Perhaps there is something just so pensive about the night, and a sad song playing on repeat. Felt a little lousy and down in the dumps, and I actually quit Mapling before 3am (which is quite a rare feat these days).

Decided to catch up on my blog reading and I went to read AKK's blog. I don't know what came over me but I started becoming all snively and argh! I do not know how to explain this. It was just horrendously stupid, those little emo-things that take control suddenly. But oh, her latest entry was just so sweet and beautiful. Then I visited Ade's blog and felt considerably cheered up because of her kawaii hair (sorry Ade :D). Then I hopped over to read Pam's entry and started feeling all emotional again. Rarrrrrr!!! To think that trivial blog entries reduce me to a simpering idiot.

I must be going crazy. :(

!!!!! Bidding ended at 3pm! I thought it would end at 5pm!!!
I have no idea what to take... I still need 3 more... and all the important exams are crammed together, it's horrendous!

And a tooth is erupting from the back of my gums! Probably need to go and visit the dentist soon... my mom just told me about how, while she was still pregnant with me, suffered from the pain of having a wisdom tooth while puking her guts out. Hahaha.

How now brown cow?

If not for the Merry Christmas messages that I received, I would have forgotten that it was Christmas today. I spent most of the day getting my eardrums blasted by very very loud dong-dong-chiang cymbals and drums. And we caused a mini traffic jam along the road while we followed the procession. I was just thinking if I was a commuter and I was running late, I'd be super pissed. And I woke up super early. On a Sunday. On Christmas!!! Grrrrrr, I don't like to wake up super early.

It was also quite an eye-opener, since it was my first time to the cemetery. There are so many tombs and graves there! And it's all very neat-looking. Such an eventful Christmas and Christmas eve.

Feeling hungry now... and I am becoming broke again... :(

Last night I had a very nice dream!!! So nice that I didn't feel like waking up. But in the end the dream progressed on to something ridiculous and irrelevant, as all dreams do, so poof! My nice dream ended. :(

It's Christmas now! So Merry Christmas to one and all! :)

I think obituaries are interesting. And I like to read them! Hmmm, maybe not obituaries of every random person, but those of my family. That sounds rather sadistic and twisted but I think it's like a nice big family tree and I can put names to the faceless people that I see every year during CNY. And then I can see who is related to who and who is whose kids. Like I didn't even realize that my mom had another sister (that has already passed away) until today.

And I finally managed to check my results! I welcome my first C+ into my grade transcript... for the module that I wrote half-hearted rubbish for, what else. Hahaha.

I want to eat tangyuan... haven't had any yet!!! Grrrrrrr.

My throat... my voice...
Next time I must always go for KTV sessions with a big pack of Strepsils and order the honey lemon drink. I think it helps alot. Really.

I'm typing this bright and early in the morning... going to sleep soon... but as usual, I couldn't help but feel rather sorry for the people who were going off to work while I was coming back home... it's as though I could feel the glum aura around the train station... and feeling even sorrier that in a few years time I'll probably be like them.

I had a terrible terrible terrible driving lesson today. Today's my first time driving at night, and it was just horrific!

I seemed to have turned into a blind bat at night and missed a right turn by so much that I almost knocked into the curb. Plus it was raining super heavily, like torrential rain coming down in sheets. Visibility was about negative ten. Haha. And then after that when the rain cleared, the windows were all misted up and when I rolled down the windows, my specs got misted up. -___-"

But the most horrible thing was that I nearly crashed into the bumper of a car. Thank goodness for the instructor's brakes. If the instructor jammed the brakes one or two seconds later, I think I would have banged into the car and caused a major hold-up in AMK. Oh boo. :( I don't feel like getting a driver's licence anymore. Public transport is good. Even though buses take eternity to come and I complain about them all the time, I can sleep on the bus, SMS on the bus, use the phone on the bus, drink and then let someone else drive you home, and best of all I won't endanger all the other road users and the life my passengers by doing horrible things like neglecting to watch out for traffic in front because I was too busy checking the rear view mirror while changing lanes. Grrrrrrrr.

The boss gave me a nice bag for Christmas! Yay I am very happy! It's always lovely getting unexpected gifts.

Tomorrow should be an exciting day! Hopefully it's what I need to perk my life up a bit.

We've got a record! I don't think I've ever not blogged for so long since I got broadband and replaced the lousy computer. Which was about 2 years ago. Haha.

So...

I've been busy Mapling, watching TV and reading Harry Potter. Wait, isn't this what I already said in the last 2 entries?

Exam results will be out on Thursday! I suppose I should start thinking of what modules to do, and plan my timetable. And then I shall gasp at my horrific results on Thursday and then mope around the house eating Meiji yoghurt.

Chinese New Year is coming. I don't like Chinese New Year.

Here you go, my very Pointless, Passionless and Purposeless life. Can't seem to find the zest for doing anything. Or rather all my time's being sucked up into the awful game. It's really a great time killer.

Grrrrr what is happening to me?! Is my brain really so empty and hollow that I don't even have anything to blog about?!??! Is my life really so boring and unexciting that all I can say after two weeks is that I'm still watching TV and Mapling everyday?!?! Even some form of angst is good at this point. Right now I am feeling Nothing. Am I turning into some kind of robot??!?!

Crap!!!!!!!!! I am so pissed with myself! I forgot to record The Amazing Race at 830 because I was too preoccupied watching another programme!!! Dammit!!! Put the show back to the 10pm slot!!! (and as a sidenote I want to say that the Weaver family has serious issues and has the honour of having the most obnoxious kids and the most warped mother in the show.)

3 forgotten programmes in a week! Crap!!!!!!!

And my life is governed by TV shows. Great. Wonderful. Way to go!!!
I feel really happening. Don't you?

Allow me to update you on recent exciting happenings in my life.

We have:

- TV watching
- MapleStory playing
- Harry Potter reading
- Staying-at-home slothing
- 6am sleeping and 4pm waking

I'm starting to feel that this blog is a little redundant. What else is there to say? What else can be more exciting than watching TV and shooting monsters? But hey! 4 more weeks of wonderfully empty days stretching ahead of me. Anyone up for a spot of KTV?

It's December!

December is a nice month!

Okay nothing much to blog. Except that I woke up at 430pm today. New record! :D

Harry & Ron
You scored 67% knowledge and 52% obsession!
"Now, if you two don't mind, I'm going to bed, before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed. Or worse, expelled!"

"She needs to sort out her priorities."

You are neither obsessed nor oblivious about the magical world, but your knowledge is obviously higher than average. You have a healthy interest in all things Potter, but it's nothing to worry about. Your keen intellect and natural curiosity make you a force to be reckoned with. You can't be expected to pay attention in Binns' class every lesson when you have Quidditch matches and girls on your mind! Just be forewarned - Hermione won't always be able to finish your essays for you. She has enough going through that frizzy head of hers!

I finally went to watch Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on Tuesday. I thought I wouldn't like it very much because I didn't like them slashing off so many important bits of the 3rd movie, what more the 4th.

I really didn't like the first bit of the movie, like oei Quidditch World Cup barely shown and everything so rushed and Barty Crouch Jr appeared in the dream which is WRONG!
And a too drawn-out scene of Harry battling the dragon!

But after that it was okay, they seemed to follow the plot largely, and once I put aside my misgivings I quite enjoyed it! I'll give it an E for Exceeds Expectations! Why was Hermione so over-emotional though? And wahaha Neville Longbottom is taller than Harry! I dunno, but I kind of imagined him to be short.

If you like reading and imagining characters though, the book has so much more to offer. Read the book! Get sucked into the world of Hogwarts and magic! Ooh la la! I think I'll go and read now. Hahaha.

I was watching 无间道 II today on TV and it was nice to watch because Edison Chen and Shawn Yue look very cute in the show!

This concludes my day.

(Oh and MapleStory is down for 36 hours for some major server update, so my twitchy itchy fingers will not have a chance to play till my exams are over. Good neh.)

Oh crap I am very much screwed for my statistics exam!!! Panic panic!!!

Looks like doing special term next year is inevitable... else it'll be 6 modules every stupid semester till I graduate!

Why don't I just change my major to something that doesn't require statistics... Please let me get a C please let me get a C please let me get a C!!!

The #1 telling sign that you are a hardcore, hopeless Maple Story addict:

You start to draw mushrooms, snails and slimes during your exam, on your question paper.

Is there a Maple Story Anonymous group? Maybe I should set up one myself!

***

Well anyway, I thought today's exam was easy peasy lemon squeezy, if you compare it to last semester's paper, which was (question mark exclaimation mark) times 10. It was an MCQ paper, (I arrived 10 mins late for my exam, boohoo) but some questions had me stumped, like "Which one of the following authors is not featured on the Japanese banknotes?" I should be able to pass though. We got a rather decent grade for our disgusting project so yay! Let's all bid adieu to Introduction to Japanese Studies!

And my favourite module of the semester, Abnormal Psychology! I should be able to pass that too, but hopefully not with another B- again. :(

This is Hamster's exercise ball! It's not very clear, but Hamster is in it and it's running. And why is my floor green?!
I forgot to take a picture of Hamster in the sand bath... next time next time!

