut down on the amount of food I eat and hopefully my stomach will shrink before I become overweight and then eventually I'll become obese and I'll be just this big glop of fat rotting in front of the computer. -_- not a pleasant image.
I went back to St. Nicks with the intention of eating (coz I missed the food) and not to visit teachers (oh, I am such an ingrate) but anyway, I saw Mrs Yeo (still as nice as ever, she can still remember me!), Ms Heng, 吴老师 (I think she forgot that we existed), and OCC (she forgot my name! Gah!). Had a nice chat with them :) I like St. Nicks. I love St Nicks! But all those things that I used to do daily, my daily routine, seems very distant and far away... I suppose that's what being away from the school for so long does to you. Feels very comfortable to be rotting in the big lovely airy high ceiling canteen with your friends, chit-chatting; comfortable but... un/in-explainable (?).
Then I was rotting away listening to Cynthia thump on the piano. That girl is seriously quite good. I haven't been brushing up my piano playing for ages. :( The whole afternoon went by just like that, talking and catching up with classmates (only a few of us went back), slacking, reminiscing. I suppose I won't be stepping foot into the school for a while. Sigh. I really miss the school.
I should just sleep earlier today. Well well. Prelims are here and all I hope is to pass all my subjects. We shall see.
Hobble, hobble
On Monday Si Yi sprained her right foot. She carelessly slipped and missed her footing while descending the steps.
Her ankle was swollen but she went home happily, ignoring the pain, not knowing that she sprained her foot because she has never sprained her foot before.
Her mother told her to immerse her foot in ice till the swelling subsided. Brrrrrr that was cold.
Now her foot is bandaged up, and she has to take colourful pills for the ankle.
Anyway, she failed her Econs mock (extremely badly), failed her Maths mock (not too badly), passed her Physical Chem mock (on the dot) and may pass her Organic Chem mock (hopefully).
Where's the moon? I can't see any Mars... it's too cloudy over here in the north-east.

The Washing Machine Mishap
I spoilt the washing machine at home. :( I tried to dump in my clothes after my bath and somehow spoilt the catch on the lid. Haha, all the half-washed clothes are all rotting in the machine. Got scolded by my mother and now she wants me to pay for the repairs. Grrrrrr.
The Maths Mock Test
I'm going to get 20 marks for the thing. Hahahaha. Anyway, I was so damn tired during the thing that I kept falling asleep and Pam had to keep poking me.
Great-Grandmother's Birthday Lunch
Our great-grandmother's turning 100 today! So we all trooped down to NYDC at Holland Village (my first visit there) and had lunch there. It was yummy! Hahaha :) Took lots of pictures and tried to cream great-grandmother, which was hilarious. :)
Came home and took a long nap. Ahhhhh. :)

I was stuck on the NEL for like 20min + yesterday. How stupid. That's the problem of going driverless. I don't see why the trains can't have drivers. Won't it make everything easier? Then there won't be so many delays and stuff. Sure, I love NELling. It's made my life so much easier. Going to Town now takes about 30-40mins, compared to the 1hr last time. If only they can fix all these horrid train delays and technical faults, then it'll be perfect. But nothing is perfect, right?
I think Mrs Chia feels that I'm a hopeless Econs student. I seriously cannot make it. Bah.
I am NOT looking forward to the Maths Mock test this Saturday. :(
Gonna go watch Holland V now. Sigh.

Oh give me a hoooome, where the buffaloes rooooaaaam, where the deers and the antelopes plaaaay...
Where seldom is heaaard, a discouraging wooord, and the skies are not cloudy all day...
Hoooome, home on the raaaange, where the deers and the antelopes plaaay...

The Chem mock test was rather stupid. It was easy, but I think I'll flunk it. Oh the irony of it all.
I have to produce a bad AQ in the next 12 hours and I have to revise my Econs so that I will have questions to ask her tomorrow. We just suffered another of her naggings today. Baaaah.
Sheesh. Do not attempt to ask me anything in the morning. I do not think before I speak. -_-;
I went to Mos Burger today and attempted to study Statistics. Fell asleep halfway. Zzzzz.
So many people are ponning school tomorrow... :(
Now, should I apply for the EAGLES thing?