I think I have an acrobat for a hamster.
Hamster can climb the monkey bars quite well using it's tiny hands. Do not underestimate Hamster's arm power.

More Hamster photos!!!

Hamster is so cute! I was watching Hamster nibble at a kernel of corn at 330am the morning before my Abnormal Psychology paper instead of sleeping. So cute!

Research Methods and Statistics up next!!! Ahhh! Die!

How much does a mouse cost nowadays?

Today I went to the pet shop and bought hamster sand (for Hamster to roll in) and a hamster exercise ball (for Hamster to run in). Whee!!! So exciting!

Me and my sis managed to shoo Hamster into the hamster ball and it ran all round the living room banging into things. Poor Hamster. I wonder if hamsters suffer from concussions?

But it's damn funny to see a purple plastic ball rolling all around by it's own. Haha! And sometimes the shit will fall out from the ball (Hamster poos everywhere, anytime), so we gotta follow the ball around and pick up the shit after it.

Me and my sis also managed to shoo Hamster into the container of hamster sand. Hamsters are supposed to roll around in the sand and bathe itself. Erm. Something like that. And I spotted apple-scented sand! FYI, Hamster likes to eat apples (and sunflower seeds) so I wonder what would happen if it rolled around in apple-scented sand! It'll smell of apples and maybe it'll eat itself up. Okay that's gross hahaha.

Shall take a photo of Hamster in the exercise ball next time! :D

Today I also went to buy Meiji Yoghurt which is damn yummy! Especially the Aloe Vera one. Try it! Special offer from now till 23rd Nov! $2 for 3 at NTUC!
I decided to be more adventurous and bought a mango-flavoured one. Mango-flavoured yoghurt?? Hmmmmm. Hope it'll turn out yummy.

PFFFFFFFFT. Haven't been updating!

You remember Grimace?

Am I seeing double?
How come there are TWO Grimaces?

Is this the real Grimace?

Or is this?

Ey you fake Grimace! Get out of my throne!

"Mwahahaha, I am the real, authentic Grimace," intones the one seated in the box. "The fake shall have no home!"

Fake Grimace arrived here about 2 weeks ago, courtesy of my mom's friend friend or something. Now I have two Grimaces but I only like the bona fide Grimace!
I would like to clarify again, I only like THE Grimace, not ALL Grimaces! It is different!

The Fake is short and stumpy and its hands has no flesh! The Fake has no dent in the stomach!

***

Anyway the swimming pool decided to separate the individual lanes from each other, and two lanes are allocated to swimming laps. I applaud the Swimming Pool Association or whoever that is behind this for FINALLY putting buoys to mark the lanes and putting up signs to specify what direction to swim (anticlockwise). But some annoying people just do not know how to read the signs! The freaking lane is already freaking narrow and instead of having everyone move in a circular direction, they just go up and down, up and down, and banging into oncoming swimmers! Oei! I don't care if you can swim the butterfly as zai as Phelps, but please be courteous and swim in the correct direction! It's like driving against the direction of traffic, later langa can! And I got dug in the freaking elbow by some freaking guy. BAH!

I am hungry, and exams are coming oh!

I would dearly love to say that the reason I haven't been updating much is because I'm busy burying my nose in my books, but we all know otherwise.

Today is just not one of those good days.

Last night I was rushing out my JS project and my PL2131 stupid report. Stupid APA format. Stupid statistics. RAAAAARRR!

So I slept quite late, at about 6am and therefore I woke up late because the stupid Nokia phone alarm is not as shrill as the T610 and because I woke up late and I missed my train and I had a stomach ache, I took a cab to school from Harbourfront and wasted $6.30 because why? The lecture ended 10 minutes after I arrived. Wahlao!!! GRRRRRR.

Wonderful. I went to school for 10 minutes of lecture and to hand up my project and report. And to return the book I borrowed from the library. Waste money lah!
I think I probably spent the remaining $15.10 that I got on Saturday on cab fares! BAAAH!

Then we screwed up big-time at work and the whole freaking world is coming for flu vaccinations. Suddenly everyone pops up from all corners of Singapore, and there was a Bukit Batok patient coming all the way to Hougang for a flu jab!!! When there's a lot of people, I get flustered, and when I get flustered, it's very easy to make mistakes. PPPFFFFFFFFFTTT.

And just a few minutes ago, while I was Mapling, I saw something white run across the floor and I thought it was some beetle/bug/cockroach but it turned out to be Hamster. I dunno how Hamster managed to heave itself out of the cage, and then out of the box, and I was damn flustered (again) but I somehow managed to lure Hamster back into the cage. Using food. Because Hamster is a glutton. And Hamster is overly active at night. Eh I still don't dare to catch Hamster with my bare hands. Wah, hamster-owner but don't dare to hold hamsters, very good eh?

Was super sleepy during my Abnormal Psychology lecture yesterday, plus it was kinda nice to doze off crouched at the back. So when my lecture ended, I was feeling damn stoned and sort of zombied to the library.

The library's toilets alternate every level, like male toilet on one level, female on the other. In my hazy zombie mind, I thought the toilet on the 3rd level was for females (the stupid floors start to look all the same after a while, can't blame me for getting them mixed up ;D) and in the stupor of my zombie-ness, yes you guessed it, I opened the door and walked in and the first thing I spotted was urinals! Ooops!!! Wrong gender. Luckily there wasn't anyone in the toilet at that moment. And so I walked out faster than Hamster running on its wheel and looked around furtively trying to see if anyone spotted my boo-boo. Think no one was near enough to spot me walking out of the male toilet, so whew!

Haha this is not the first time I did this, last semester I walked into a male toilet because of the alternating levels of toilets and also because I was too blind to see the sign, and when I realized my mistake, I walked out and saw this girl walking past and looking at me, so I just smiled at her like it was the most natural thing to come strolling out of the gents. LOL!

I saw this very cute baby in a pram on the LRT today.
Big eyes and dark pupils, chubby cheeks and a cute lil' nose. And lots of drool.

Then I thought of Hamster.

Then I looked at the baby again.

I think Hamster is cuter. Haha.

It's been a good birthday week! Yesterday (by that I mean Saturday) wrapped up the festivities and celebrations and Gaassssy scores 10 points for creativity! Hahahaha that was a really interesting game to play.

I went to Topshop in the afternoon to finally go on my shopping spree (courtesy of Ichee) and then it was followed by dinner and some kind of answer-questions-and-earn-money game! Hahahahaha. They fulfilled my wish of giving me money without it coming in a red packet! Anyway I earned $29.10 in total. Hahahaha!

Okay shopping spree! Here I come!

Anyway, I got a free flu vaccine by the eccentric doctor who sneaked up and wanted to jab me without warning. Luckily my mom told me beforehand, else I would get pricked without me knowing.

My grandfather's in hospital, just went to see him today. Guess it's a matter of time.

I should start to wean myself off Maple Story... 2 hours today, 1.5 hours tomorrow, 1.25 hours the next day, 1 hour on the next, then 45mins, half an hour... I figure by next week I should be completely Maple-free and then I can start gearing myself up to stare at my textbooks and notes.

Hope I'll succeed. :)

Your Blog Should Be Blue

Your blog is a peaceful, calming force in the blogosphere.
You tend to avoid conflict - you're more likely to share than rant.
From your social causes to cute pet photos, your life is a (mostly) open book.

Hello! Today I cleaned Hamster's cage! We managed to clean out the cage without even touching Hamster. And after I plucked out the wheel and fixed it back, it doesn't squeak anymore! So yay! No squeaky wheel at 3am!!!
My sis thinks that Hamster is getting fatter... hey Hamster's buyers, what do you think?

Introducing... Hamster!

This is Hamster today.

This is Hamster a few days ago.

Hamster likes to eat a lot and shits a lot. The whole cage was full of black stuff. And today I witnessed shit coming out from Hamster's behind! I even recorded Hamster moving its bowels, wahahahaha. And I realized Hamster likes to torture itself by squeezing in between the small space between the food bowl and the cage. Then its butt will stick out and it'll do some sort of a flip/somersault! Ah how to post the clip up here? Anyone knows?

My sis read up on a lot of hamster info on the Internet... one hamster year is about two human weeks! And one hamster day is about 1 human hour! And hamsters are supposedly blind but their sense of smell is quite good... so if you just ate an apple, don't pick hamsters up with your hands or it'll bite you because it will think that your hand is an apple!

We also placed a toilet roll inside Hamster's cage for him/her? to gnaw on. Sort of to trim its teeth, or something like that. Hamster also has a new water bottle! The old water dish was quite dirty coz all the sawdust would go in, so my sis bought a new bottle for it! And did you know you can toilet train your hamsters? There are hamster toilet bowls available!

Anyway my sisters baked a cake for me to Monday night! With the help of my mom and me, hahahaha. I was not supposed to know about the cake (which is highly impossible, since I was going to be at home when the cake-making process was going on) but my little sister cannot keep secrets. On Sunday while we were going swimming she told me about the grand plans to bake a cake. Then she said "Cannot tell 二姐 I told you, because I promised 二姐 not to tell you." -___-" Hahaha my little sister is so funny!