*yawns hugely*
The CIP thing today was alright. I actually managed to get to Woodlands by 6am and it's really quite 爽 to travel on the expressways at 5.45am. Was just basically distributing out the "Goodie Bag" which consists of one white plastic bag, one towel, one tissue box, one bottle of water, food and a popsicle. I was doing the plastic bag and towel station. And it was muddy and wet. Blerugh. I think I still need another 3-4 hrs to hit 80hrs. Sigh. Now I gotta volunteer my services at the libaray or sth if I want to get 80hrs for CIP.
And you can really see how self-centered, selfish and kiasu Singaporeans are from this little event. Some unabashedly came twice or even three times to get more of those Goodie Bags. @_@ Huh. Each person is only entittled to one Goodie Bag lor. Call me a prude, but I think we shouldn't take advantage of such things.
Quite tired now, I only had 2 hrs of sleep last night. And I still have to go and scrub my muddy shoes, wash my dirty bag, do my GP compre and goodness knows what else. Baaaahhh. This sucks.

I love the weather!!!! :)
It's cool and drizzling slightly (would prefer it to be storming outside though) and oooooh the air is so fresh and crisp and nice smelling :)
And the wind is so cool and nice and nice and... nice? My vocabulary is so limited. Hahahaha.
The weather should always be like that.

What rating is your journal?

You represent... naivete.
So innocent and trusting... you can be very shy at
times, but it's only because you're not sure
how to act. You give off that "I need to
be protected vibe." Remember that not all
people are good. Being too trusting will get
you easily hurt.
What feeling do you represent?

And so we talked all night about the rest of our lives
Where we're gonna be when we turn 25
I keep thinking times will never change
Keep on thinking things will always be the same
But when we leave this year we won't be coming back
No more hanging out cause we're on a different track
And if you got something that you need to say
You better say it right now cause you don't have another day
Cause we're moving on and we can't slow down
These memories are playing like a film without sound
And i keep thinking of that night in june
I didn't know much of love
But it came too soon and there was me and you
And then we got real blue
Stay at home talking on the telephone
We'd get so excited, we'd get so scared
Laughing at our selves thinking life's not fair
And this is how it feels
As we go on, we remember
All the times we had together
And as our lives change, come whatever
We will still be, friends forever

Speaking of songs, my littlest sister seems to aspire to be a singer. She holds a pen and pretends that it's a microphone and starts singing the National Day song, the one that goes "We are one Singapore, together strong and free..." and starts prancing round the living room. Hahahaha.

Hm. Nobody's online. [Timecheck: 7.36pm]
Wah. I wonder what everyone's doing. Eating dinner? Mugging? (I shudder at the thought; it only serves as a reminder that I have yet to start) Watching TV?
I need reassurance that not everyone is buried in their lecture notes. (But I don't think that I'll get any.)
Btw, does anyone know where to get 6R photo frames for the lowest price possible? Does Ikea have 6R photo frames?
I gotta wake up at the crack of dawn tomorrow and report at Woodlands Causeway Point at 6am. @*#&!*$^!*&@%!&@!!!!!!!
Sundays are meant for sleeping late. Till like, 2pm? Bleurgh.
I find that I'm running out of things to say/blog about. Eeyer. I'm turning into a emotionless, speechless glob of fat. Ahhh!!! 怎么办?!?!?!?!
Watch me as I degenerate into lipids... wheeeeeeeeee.

I'm sleepy... zzz..zzz...zzzzz...
Slept for 2.5hrs last night. -_- Stayed up till 3am trying to rush through my Exco report for my teacher (which for once, I really meant what I said) and also tried to rush through my GP compre... ugh ugh ugh... Damn tired. Need to sleep. And last night, my baby sister managed to screech, scream, yell and mumble incoherently while sounding really constipated all at the same time. At 3.30am in the morning! Goodness. How can a girl try to sleep while her sister is making digusting noises barely one metre away? And the moon was like a gigantic star last night, shining through the window and on my face. -_- And my pillow was too flat. So I was tossing and turning while resisting the urge to scream at my sister or to throw a pillow at her so that she will shut up. Honestly, I have no idea whether she has been having nightmares (this screeching in the middle of the night has been going on for some time already) or she is doing it on purpose. Gah. So irritating.
No matter how cute or lovable or ____ anyone may claim that kids are, I will never have kids. Nada. I don't like kids. I think kids don't like me too. They're just plain irritating. Grrrr.
As Michelle Branch asks "Are you happy now?" I can only think of a suitable response: I'll be happy once I get my sleep.