And so we made an Oreo Cheesecake! Which came out very well! And was quite palatable! Hahahaha. Eh at least it didn't turn out like our very first attempt years ago. Our first attempt at making a cheesecake turned out to be like cheese ice-cream instead. :(

Looks yummy! And tastes yummy too!

We also went to Pasir Ris park for a picnic on Tuesday and went cycling and eating. Birthdays are for stuffing your face with food. Hahaha.

And here's the Big Sweep ticket with the rude hand sign... hahaha :D

Never strike Big Sweep leh... No more dream car!!!

And speaking of dream car, I'll be taking the Traffic Police Practical Test on 14th January! Hope I won't mount curbs and stop over the stop line and stuff like that...

And my favourite team in The Amazing Race - Family Edition got Philiminated! Bah!

30 years ago, on this day...

Bo Bice was born!!!

Okay that is not the point. The point is:

20 years ago, on this day...

I was born!!!

Yes little Si Yi came into this world all bloody and shrivelled up like a prune. Probably with a loud wail or two. Not that I can remember what happened when I popped out, but I'm just describing what I see on TV shows and stuff. Hahahaha.

Today is a good day because it's a public holiday! And it's a doubly good day because it's a public holiday and my birthday! And it's a triple-ly good week because two days later it's another public holiday! Yeehah! And I finally don't have to work on a Thursday night!!!

Do you feel the festive mood already?

Do you feel slacky? (Except for the people who are mugging for exams)

I am!!! Such a wonderful week, this is!!! :) :) :)

Happy Deepavali everyone!
And Happy Birthday to me! It's not everyday that you turn 20, you know. ;)

This is a catastrophe!!! Disaster!

I received a hamster for my birthday! Yes a freaking hamster!!!

My crazy friends got me a hamster as a present!!!

I mean of all the things to give... why a hamster?!?!?!

I am not a furry-animal person! I am not an animal person! I am most certainly not a pet person! I can't take care of pets! I am a commitment-phobe! *Si Yi goes slightly hysterical*

Nobody in my family is a pet person too... my mom doesn't even dare to hold the hamster. I think she is more averse to furry animals than I am.

Plus having a pet is a freaking huge responsibility. It's a living thing! It's not some inanimate object that I can choose to place in a display cupboard. It's like deciding to have a baby! Do I have the time and ability to look after a hamster?! And I have to support a hamster on my meagre pay! I am not prepared at all! Plus I've always believed that if you don't have the means, the time, or the patience to get a pet, then don't! It's unfair to the pet if you just get one "for fun". You've got to be really committed to get a pet!

I was quite shocked when I saw it. Was like...
................................... Shit.
YOU MEAN YOU ALL GOT ME A HAMSTER?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?! (times ten thousand exclaimation marks)

Have I shown any inclination towards furry cute animals?! Have I expressed any desire to have a pet of my own?! NO!!! Neopets, Tamagochi and Igglebins are the closest things I would get for a pet-substitue. But not a real, running, nibbling hamster!

Of all the presents that I've ever gotten, this takes the cake man. Not in a good way -- no offence -- but a hamster! A hamster! I am now burdened with the task of looking after a hamster!!! And I am absolutely clueless about how to take care of one!!! *Si Yi becomes hysterical again*

And my mom had a rather negative reaction when I brought the hamster home too... She was like "Why did your friends get you a hamster?! Aiyoh, you never tell them that we don't rear pets at home? Why they waste money like that?" And she suggested that we let our 6th floor neighbour have the hamster.

Okay lah, but on the plus side, the hamster is really very cute. It's a dwarf hamster, and luckily there's only one. If I had a couple of mating hamsters, very soon there will be lots of little hamsters running around and I will be pulling my hair out.

And then we all crowded around the cage, looking at the hamster nibble. Then I filled its cage with water, and we masking-taped certain parts of the cage coz it looked big enough for the hamster to slip through. I don't want to wake up and realize that the hamster is missing. -____-"

This probably needs some time to sink in. I am now a hamster owner. I am responsible for its tiny life!

ARRRGGGHHH! I don't even feed the freaking fishes in the pond! *panic panic*

I think I shall name my hamster Hamster. Hamster the hamster. Yeah very creative I know. It shall be Hamster till I can think of a nicer name. And since I don't know what is Hamster's gender, I shall randomly assign a gender to it. It shall be a female hamster. Hahahahahaha.

Haha, I discovered something that Hamster and I have in common! Hamster is a nocturnal hamster! It's already 2am and Hamster is not asleep. It is running on its hamster wheel!

But anyway, do not ever give me living things as presents again.

***

Other than the hamster saga, the day went pretty well. I was horribly late as usual because I forgot to bring my KTV vouchers out and I only remembered when the LRT reached Sengkang. So I made a U-turn back home to get it. But in the end Party World was fully booked till 6pm (!!!) so we went to Kbox instead. Then we went to Suntec for dinner at Country Manna. Besides the hamster, the Royalties also got me a bag, a pen with a rude hand sign, and a Big Sweep ticket. LOL. Top prize $2 million leh! Eh, if I win I can buy my dream car! Which is an Orange Volkswagen Beetle. :) :) :)

***

Hahaha, my sis just told me the funniest thing. My little sister has a plan to surprise me for my birthday by getting my sis to act as a witch, my dad to act as a ghost, my mom to be a narrator and herself as an angel. Hahahahaha. Kids say the silliest and funniest things sometimes. :) :) :)

Halloween coming eh!

My blog is worth $6,209.94.
How much is your blog worth?

I'm a Platinum Grey Volkswagen Beetle!

Silent and blunt, you're often as unnoticed as your Platinum Grey Beetle. Odds are that your journal is the only window people have to your personality. But like the Beetle you drive, all you have to do is hock your horn a little and attention will stay you for a while.

What kind of Volkswagen New Beetle are you?

Damn, I haven't compiled my part of the project yet. Been mapling every spare moment I have. I hope my group members won't kill me. :(

I had a couple of very interesting dreams lately, all consisting of horrifying scenes of me either crashing a car or knocking someone down.

Case Study 1:
Last night I dreamt that I was in this uncontrollable car that went at 120km/h and I was freaking out coz the max I ever went was only 70km/h?! And I was driving the uncontrollable car and there's something wrong with the brakes and I can't decrease the car's speed so I think I jumped out of the car somehow, and the car miraculously did a right-turn by its own without anyone inside it (!!!) and it went out of my sight. Then I heard a big bang and then it crashed into another vehicle.

And I think the car belonged to a friend, it was probably Tsin Shwen's car or something. Eh. How come I ended up driving Tsin Shwen's car??? And all I remember was panicking and getting darned worried coz I just reduced my friend's car to a wreck.

Case Study 2:
A few nights ago I dreamt that I was driving and somehow I ended up knocking someone down. So I was horrified and sort of froze at the driver's seat, and this time Shuhui was in the dream with me, sitting in the passenger's seat. So she went out of the car to check on the person that I just knocked down, and I think the person was bleeding pretty badly. I hit his leg or something. And all I did was just to sit there and look horrified. Then somehow Shuhui cleaned up his wound and all was fine and we drove off.

***

Anyway, I need to pass one more subject before I can book for my driving test. Hahaha. Is this a sign?!?! My subconscious is probably trying to tell me something. Like, "Who are you kidding?! You're going to mount all the kerbs and then roll down the slope. Then you'll forget to give way to the pedestrian and you'll knock down somebody while doing a U-turn!!!"

And I scored a whooping 58 demerit points for my first assessment! Yeehah!
I always take pride in the weirdest things, hahaha.

I've been neglecting my blog and everything else... because of Maple Story... haha.

I think I've something to blog about... but I tucked it somewhere in some corner of my brain... and I can't seem to retrieve it now... and I really have nothing to say... nothing to say... nothing to say...

I'm screwed... 1000 words (plus minus) by Tuesday on some boring topic for GEK1002... And I've got nothing to write about...

It's only a within-group dateline coz the actual dateline's on 10th November. Obviously my group project mates do not believe in procrastination. And that is good. Seriously, that is good. Not trying to be sacarstic or what.

Because on 10th November the 2131 report is also due... now THAT is a major pain in the ass. Because I have no idea what has been going on for the entire semester! Bah!!!

Everyone's saying that it's only 3 more weeks to exams... is it really that fast?!?!?! I must have been living in denial (as usual).

I feel so proud of myself this week because I've been punctual for all my morning lessons! Not even a minute late! I was even 5 minutes early for my last Abnormal Psychology tutorial this morning. Woohoo! :)

Speaking about Abnormal Psych, the test was okay but the Language and Cognitive Processes one was ()&!~*#%^~*&#~+!!!!! Plus my test paper will have slobber marks containing my lecturer's DNA because she likes to lick her fingers before flipping the pages. =___=

And speaking of Language and Cognitive Processes, I have a walking Wikipedia in my group! I don't know if that's a good thing or not, because he's super knowledgeable and contributes a lot to our discussion, but he makes me feel stupid. Hahahaha. And he's volunteering to do the entire write-up that I'm supposed to also help write. Now I feel quite bad because I don't want to get marks for something that I don't deserve, and I know how it's like when other group project mates slack off and you're stuck with all the work. But then again, I have another project essay to write by Tuesday... eeeks, I am so tempted to just let him do the donkey work.