Had a very memorable birthday celebration with the August bday girls on Friday. We went to Kenny Rogers for dinner. Yum yum. Lots of laughter erupted at the dinner table. However, Angie and Tsin Shwen didn't have 缘分 , one left 5 mins before the others arrived. Sigh. So we can't take a 全家福. Again. We don't have a 全家福 after so long! Sigh.
And we went to the Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City and dedicated birthday messages to the birthday girls. It was so cool! The laser beams flashed our message in the fountain against the water. Nice! Nice! And they played song dedications too. Hahahahaa. Had a really good time. :)
National Day yesterday was alright. I slept till 3.30pm (to make up for my lack of sleep during the weekdays) and then went to my grandma's house for dinner. Watched the NDP there. Was quite alright, as all NDPs go. Anyway, I felt very touched by the SARS thing. Hahaha. And I get a little emotional while watching the NDP. And knowing how Singapore is so blah blah blah blah blah. I think I only feel proud of being a Singaporean once a year, and that's on National Day. Hahaha.
AHHH!!! And they kicked out Jon and Al from the Amazing Race!!! *indignant* Why?! Why?!?!?!?! They are (were) my favourite team!!! Damn wasted. Hai. They could have gotten into the top 3!!! :( So sad. Their popularity is like 95% (according The Amazing Race website) and almost 1/3 of the people who voted thought that they would win! Ahhh!!! This is so disappointing. Out of all the teams, I think they were the best. They have such a positive outlook on everything. Sigh.
OK, enough about the Amazing Race.
Hahaha actually managed to do my Maths hw today. hahaha. I feel so proud of myself. *swells up in pride* But I still gotta write some report for my CCA teacher. Sigh. And I thought we've stepped down. -_-
Till next time, folks. :)
Back home after the National Day Celebrations in school. Quite a waste of time actually, I spent 1 hr plus going to school, stayed in school for about 2 hrs, and then spent another hour coming home. Bah.
I still can't find the Maxim (is it spelt that way?) version of The Flight of the Bumblebee. The piano version! I want the piano version! Apparently Shuhui has the score. But I don't think I can play it anyway. I have probably deteriorated to Grade 5.
Anyway, yesterday I ate till my skirt was practically bursting at the waistline. We went to Bukit Timah Market and ate and ate and ate and ate... I love food! I guess it's this weakness for food that has contributed to my increasing weight gain. Bah.
Life's been rather boring nowadays, besides school, I don't know what else to blog about. Hahaha.
Shall go cook Maggi Mee for lunch. :)

Oh anyway, here's what a test said about me:
You're the super-slacker!!
Homework?
What's that? Studying? Not in your vocabulary.
You hardly study and almost never do your work
and yet, by some divine intervention, you're
still surviving. And you come to school so un-
often, your teachers have pratically forgotten
that you even exist. Go, you slacker, you!!

Nah, I always go to school, never skip lessons or any other talks or silly functions that they want us to attend (unless unintentionally of course, like falling asleep and then oversleeping...) so I guess I'm half a slacker.

This computer is so slow... S-L-O-W... I'm in the school libaray now. Passing time while waiting for my classmates to end their Physics lesson. Just had a rather fruitful Econs remedial. I feel bad about disappointing Mrs Chia with my attrocious Mock test results, but I shall work hard and hopefully pull up my econs to an E or D. No more Os and Fs! Hm.
Oh yay! I just posted 12hrs ago and now I'm posting again. :) Felt rather sleepy today but now I'm rather wide awake. Heh. And I haven't been late for school for the past 3 days! (including today) Feel so proud of myself. *beams* Must try and keep up the good work. Haha, maybe tomorrow I'll be late for school! So much for self-praise.
Lalalalalalala~
My mother kept the Ignis bear in the cupboard. :( Poor bear. Now I can't see how cute it is coz it's stashed somewhere in that cupboard full of overflowing soft toys left over from my childhood. Sigh.
Half day tomorrow! Yay!!!! :)

Trying to download The Flight of the Bumblebee now... I think it's damn cool... Hahaha imagine the piano sounding like a bee buzzing... :)
Arrrghhh but it's not downloading! :( Grrrrrrrr *rolls tongue* Hahahaha yes I know some of you can't do it. :p
Anyway, we had a little discussion on copyright issues during GP last Friday. Seems like they are enforcing stricter laws to protect copyrighted stuff. Hm. That includes the downloading of songs and MTVs and whatnot. But... ich practically lives on downloaded music. Tsk tsk.