It's so true that there are various sterotypes of the student character existing everywhere... you have the bo-chap dude, the hostelite, the knowledgeable smart one, the NATO person, the silent one, the "Anything" one, etc etc...

There is also the over-enthusiastic mugger that I mentioned, and she is your typical kancheong Singaporean student. She is likely to say "How did you study for your test? Oh no, I only studied 5 chapters! Passing is not good enough because everyone else is doing so well!"
And I am secretly trying not to give her an evil stare, because comments like these always irk me. Ms Procrastinator here hasn't even started okay!

I secretly dislike all over-enthusiastic muggers because they epitomize everything that I am not. Hahaha!

Oh well, to each his own.

The Maple Story server is down for maintenance, so I can't play! Which is why I am blogging instead. Hahaha.

And my spelling is really going downhill, I can't spell words like "knowledgeable" and "maintenance" without checking dictionary.com first! Arrrgghhh!!!

Of all the stinking times to get addicted to a game...
!!!!!!!!!

Well, it could have been worse. Hahaha.

Okay so while I was busy with the game and not blogging, there was the test... the annoying over-enthusiastic mugger... the many tales of woe about the insensitive boyfriend that I've heard from a friend... the talkative driving instructor who three-timed when he was 20 years old... my part of the project that I have to write but obviously am putting it away till the latest moment possible... and killing lots of snails and mushrooms.

So long!

I've been staying up late these few days.
Not to research on my projects, not to write my part of the freaking paper, not to study for my Abnormal Psychology test, but to play Maple Story!
Wah, very good man. What an untimely addiction.

Prioritize!!! PRIORITIZE!!!

Anyway, Mabel's Poke The Penguin thing is quite cute. Or rather, the penguin is cute. :D

Today I went to Sandy's new condo to swim and use the sauna and the gym. Wahahaha. I burned about 102 calories at the gym brisk walking on the stupid treadmill. Better than nothing. :) The sauna was quite fun though, I was never so happy to see sweat before. It went up to about 60 degrees Celsius -- oof, hot man! And they say 75 degrees is a "comfortable" temperature!

But Sandy the blurblock left her keys in school, so we were locked out of the condo because our valuables were all inside. Imagine the horror when we gaped at each other and realized that we had no cash, no handphone and no ez-link card to get home. Haha.

And everybody has flat-screen TVs there, haha.

We must go there for a BBQ one day!

Okay I must psych myself to do some work tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Ian Thorpe!!! :)

You lazy pig, you procrastinator! When will you ever learn that cramming the night before a test will NOT get you good grades? *clobbers self*

I think I really need a kick in the ass.

I haven't found anything for my disgusting project, haven't studied for my disgusting test, and haven't done my disgusting readings.

And what I am doing? Playing Bejewelled. Sheesh!

Say hello to Igglebins! Click on him repeatedly to make him roll in the mud! Heh heh heh.

It was one of those rare occassions on Wednesday evening where everybody appeared for a dinner meet-up cum birthday celebration for all of us who were born in the later part of the year. Haha.

Xiaojing's phone has this very cool mosaic function that will churn out pictures like this:

And Pam's phone is absolutelywonderful! Photos!!!

Anyway, the girls followed my wishlist dutifully and I now can have a shopping spree at Topshop! Thanks everybody! :)

I have photos to send, buzz me on MSN and I will send them to you!

Garrhhh. My stomach feels bloated after scruffing down my dinner while watching Pride. Hungry mah.

And men who push women are scum!

I watched a film called The Wild Child in the library today during my unbelievably boring break. Watching TV will cause time to pass quickly, as I have found.
After fiddling with some knobs and switches I settled down to watch the show, which took about 2 hours. I should just watch films in the library whenever I have long breaks. Heh.

The movie was in French with English subtitles and I learnt that "lait" is pronounced as "lay" or something and it means milk. Then water is "ewww" I think, anybody wants to correct me on that?

There was a little boy (around 11 or 12 years old) who was found in the forest and he moved around like an animal on all fours, was dirty and naked, had hair like a lion's mane (now those Dove shampoo advertisers should really watch that film), couldn't talk, and seemed to be deaf. He lived on acorns and roots and nuts, sniffed anything that was foreign and basically lived like an animal instead of a child. Turned out that he was abandoned when he was really little and because he was isolated in the forest, he didn't get to learn how to function normally like normal people do. Like those Nature vs. Nurture things.

Yep and so he was found and sent to some Institute for the Deaf and Dumb and those kaypoh Parisians crowded around him like he was some kind of exhibit. Till one fine day someone decided to make a project out of training and taming him. Like teaching him how to walk properly, teaching him how to interact with people, how to utter words, recognize the alphabet, match objects to words etc etc. Was really quite touching at the end, and the boy who was cast as Victor, the wild child, is really quite cute after the housekeeper cut off his lion's mane.

Yep and this film's sort of related to my Language and Cognitive Processes module, which was how I got to know of it.

Eurrrgh. Still feeling bloated. Puffing up like a pufferfish. Burp.

The stupid mouse is not working! I had such a hard time playing Solitaire Showdown with my sis using this mouse.

The Blogger interface looks weird too! What happened?!

Sigh, it's a Monday. Mondays are bad because of the 3-hour break. Tuesdays are bad because of the 4-hour break. I just need to get through those two days and the rest of the week will be good!

I gave Grimace a bath just now. Poor Grimace. His first bath in dunno how many years. I had to scrub him with the scrubbing brush and squeeze him to get the water out. :(

If Grimace had a voice he'll probably be going Ow! Ow! Ow!!! and if he was capable of facial expressions he would be giving me an indignant look.

When I squeezed him he went rather out of shape. Sigh, I feel so sad when I see him all wet and out of shape. And now he's hanging on the clothes peg! Sorry Grimace! Bear with it for a while. :(

******

Today I feel long-winded and I have a lot of things to blog about.

First. The Amazing Race!

This season's the family edition, and there are now 4 people in a team instead of the usual 2. But it's rather disappointing that they don't get to travel to other countries. Instead, the first stop's Pennsylvania. Not even out of the US yet. And the poor teams, I think they had grander plans in mind, and those grander plans definitely do not include just driving around the States, judging from the video clips I watched on the website.

And when there are more people, it gets progressively noisier and more confusing. And there are so many faces and names! It's quite hard for the viewer to keep track. There are the shrieky sisters in pink, and the siblings in orange who kept saying that they don't want to lose out to a 8-year-old kid because they would have been SO embarassing, the very rude family (the Paolos) who kept arguing and arguing and arguing, and the cute little girl in blue! :)

Hopefully it'll get more exciting... but I still prefer the 2 people in a team format.

Second. Halu you idiot! Go and grab Aki by the shoulders and shake her vigorously and tell her "I will not let you go back to the ex-boyfriend that you wasted two years of your time on!" Then live happily ever after together and stop misusing the word "Maybe".

Don't know what I'm talking about? Go and watch Pride on Channel U!

Third. The Project Superstar Concert on Friday night! It was at the Max Pavilion at the Singapore Expo. One of those new halls that they built. Me and my sis rushed there only to realize that a whole lot of other people haven't entered the hall yet. So it started at 8.30pm, and ended at 11.30pm. We were seated near the front of the second half of the hall, can't really see very clearly but better than nothing lah. Thank goodness for the big screens.

I saw a lot of aunties and uncles, young girls and young boys, and those fans decked out in their various fan club t-shirts. Actually I'm quite surprised that there are so many aunties and uncles. It didn't strike me that they would be interested in attending some "shriek! shriek! when idol appears" concert.

The section we were seated at was rather tame. Not many of those enthusiastic youthful fans. They all probably bought the $98 tickets to be as close to their idols anyway. Even fluorescent light sticks were rarely seen in our section.

We took a lot of dark, grainy and blur photos, and recorded a lot of bad-quality sounding clips (illegally, of course :D).

This was taken when we moved closer to the front towards the end of the concert. You can see all the enthu fans in front waving signs and placards.

One of the few clearer photos we had.

There was the parody of the five judges and duets with some of the superstars' sisters, a couples section (and speaking of which, I saw Ruth and Sebastian near Orchard Cineleisure on Monday), the army boys' little solos and other rather interesting acts but we did not get to see Junyang perform on his French Horn as advertised! Grrr.

Weilian also performed on his guitar and the piano. And he could sing and play any song that the audience requested. Man, is there anything that this guy doesn't know? He can even play the piano rather well! Wahlao, I am put to shame. o___o

The singing wasn't all that wonderful; sometimes I think me and Ade can harmonize better than some of them, and that's saying a lot. Hahahaha. One person even forgot his lyrics. In fact I think if not for the witty Quan Yifeng who was the host for the night, and Weilian who was very candid in his speech, the concert would just have been so-so.

On our way out of the Expo Hall, there was this guy giving away KTV vouchers. Wahahaha. Being the cheapskate I am, I now I have 10 Party World KTV vouchers that expire only on the 15th of December. Friends!!! If you want to go Karaoke come and look for me!!!

Singapore Expo's 7-11 store is not open for 24 hours. Weird man. Why open a 7-11 store there then?

Luckily, me and my sis caught the last train to Tanah Merah or else we would have to spend a bomb on the cab fare home.

And that concludes our Superstar watching experience! Luckily I won the tickets instead of spending money on them.

Saturdays are truly boring... raaarrr! There are no TV shows to watch. There is no pressing need to read my readings, or do research for my projects, or to do anything academically inclined... I need to find something to do... maybe I should reconsider working at the music school on Saturdays, but I hate waking up early and I dread having to make small talk with Leong the Chatty Parent.

Now I wish I was some sporty babe who goes windsurfing/wakeboarding/dragonboat rowing/and assorted trainings during the weekends, like those you see in the Sunday Times beautiful bodies column. Then I can get a killer body and spend my weekends with all the other toned bodies you see springing up everywhere.

But then halfway through I'll probably not stick to this demanding routine because I am one big lazy person.

Or I wish I was some social butterfly who would have a never-ending stream of invitations to go out on Saturdays and act oh-so-busy because so many people want to date me! Then we would all look cool and eat a lot and shop a lot and talk a lot and walk a lot.

Haha, pathetic me.

Maybe I should just read my textbooks and worry about my test two weeks later... snort snort grunt grunt.

Because I am so bored, and because everybody whose blogs I read anonymously have done this "meme", or so they call it --

7 things that scare me:
1. Lizards
2. Landing myself in a job that I hate
3. Not knowing what to do in the future
4. Everybody being so accomplished while I am still nowhere
5. People around me gone forever
6. Eyeballs
7. People stabbing each other and shooting each other on TV, with all the sound effects

7 things I like most:
1. Chilli crab and the fried mantou
2. Earrings
3. Sweet corn ice-cream
4. Spending a nice day eating and chit-chatting with my friends
5. My bed
6. Strong winds and heavy rain at night, and the smell of rain on a cool night, especailly when a storm is approaching
7. Karaoke

7 important things in my room study room:
1. Grimace
2. The computer
3. The printer
4. The router
5. My photo albums
6. The book that Ichee gave me for my birthday
7. My earrings collection

7 random facts about me:
1. I carry a handkerchief when I'm out. Few girls do that anymore. I'm a rare species, haha.
2. I don't like gingko nuts.
3. I don't wear my specs at home so I watch TV by sitting very very near the TV screen. And I never dare to wear contact lenses.
4. I have a habit of sticking the comb in my hair after combing.
5. I will definitely be late for any appointment before 5pm. Bad habit, that. :)
6. I am about as expressive as a tissue box. That's why ballet didn't work out, my piano playing's bang-bang-bang, my cello teacher would cry out "Feel eet! Feel eet!!!" and Yanz says I sing without emotion. Hahaha.
7. I sleep late and wake up later.

7 things I plan to do before I die:
1. Meet Ian Thorpe, shake his hand, and take a picture with him. And maybe request that he give me a hug :D
2. Fall in love and then get heart-broken
3. Maybe skydive!
4. Be able to spend $500 a month shopping and not count my pennies after that
5. Pay off my school tuition fees and driving lesson fees
6. Buy a car!
7. Go globe-trotting

7 things I can do:
1. Swim
2. Cycle
3. Drive. Well, almost. :)
4. Do hulas, but only with my special hula hoop.
5. SMS without looking at the screen while walking
6. Curl my tongue/flip my tongue over
7. Make that "RRRRRRRRRRRRRR" sound which my sisters can't :)

7 things I can't do:
1. Those cartwheels/somersault things
2. Spilts
3. Dance
4. Be sociable in unfamiliar situations
5. Dig my own ears
6. Reduce the size of my tummy
7. Touch my eyeballs with my finger. EEKS.

7 things I say the most:
1. Wahlao
2. Damn
3. Huh. or Huh? or Huh! or Huh?! depending on the situation. The punctuation is extremely important.
4. HMMMMMMMMMMM. (Loudly, like a cow grunting.) Usually used in response when your parents ask you annoying questions or repeat the same thing for the nth time.
5. 等一下
6. Thank you
7. Take 2 tablets 3 times a day...

7 people that will have to do this
1. No need for seven. Anyone who's also bored on a Saturday can do this.

amoure
You like the sweet, shy type.

What kind of guy are you most attracted to?
brought to you by Quizilla

This one isn't accurate, but I think the picture is cute! :D

A new Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire trailer here!

I dreamt that I got retrenched from my part-time job because of "rising oil prices". Like Huh???

I went to Mediacorp to collect the tickets yesterday. The man held out the tickets face-down and I picked a pair of $58 tickets! And my mom agreed to work for me today. Was so worried that I couldn't attend the concert because nobody could cover for me.

Okie dokes! I've got a driving lesson soon. Tata.

I'm so excited! My heart is racing! My hands are clammy! My sister is asleep so she can't share my joy (we've been trying our luck for the past few days) but I went to wake her up anyway!

I went to IMH on Monday for a visit. It was really pleasant, kinda like a resort. I wouldn't mind working there next time. It's a stone's throw away from my grandmother's house, 20 minutes from my house and there is no peak hour traffic! Woohoo!

We sat through some talk by the CEO, a psychologist, a psychiatrist and an occupational therapist, followed by a tour around the compound. It wasn't very exciting though. I kinda wanted to go to the wards to have a look. Hehehehe.

The rest of my term-break was spent mostly on driving lessons. It poured almost everyday when I had lessons. Freak weather man. The sun's bright and hot when I leave my house but when I reach YCK all the dark clouds start appearing.

The Friendly Instructor I had on Wednesday's lesson chatted with me about everything and anything, including the lack of our love lives in 100 minutes. Hahaha. But most of all, Friendly Instructor made me feel good and eternally optimistic about myself. :)

I cut my hair on Tuesday and it really is quite short, but nevermind, my hair grows fast.

That is what I did during my term-break. Sigh, the toughest part of the semester is yet to come.

This is rather premature, but seeing the sheer amount of effort needed in planning, thinking, organizing and etc, I thought I'd be considerate and put up a wishlist! :)

So after thinking long and hard... hard and long... I have come up with a list! Please note that it is not comprehensive.

1. Hongbaos
I ask for this every year but every year nobody gives me this. Hongbaos are good! Just give me all the cash that you would take to spend on a present. But everybody says they are not qualified to give hongbaos. In that case, I also accept cheques and fund transfers. All for the sake of that iPod Nano/handphone/digital camera...
No one-cent coins please (looks at Saint and Empress).
I doubt anyone would take my words seriously so on to the next item...

2. Vouchers
Vouchers are the next best thing to a hongbao! Vouchers are good! As for the type of vouchers... clothes vouchers are good! Nowadays there's no more school uniform. Honestly I prefer the school uniform to own-wear. No need to think so much in the morning, especially when you are running late. Books vouchers... hmm I already bought Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, so there's no other books to buy... I don't mind getting Harry Potter books 1, 2 and 4 to complete the entire series. That's a bit waste money though, because I've already read them and I'll be buying them just to stuff them in my overcrowded bookshelves.

For some weird reason I am not in love with shoes like all other ladies. I suppose my mad-about-shoes genes got converted into a mad-about-earrings one. I only have that few pairs of footwear and I wear them till they rot and stink. Yeah so don't get me shoes.

3. Bags
Bags are good... anyway do they sell bags vouchers? A little bag that's big enough to hold my tupperware waterbottle but small enough just for going-out is good hehe.

4. Belts
Belts are good because all my jeans are dropping or maybe I am scared that they will reveal my granny underwear so yeah! My waist size is 29. Don't underestimate and get one that can't even wrap around half my waist.

5. Return airfare to Bangkok
Nowadays plane tickets very cheap right? Hahaha. This is inclusive of company, okay. No fun going alone.

6. A big lunch/dinner treat
Food's the way to my heart! Hahahaha. Pay for my meal at some posh looking place and I will be eternally grateful because I won't have to wash the bowls.

7. Bo liao stuff
Yeah this is where Empress and Saint come in. Quirky stuff, sick stuff, funny stuff, and just plain nonsensical stuff. I welcome them with open arms!

8. My own Karaoke set
So that I can annoy the hell out of my neighbours and compete with the uncle who likes to sing oldies loudly. :D

9. Something to shut my little sister up when she does her wailing thing at 2am
Maybe an orange will do.

10. And if all else fails...
You can always get me earrings. Haha you will never go wrong with that. :) No necklaces, bracelets, anklets, and whateverlets.

And if you decide not to get me a present, I will blacklist you and send a curse over your way. Hahahaha.

Giant packet of chips spotted at bus stop!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

***

A few schoolgirls from XXX school alighted from the bus and one group crossed the road, while the other group stayed on my side of the road.
The dialogue below is what I (and everyone in the surrounding blocks) overheard at the bus stop (it's a different bus stop from Giant Chips).

This girl hollers across the road to her friend (it was so loud I could hear the echo reverberating around the blocks of flats):

"大猪! I'll miss you!"

"大猪! 我爱你!"