I am waiting for an SMS from my tuition teacher to confirm the next tuition lesson. If it's tomorrow, then I can't stay long while lunching with ichee.
Sheesh... snacking on Pringles' Potato Chips again. Bah. I have been steadily gaining weight. Need some discipline. Anyway, I prefer the sour cream flavour. Heh.
Anyway, a few days ago (many many days ago) I read some article in The New Paper which was about blogging and how teenagers treat blogging as some kind of an emotional outlet. Which is good. So that they can at least "talk" to someone when they are feeling frustrated, happy, sad, or just in a silly mood (like in the case of me). But what I didn't like about the article was that they actually quoted from someone's blog. It's rather insensitive, especially when the person that they quoted from was grieving over her classmate's death. And not to mention that it's an invasion of her privacy. Can you imagine?!?! And her URL was rather visible in the picture too. I'm sure all bloggers know that nothing will remain private when posted online, but again, there's some kind of unspoken respect that exists.
And to think of it, JC really does sap the life out of you. It sucks away your energy, your spirit, your soul. It sucks, yeah. Even more so now, especially when the prelims are drawing near. Day in day out, we go to school, attend lectures and tutorials, go home, attempt even more tutorials, and go back to school the next day. I wonder why being in JC has that kind of effect on a person. You get more lerthagic, you walk around like a zombie, you feel that life has no meaning anymore except to study hard and get good grades. It has become merely a shell, with nothing much in it. Well except studying, of course. But still. I believe there's more to life than studying. And I refuse to let myself get sucked into this empty shell. Maybe it's the effect of the A levels. Back then, in the good old days, I wasn't that tired (even though I still slept during my Maths, Geog, Chem, Physics lessons...) and it seems like life back then was so much more enjoyable. And it's already Term 3 week 6! *Gasp* I didn't realize that this term whizzed by so quickly. Perhaps, when you just go about a usual boring and mundane routine, time passes by quickly?
Enough of my rambling. Gotta try and complete my homework. Hahaha. I shall not be stressed. I will not be stressed.
Sheesh... snacking on Pringles' Potato Chips again.
Yay! Just had the rubbish Econs mock test... which I'm most probably gonna get another F to add to my collection anyway. Mrs Chia spent half an hour lecturing us today during Econs. The only thing is, she was speaking soooo softly I was straining my ears half the time, trying to catch what she was saying.
Finding an excuse to slack after my Econs mock test. Hahahahaha. There's still Chem prac assignment and Food Chem tutorial to do, and I think I gotta read some article for GP too. Haha. Shall cut my nails and then bathe and then start on my homework. Been conking out halfway while trying to study for the past 2 days. Hopeless, I am :)
Ich is hopeless! Titoo!

Quite an exciting day today, we went out to celebrate our dear Empress's birthday. :)
Due to a lack of time and certain unforseen circumstances, we barely had any time left to prepare her present. So yesterday, the Saint came over to my house to try and make candles and er, other parts of her present. Which can be seen in Pictures! (link on the left)
Er, it didn't turn out too well, but hey! It's the thought that counts, right? :)
And today, we had to go all the way to Fort Canning Park in search of saga seeds. They should label where the saga trees are in the map! We practically walked the whole of Fort Canning Park trying to find the damn tree! And we found it near where we first entered the park. -_-; What a waste of time. And it was so darned hot and uncomfortable.
Wanted to get Angie flowers, but luck wasn't on our side. The florist shop above Orchard MRT was closed. And originally we wanted to have lunch at Wisma's Sizzler, but again, the outlet relocated (or something, coz it wasn't there anymore). So we cabbed down to Suntec and had at extremely late lunch (courtesy of the Empress!) and then we went to some Karaoke place in South Bridge road to sing (and embarrass myself). Stayed there for 4 hours and then came home. Lalalalala. And despite being there for 4 hours, we still had like 30 over songs left that we wanted to sing but didn't have time! Hahahahaha.
Anyway, I am now extremely broke. Very very very broke. BROKE. No $$$. No money. Penniless. No reserves to draw back on. Budget deficit. Savings are reaching negative numbers. Spent an awful lot today :( and with more people's birthdays coming, more celebrations and dinners to go to, I think I should just starve myself and watch my allowance slowly wither away. :( But on the other hand, prelims are coming, so it means that people will want to stay at home instead of gallivanting around. Which means I can save money. Yay.
Yeah I uploaded some pictures. :) Heh. I look like a fool with 2 pigtails. -_-