"大猪! 打给你!"

Girl across the road shouts "大奶!"
Girl on my side shouts back "大猪!"

"大奶!"
"大猪!"
"大奶!"
"大猪!"
"大奶!"
"大猪!"

This goes on for a while...

The other people at the bus stop were staring uneasily at them...

And they carry on their friendly (and loud) banter. Still shouting across the road to each other.

"肥肉!"
"肥油!"
"大奶!"
*shouting match fades as they walk away*

(大奶-girl doesn't have 大奶 lor. I checked. Hahaha.)

Wah lao, is this how secondary school kids talk nowadays? This is their lingo? Got generation gap liao man. Tsk tsk tsk.

Full circle

My grandma would bring me to school when I was young. She was our main care-giver and a big nag. But I suppose all grandmothers are naggy.
Now she's older, and I'm older, and it's my turn to bring her home.
Her memory is failing and she can't recognize the places in the dark.

I used to be shorter than my grandma (that's quite an obvious statement) and she would grab me roughly by the wrist/arm/elbow and lead me across the road. I hated that.

Grandma wanted to give me $10.
In the past I would take it unabashedly. Now I would feel disgusted with myself if I accepted it. I don't even take money from my parents now, what more from my grandmother. $10, nothing 2 hours of work can't give me.

I am at the bus stop and I see a small dark figure peering over the 10th floor railing. I count the units and floors from where I am standing. I give a big wave and she waves back. Aw, so sweet, I think. Grandma wants to make sure that I board the bus safe and sound.

It was then, that I was glad that my mother made me send my grandmother back home.

Meet Grimace!

Seated like a king

If you are a McDonald's fan in the not-so-olden days, you will recognize Grimace, together with Ronald McDonald, Birdie and Hamburglar. Nowadays you hardly see this gang of four except for the flaming red hair, whose presence can be found seated outside every McDonalds outlet.

Grimace is my loyal friend, silent supporter and comfort object. I don't know what is it about this purple glob with a red cap that captured my young heart, but I was strangely endeared to it and therefore Grimace was given special status among all the other soft toys.

Grimace is small (no bigger than my palm), squishy, and has a small dent in his stomach because I used to hold him there and watch his legs dangle. He used to live in a cap filled with tissue, but now he has better sleeping quarters made out of a box. He had his own book, his own pillow, his own spectacles, his own clothes (still has them, btw).

For the longest time I issued a female gender to Grimace. Little girls gravitate towards "female" objects, maybe? Haha. Now I accept that he's more or less male. I mean he's purple, he wears a cap, he has a gruffy speaking voice in advertisements, and he doesn't look distinctly female to me. Maybe he's gay (since he's purple)! But let's not go into that. So disturbing okay haha.

Sometimes my uncles and aunty (who bought me Grimace!) will comment "Still playing with that?" when they see him sitting serenely on my table. (For the record, I don't play with him anymore -- he just sits on my table and keeps me company.) My uncle even bought me other Grimaces because he thought I liked them.

My small collection of Grimaces

But I don't like ALL Grimaces, I only like that particular Grimace with a red cap (doesn't look so bald).

Grimace is getting old. I think he should be about 10 or 11 years old by now, which is quite old for someone of his species I think. Grimace even has liver spots.

No actually, I think Grimace just hasn't had a bath for a very long time. Goodness knows how many dust mites there are in him.

Muack muack! I love Grimace!!! :)

Happy Mooncake Day Mid-Autumn Festival! :)

Recently I got hooked onto Bejeweled2. If I have any spare moment online you will most probably find me playing Bejeweled. Darn sad, I know. But I like the boom! sound it makes when I create power gems and hyper cubes and they all explode together. The more the merrier, the louder the boom! I feel very 爽 when I hear the boom!

It so happens that today me and my mom were working together at the clinic. On the way home from work, my mother tried to strike up a conversation with me about my university friends, or rather, the lack of them. Darn sad, I know. I already had this conversation with her once before, patiently explaining to her that I only know people by sight, everyone is just simply another student among the thousands, and I only see my tutorial mates for 2 hours every fortnight. It's not like the good old days of JC and Secondary school where I'm plonked into a fixed class and I see the same people day in day out.

Mom thinks that because there are so many people in university, I should have many many many friends! But your daughter is no social butterfly. Darn sad, I know. And I have my suspicions to what this conversation is leading to.

Some random discussions with my friends led to the conclusion that Arts students generally suffer from this condition more than students from other faculties. Some are just plain unhappy. Some just can't be bothered. Some live in the halls, so they're not counted.

All this while, as my mom tried to probe into my life, I thought of the talk I had this afternoon on a bench in a shopping mall. Yes, I went KTVing with my JC friends; no, I didn't pay more than $10 for 2.5hrs of singing; yes, there are so-so-so and so-so-so in my group of friends; no, 我跟在大学认识的朋友都不熟。 These answers seem to satisfy her.

Who needs a number to tell you that you've grown wiser and older?

Yesterday while running for the bus, I realized with great trepidation that I am severely unfit.
I barely ran 50 metres and I am already panting like a dog. So horrible right.

Obviously swimming doesn't really result in an overall increase in your level of fitness and stamina (and a decrease in the amount of flab), because even though I can still deal with 10 laps before the panting kicks in, I can't say the same for running!

In the distant past when I was still clad in school attire, I could do the Run For The Bus As Though Your Life Depended On It sprint. Yeah no problemo! Easy peasy lemon squeezy. That was my idea of exercise anyway. And it's not that hard to do the RFTBATYLDOI sprint (wah long acronym) when you are late for school for the 5th consecutive day and your teacher is looking damn buay song.

Once I ran from one bus stop to another and when I finally boarded the bus trying not to look as though I was hyperventilating, I realized that the centre pleat of my skirt was facing west. Hahaha. So that means that during the course of running, my skirt turned 90 degrees anticlockwise! So embarassing okay, everyone on the bus probably thought I didn't know how to wear my school skirt properly. Then I had to discreetly adjust the pleat to face north. To this date I can't figure out how it turned hahahaha.

Yah so back to being unfit. Not only just running for the bus, every time after I climb 2 flights of steps my thighs and calves will be screaming at me and I will be huffing and puffing, trying to heave myself up or else I will be late for lecture/tutorial/etc. And NUS has ALOT of steps because it's built on bloody uneven land (like SN... like NJ... why are all the schools I go to built on a freaking hill?!) so everytime I appear in class with messy hair, red-faced, sweaty (especially if Mr. Sun's feeling particularly bright and cheery) and short of breath. So unglam. Curses!

So I started thinking, maybe I should incorporate some jogging into my lifestyle. Even though I hate running (except after buses. Buses and me, we have some kind of personal vendetta), maybe I should go trot around the track (start with trotting first, I don't think I can deal with a full-fledged jog at this level of unfitness) whenever I can.

Yeah sounds great to me! I should really really implement it. The last time I went jogging was about one year ago I think.

Now seriously seriously seriously. In all seriousness...

Aw shucks! Forget it. I'll never be able to instill such discipline in myself. Frankly I never understood how some people can go to the gym like 5 days a week to work out. That is so boring!

Haven't done these sort of quizes for quite some time...

Oh! And I ate tao huey at the tao huey stall outside SN today! And I felt so old and dignified. Hahahahaha.
FEED ME ORANGE BOWL SOMEBODY!!!!

And I also passed my Final Theory Test! :)
Don't learn from me because I only read the book half an hour before the test started. Hahahaha. :D

I am getting all warm and fuzzy and smiling happily at the screen while reading AKK's blog (visit her blog at akkueh.blogspot.com). I visited her blog once for the "jit ba ban" song before The Sunday Times featured her blog and I think my singing voice is more horrible than hers hahaha but that's not the point. The point is, being the voyeuristic person I am, I prowled through her archives and even though I don't even know who she is, I feel so damn happy for her can! Because because because! They way she got together with her ex-swimmer boyfriend is so sweet!!! *melts* OMG! Do such romantic fairy tales exist in this day and age? I thought only romance novels and TV shows have such lovely saccharine stories that causes my sugar level to shoot up.

It's like we readers are sharing her joy and happiness and the growth of her relationship!
I sound rather like a stalker huh. :p

Read the entry about her trying to peek at her boyfriend's washboard abs - it's bloody hilarious!

After watching a little of Pride (the Japanese ice-hockey show that's currently showing on Channel U) I can understand why Xiuhui is so smitten with Takuya Kimura. He makes me want to swoon for reasons unknown to myself!

Anyhow, yay it's the term break!!! :) :) :)
Half a semester's gone just like that.

In the lab again. Bored again. :( Raaarrr!!!

2 more hours!

I had a hilarious afternoon playing with dry ice (damn cheap thrill, we are), sampling that freaking expensive $16 Haagen Daz mooncake (the most expensive mooncake I've ever ingested in my whole life, methinks) and eating eating eating.

The mooncake comes packaged nicely. To justify the $16 you just spent.

Looks like chocolate cake.

Ah, now we see the mango sorbet! Which is incidentally, DAMN NICE!!!

We discovered a pack of dry ice and started to play with it. Bored people do bored things. Hurhurhur. :) You can't see the CO2 clearly in this pic.
I think the patrons of the Taka food court thought we were bonkers.

Add some water, and the dry ice sublimates!!! Wheeee! Exciting man.
See the smoke!!!

Our lame attempt at trapping the smoke. Hahahahaha. It's freaking hilarious :)

By right, this $16 mooncake shouldn't be called a mooncake because it tastes nothing like a mooncake and it only looks like a mooncake. It's just ICE CREAM. We bought the macadamia nut flavour so it's just macadamia nut ice cream with a layer of chocolate. Like those with a vanilla ice cream centre and a coat of chocolate on the outside. But I like the mango sorbet. Yum!

A once-in-a-year indulgence. Yummm...
Probably won't try it again next year. I have my sights set on the $80 for 3 Premium Liqueur Ice Cream Mooncake, heh heh heh.

I got an email saying something about a t-shirt design for NTS and I have to submit it by 14th Sept. Huh? Huh?! Since when did I volunteer myself for t-shirt designing? Or is this some kind of mandatory thing where everyone is expected to submit something? I know NUTS about designing. I can't draw! I have zilch creativity!

And tomorrow I have a four-hour break. *groan*
There's nothing to do!!!
Of course, I could lug my heavy textbooks and read them in the library... but do I want to lug the texts all the way to school? No.
Think I'll just read the trashy book I borrowed, sleep, and study for my Final Theory Test this Friday.

Ulcers! Ow! Ow! Ow!!!

(I want the i-pod Nano!)

In the computer lab (again).

Seems to me that I spend more time rotting in school than attending lessons.

I want to go Bangkok to shop!
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

On Saturday we had lunch at The Rice Table. Then we visited the mooncake fair and I spent most of my time dodging and squeezing. Through the throngs of people, I mean. Then we went to walk about and I bought nice button retro earrings.
And I love my retro earrings! :)

The end.

I want to eat this!!!!

*salivates*

Haagen Daz's Ice Cream mooncake! $16 per piece! It's freaking expensive! But I still want to eat it!!!

And we've got a new layout! Rather sterile and boring though. Haha.

After the terrible, terrible night trying to make sense of boring articles and journals, it was no surprise that I overslept and was late for the KTV session with Yanz and Xiuhui. But it was fun! Too many loud songs a voiceless Si Yi makes. And haha we sure entertained ourselves and the K-box staff outside. Strepsils, my good friend! I cometh!

Photos not available because all incriminating evidence should not be published. :D

And I really hope this will not degenerate into a once-a-year affair... even though sometimes the lesser the time you get to spend with others, the more enjoyable and precious it will seem to be.

Yay, yay! Finished up my part for the Jap studies project after dozing off for an hour or so in between typing, enduring my little sister's sleep-screeching and running to my bed.

How to wake up tomorrow?! Die man.

Anyhow, I just realized that today's quite a "good" day to get married! Hahaha. Okay irrelavant.

Hidey-ho! I'm at the computer labs whiling the hours away. One and a half more hours to the NTS meeting at 6pm. So bored, there's nothing to do in school. Should have brought a book or something to read. :(

The MSN web messenger doesn't seem to work with the school computers.

Got a lot of wrong characters I think. Haha yes I know I am damn lousy. Let's have more fun with Chinese since I'm so bloody bored and I have nothing to do!

(Hopefully I can waste one whole hour typing Chinese characters.)

这世界多可爱充满欢笑和乐趣
让我们在一起开开心心的相聚
夏日里的笑声我们不怕风风雨雨
以后的彩虹将会更美丽!

Cookie points for those who managed to guess this song. :D

***

The above has shown that even though my 唐诗 cannot make it, I am still in touch with my Chinese through stupid songs!!! For that, I have KTV to thank. Hahaha.

Wah it's only 5.05pm... more stupid Chinese songs! (takes me a greater effort and a longer time to type Chinese lah.)

Heh heh... you've seen this coming.

10 mins to type that. Blogging can really waste a lot of time!

Now I'm hungry and bored. 6pm, come quickly!!!

I am so sleepy.

My punctual eggs are going mad. Hmmm, maybe it's because of the jabs? (Re: keloids)
But I know I have it good compared to other people. That is why I appreciate my eggs for being punctual and not giving me much trouble, except for the occassional stomach cramp, the added grumpiness and the overwhelming need to sleep at inappropriate times. But then again, I always have an overwhelming need to sleep all the time, eggs effect or not.

I have a project that I know nuts about, I don't know how to use the school's library catalogue, I'm lagging behind my work and the growing pile of readings, and I have just been informed that my Pri 6 cousin whom I am tutoring on-off failed her Maths prelims, and barely managed to pass her English. No no no I am not stressed, I am still taking life easy. Easy peasy lemon squeezy, or so my little sis would say.

Haha I love that. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!!! LOL. :)

"Finity" also makes me want to laugh like a maniac. LOL. According to my little sis, "finity" is the very very last number of the whole number system. It has many many many zeros. But somehow there is "finity and one", "finity and two", "finity and three" etc.

I just managed to snag a much coveted 10.30am slot for tomorrow! Yay!!!
Happy!
But still sleepy.

I need a haircut.

My MSN hangs when I log in.

I have a ton of readings to do.

Gulp. :(

This is crazy man, i-Weekly seems to be completely sold out. I went to three different stores/mama shops last night and couldn't find a single copy left. Even the mama shop at the LRT station has no more copies! Who thinks it's because of the Superstar cover story?

Anybody has i-Weekly? Lend me please?

In my thirst for more Superstar news, I bought 8 Days, Wanbao and some i-Weekly 特报 since I couldn't get the real thing. Some Kelly fans said they didn't vote like madmen during the finals so that Kelly can get the Universal Music contract instead of the Play Music contract. Hahaha. Actually it didn't make much sense to me, Universal Music should be the better recording company right? So how come they're signing the runner-up instead of the winner?

And I am actually reading Chinese newspapers! Wow!!! :D

I also voted for the first time ever since this Superstar competition started. But sadly Kelly did not win. I thought the vote margin would be smaller, like maybe 48% and 52%, but surprisingly it's 36% and 64%! Woah, it just shows how many fans Weilian has, even though I get the impression that most are over-protective aunties who would call in to radio stations and write to newspapers to complain once they spot a any slight disadvantage that he faced during the grand finals.

Okay and this I must blog about. The duet (屋顶! THE song for all harmonizing wannabes) that Junyang and Xinhui sang together was damn nice can! OMG. *eyes glazes over*

Move over, Candyce. I say Junyang and Xinhui have terrific chemistry! And they look good together! *eyes glazes over again*
我们有同样的默契!!!

Must! Practice! Hard! (because I am also a harmonizing wannabe.)

Me and my sis discovered a microphone lurking around at home and had some fun with psuedo-karaoking! Woot! :D

Also, President Nathan was sworn in, and New Orleans was left devastated by Hurricane Katrina. More Superstar franchise coming up, what with Star Idol and Campus Superstar, and I'm off to download more clips! Tootles.

There isn't much to blog about. But it's the end of the month, so I thought I should blog something to round off the August archives neatly. Haha.

My little sister is sick and so she's being a brat. She's a brat most of the time anyway, so actually there's not much difference.

Being the slacker I am, I decided to give myself a very free semester and dropped the 7-hours-a-week Japanese module. The slacking's just a nice way to say that I cannot cope with module because I am too lazy to devote time to it.

So when I complain during the next two semesters about the workload of 6 modules, please direct me back to this post and tell me that I deserve it.

I also spotted a woman on the MRT who kept peeling the leather off her handbag and conveniently littered the floor with those little scrapes of leather or whatever material that is. Then she shuffled her feet and tried to push the little scrapes of leather under the seats. Why is this important? Ah well I don't know why this is important, I only know that it made me feel very annoyed. So I stared at her peeling away at her bag. I think her fingers were just itchy. Peel, litter, glance around ever so surreptitiously, and shuffle feet. So I tried to give her the dirtiest look I could muster because I don't like people who litter.

I also went to Bugis Village yesterday because I got bored with my wardrobe. Most of the things there are for XS-sized girls, so I couldn't find anything nice. Speaking of which, I observed today that a lot of girls have skinny waists. For most days of the year, I don't really care about other people's skinny waists. But today I just see skinny waists everywhere! Yanz has a skinny waist. Shuhui has a skinny waist. How did they achieve their skinny waists? Good metabolism? Eat like a bird? Maybe I should consider eating like a bird too, instead of eating like a pig.

Heck, I think I like eating like a pig too much to eat like a bird. Cows have it good man; they have four stomachs. Imagine the things I could eat if I had four stomachs! I can conquer all the buffet tables!

Today I also spent a lot of money. If I complain that I am poor, tell me I deserve it for spending so much money on beads.

Yes, this is a completely pointless entry.

And yay I love photos.

Crikey!!!!! I did it.

Yep. I've cleared away the books and stored them in the cupboard for future reference, if I ever need them.

I've stashed away last semester's notes.

I've made a list of pros and cons to reassure myself.

I am actually quite convinced already... (or am I not?)

All that's left is for me to do it!
Click the damn "Drop" button!

Stop hesitating!

[2.42am Edit: I clicked the "Drop" button, but I got cold feet, so I didn't click the "Confirm" button. Makes everything seem so final, that devastating word. I will drop. Tomorrow.]

Yay, Lecturer X has done it again! He posted an incredibly curt and rude-sounding message on the forum saying that he will not upload the lecture notes earlier and if we can't print the notes beforehand then "have some common sense and ask your friends to print/photocopy a copy for you" before the lecture. What the hell! You smelly old dingbat. You annoying git. My opinion of you has dropped to the negative range.

Last night we sprang a birthday surprise on the unsuspecting Xiuhui. I had to leave early though, so after some cake and photo-taking, I zipped home. Surprisingly 852 only took half an hour to get me from her house to Ang Mo Kio. Well there was hardly any traffic and the bus uncle was cruising his way through. I love these type of bus uncles who cruise their way through. :)

Anyway, Happy Birthday Xiuhui! :)
Mad, Yanz, please send me the photos!

I feel like I'm perpetually very sleepy these days. I fell asleep while attempting to tackle my homework last night, and woke up at 4am to finish it. Bah. I also felt as lost as Little Bo Peep's sheep during my TB tutorial today. I felt dumb and stupid. What on earth was I doing in a class where everyone was speaking in a foreign tongue fluently?

I need to wake up at 2pm and sleep at 5am. Help.

Lecturer X is incredibly, incredibly annoying. He's rude and sacarstic and impatient and unapproachable and has mannerisms like Willy Wonka. Or so my friend says.
I can't help it, he left a rather bad first impression on me.

Now I've found another thing to be annoyed about! Lecturer X does not practice the act of uploading the lecture notes well before the lecture, which most other nice, kind, considerate and genial lecturers do. By "well before the lecture" I mean at least the night before the lecture. Not on the bloody day itself! Hoi, some people don't stay at home all day just to wait for your notes to appear on the IVLE workbin okay. Some people have lessons to attend in the morning! And not everyone has access to a laptop, or stays in hall. At least be considerate. Upload the notes well before the lecture!

I'm damn unhappy with my timetable. No time for driving lessons, no time for tuition, no time to go and see the doctor, no time to buy beads. I just spotted a 12.45pm slot for tomorrow and a 2.40pm slot for next Monday! Prime time slots for the student on holiday! But not for the student with a lousy timetable. Oh how I miss snatching slots. Gives me a kick sometimes.

Got sick of reading about some boring Japan history.

Tutorials start tomorrow. Too fast, too soon.

Primary school kids have it good nowdays. Two days of holidays just because of the PSLE Oral Examinations!

I've been reading a lot of comments about the Superstar results. It seems that a lot of people don't think Weilian should be the one getting into the grand finals. So how come things turned out the way they are? I think it's the sympathy votes. It's always the controversial sympathy votes issue. According to this article at the Superstar website, Weilian's votes soared after Quan Yifeng announced the touching story about him calling the producer. Doesn't that seem like soliciting for votes? Tug at people's heartstrings and they will think, aiyah, he's not that bad, maybe I should help vote for him and you've earned a vote or two. It's like asking people to call 1900-112-6868! This is not a charity show, you know. My sister's theory is that due to the nature of his votes (few votes voted by a wide range of people, as compared to many votes coming from a single person), it is highly likely that the above scenario happened.

Alright I don't know what I'm saying. I can't explain myself very well now. His disability can be against him or working for him. Whatever it is, do you think a blind superstar will do very well?

Today was another of those days. Couldn't get my desired tutorial slot despite going all the way down to school for 5 pathetic minutes. Damn that inflexible, rigid lecturer!!! But I am quite a bad liar. I was trying to maintain a steady gaze and a steady voice while lying. The steady gaze worked somewhat, but the steady voice ended up sounding quite wobbly. I cooked up a rather pathetic excuse that I had tuition so I can't attend the tutorial but he won't let me change slots because "it is not a University-related programme". Bloody hell!!! Can't you just let one more student into the class?!?!?!

Now my timetable is damn BLEAH! I'd gladly trade last semester's timetable for this horrible timetable. 4 hours of break on even week Tuesdays. Great. Wonderful. And did I mention I was bored to death rotting in the library for that same 4 hours on Tuesday?

Anyway since the whole manual registration process only took 5 mins I was way too early for my driving lesson. Wahlao I should have left my house later, then can probably sleep for an hour more!!! Grrrrr. So I rotted in the USP computer lab with Shuhui and her friend for a while and left at 1255pm to go for my driving lesson at 240pm. On my way out of AS6 this lady asked me where AS7 is. AS7 is right on the other side so instead of giving her boggled instructions I thought I'd be nice and so I offered to bring her there.

Okay then we got to AS7 and she said something about wanting to scan something. So we went to the comp labs and tried to scan it and after I fiddled and diddled with the computers and scanners (because she didn't know how to use it) and generally wasting a lot of time, she finally got her resume scanned. I found out that she's actually a Masters student doing engineering and she's from Myanmar. The whole situation was kind of like confusing because half the time I didn't understand what she wanted. Okay so kind deed of the day -- done. By this time it was 140pm and I was going to be horribly late for my driving lesson.

Then I missed bus 96. Stupid 96, had to wait for so long for it to come. I was expecting frequencies of one bus in 3-4 mins! Then I had to wait 6 mins for the train to Jurong East. Then I had to wait 7 mins for the train to move off from the middle platform in Jurong East. BLEARGH!!!! Majorly late for driving lesson! How? Take cab again. $7 on the cab fare from Sembawang to Yio Chu Kang! Plus I was 15 mins late for my lesson! Damn lugi okay!

Dammit lah! I've been spending so much money on taxis! What the hell!!!

Does it pay to be a kind samaritan? NO!!!

And while I was having my lesson a near-accident happened. I was stuck in the middle of two lanes, right in the middle of the dotted lines, obstructing traffic. Very good.
And smart me, after reading out loud the sign "Please give way to major roads" (or something to that effect) just mere seconds before reading "Turn left on red", I saw a red light and wanted to turn left without giving way to the main traffic! *smacks head*
Luckily, the instructor was more amused than disgusted. Nice guy, today's instructor.

Rambled too much. I always ramble too much. I am still disgusted by my horrible timetable and that horrible lecturer. Did I mention that I have no webcasted lectures this semester? No webcasts!!! Bah!!!

Nobody online to shout with!!!

The vice-dean sent an email about "Problems with CORS". Hah, problems. That's putting it a bit mildly.

Do they have any idea of the frustration of the entire NUS population trying to log in to ballot for their tutorials while the website crawled slowly? How everyone was staring at their laptops only to be greeted by the message that the server is unavailable? How we couldn't bid for our desired modules and started panicking because the time was up and we still couldn't log in?

So being the "world-class instituition" (if they were world-class this stupid CORS nonsense wouldn't have happened) that they are, they're conducting a dialouge session to "hear our concerns first-hand". IT'S ABOUT TIME MAN!

Someone also started an online petition petition about bloody CORS.

And The Amazing Race 8 will be showing on September 27th, US time! So that'll be September 28th for us. Yay yay yay!!! :)

Oh yeah and what else did I want to say... my timetable sucks and I have no webcasted modules this semester. Bah!

Wahlao. I am damn upset now.

And shocked.

And disappointed.

Aghast.

Heartbroken. :(

:'(

One thing to say:

WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

~!#%*&$*^&$%^$~!:"<}{}{]][<>?"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Junyang and Xinhui did not get into the grand finals! Especially Junyang!!! Wahlao! What the hell!!!!! How can like that?!?!?!

The stupid jackpot machine flashed Junyang's face for that one heart-stopping second then it changed to Weilian's face!!!! OMG!!! I am terribly disappointed. He does not deserve this. He does not deserve to be out! His place should be in the finals! Plus it was his birthday yesterday, the poor guy. What a horrible birthday present!!!

NUSSU even sent an email out to ask us to vote for him. But did I? No. Because I am a passive fan. Arrrggghhhh! Should have parted with that $0.60 in exchange for a stupid vote.

I used to think that the female competition was going to be quite boring and Kelly would be a shoo-in until Xinhui the dark horse improved by leaps and bounds! She outsang Kelly today, surely anyone can hear that!!! Hoi!!! Why Xinhui never get in?!?!?!??!?!!

My sis told me that she heard from sources that they rigged the votes during the revival round, so that Derrick and Kelly would have gotten in no matter what. Well? So why didn't they rig it this time? Honestly, Weilian is not bad, but we're talking about SUPERSTAR here!!!

HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN?! I'm still fuming from the injustice of it all!!!

Plus, I didn't get the tutorial slot that I wanted! I was supposed to take the tutorial with Shuhui and Karen but I didn't get it! Damn irritated with myself now! Should have ranked that slot #1! If nobody swaps with me from now till 9am, I'll have to go down to NUS tomorrow to beg the lecturer to let me into the tutorial! Raaaarrr! And tomorrow's my free day too! Travelling all the way to school to try and make something impossible happen, what do you think my odds are???!
Well at least today there was an article on my favourite swimmer in the papers. That perked me up. A little.
