Here's the stuff that's making me grow fatter. :(

A small sampling of what I ate in the past week.
Only a fraction of all the stuff that's entered my stomach.

That last picture is 3 styrofoam boxes worth of durian seeds.

Haha no wonder I feel more rotund than ever.

And there are a lot of cookies/tarts/nonsense at home, all leftovers from CNY. Coz apparently when my relatives came they were too busy gambling to eat the stuff. Hahaha.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Yesterday I had an innocent conversation with someone and soon we stumbled on the topic of Korean music/variety shows and guess what!!!! She's also as into Korean stuff as I am!!! Wahahahaha. It's really delightful when you find someone who shares a common interest. Suddenly you have a lot of things to yak about and it helps to break down all the invisible barriers that one usually has with a stranger, don't you think?

And fangirling is always more fun when you have a companion who is as crazy as you. Hahahaha.
She is more into DBSK and I am still smitten by Shinhwa, but it's great to finally have someone who understands what you are spouting about, like Xman, Park Myung Soo who is bloody hilarious and Clubbox (which is uber slow especially when downloading old clips).

Actually I thought she said she loved Dongwan at first (and I squealed back, I love Dongwan too!!!) and we released some excited squeals in the lift at the sheer delight of finding another like-minded fangirl, but after a while I realized what she actually said was she loved Dong Bang (i.e. Dong Bang Shin Ki). LOL.

And there's a Korea University Summer Programme (which was what got us started on this conversation) but I realized that they don't open it to ARS3 students! Dammit!!! Dammit dammit dammit!!! I really want to gooooooooooooooooo!!!! ARGGGHHHH why am I ARS3 NOW when I want to be ARS2!!! :( :( :( :( :(

Today I really feel like blogging alot alot alot. Hahaha. Yes so I will be back.

Reticulospinal tract, vestibulospinal tract, globus pallidus, substantia nigra, nucleus accumbens, intralaminar nuclei...

All these words don't mean a thing to me... I don't even know what they are or where they are located or what function they serve. All gobbledydook, all of them.

All the diagrams... I don't know what they're trying to explain. Visual imagery doesn't work in this case.

My textbook is so reader-unfriendly. For every other paragraph I read, I come across some cheem, polysyllabic word that describes some brain part or some tract or some pathway or maybe all of the above. Can they stop using such cheem bio words? They should follow the ABCs of media writing. Don't use complex words like "anterior" or "posterior" when "front" and "back" will suffice! Gah! It doesn't aid comprehension at all!

Sian why must Bio Psych be an essential module... WHY.

RAWRRR not making much progress in trying to understand all that gobbledydook.

RAWRRR and can my mother stop dumping the laundry basket in the room and expect me to fold them.

So much nonsense to do:

Tuesday:
- PL3232 mid-term (it's worth 40%!!!) and I've only skimmed through one chapter. Haha. Good luck to me.
- Meeting story I just managed to cough out something that would hopefully pass off as a meeting story.

Thursday:
- Field trip report
- Profile

Friday:
- Policy paper

Okay now that I've sorted it out in this linear form it doesn't look like there's a lot left. Hahahaha.

NO THERE'S A LOT LEFT. The Bio Psych is enough to kill my brain cells.

WHERE IS MY TERM BREAK?!?!?!??!!

Hehehehehehehehehe I am going to fangirl again. :D

Read today's ST Life! and you will know that ERIC might be coming to Singapore to film his new drama!!! OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *squeals*

Come please!!! Come!!! I missed you when you came last September!!! Come so that I can stalk you and chase after you like a crazy groupie!!! LOL.

And he's coming out with a solo album in the later part of the year too! (This I read on Soompi.)

Hahahaha and today I saw Shinhwa collection cards in Comics Connection and I was damn happy. But then it's not very fun fangirling alone coz there's no one to "SHINHWA!!!!!!!!!" with me. So I have to keep my excitement to myself. Sigh. Yah I think I'm going crazy. I was even happy when I heard a Korean professor at the table where I was sitting at during the Industry Advisory Council Panel Discussion lunch speak Korean. Hahaha.

I also spotted this article in ST that is of personal interest to me:

Kara-not-ok for the throat
Japanese doctors report a surge in vocal cord polyps due to excessive warbling.
Karaoke may be a glorious outlet for unrecognized musical genius, but for millions of caterwauling karaoke lovers, it may be the cause of a fearful epidemic.
...
...
...
... blah blah.

Doctors say that the only way to avoid polyp growth is to exercise moderation - three full-throated karaoke songs in one evening are enough for the untrained voice.
...
...
...
THREE SONGS? Hahaha you are kidding me. :p

My arm and legs are aching!!! And from my amazing sleuthing skills -hurhurhur- I've attributed the cause of the aches to be from driving! Coz I didn't do anything except eat, sit and drive yesterday. And eating and sitting down has proven to have no visible side effects (except for maybe weight gain which is not very visible unless you don't choose the path of delusion). So yes it sounds absurd but my (left) arm and legs are aching from DRIVING. *sweatdrop*

This proves two things:
1. I am very unfit. A mere 1 hour drive makes me ache!
2. Driving is actually an intensive resistance-training activity in disguise.

I have further analysed the situation and decided that my left leg aches more because controlling the clutch is a lot more difficult. You have to keep depressing and hovering to get that what'sthatpoint. Breaking point? Engine point? Clutch point? Darn I forgot what's that point called!!! Yah that one that moves the car off. Else the engine will stall. Try doing that in 7cm tall wedges. Haha.

My left arm aches coz... of the gear knob! The reverse gear requires some arm power to activate because you have to pull some funny thing before you can shift it to reverse. And I had to reverse plenty of times judging from the number of failed parking attempts I had. My dad was explaining something about how to park while I was trying to manoeuver the van to the best of my ability but I catch no ball still. :(

Hehe yeah I think all dads behave the same way when it comes to trying to teach their kids how to drive.

So yeah so it's like half of my limbs ache while the other half's fine. Hahaha totally ridiculous.

I drove I drove!!! I drove today!!! Heh heh. My first drive after I passed my driving test more than a year ago. Hahaha. Needless to say I was extremely rusty. I drove my uncle's van from Teban Gardens to Hougang then to Sengkang! :) :) I finally managed to drive beyond the boundaries of AMK!!! LOL. But my parking sucks. Haha I can't park without poles!

Anyway I was kind of nervous, coz first official drive on the roads and on the expressway mah. IMO driving on the expressway is easier (at least with a manual car), because I just put it on the highest gear and then I don't have to bother about the clutch and gear knob anymore. On the roads, there are traffic lights, pedestrians and too many turns. And I forgot many things, like brake first or clutch or clutch then brake? And how to move off from a slope? I was doing turns without slowing down -___-!!! and some turns were too wide. And the usual stuff like fumbling with the gear knob and I even forgot to lift the handbrake before I moved off. Hahaha. Plus the signal thing in my uncle's van was on the left instead of the right, so I wasn't very used to activating the signal. And I was driving at night! The last time I drove at night I almost banged into a taxi so yeah, it's a good thing I delivered everyone home in one piece. Hahaha.

I'm glad the two boring-est days of CNY is over. Today I managed to waste around 1 hour trying to practice my parking and circling around Teban Gardens. :) I hardly get pesky relatives who ask too many questions but it's just ultra boring to go visiting coz we either vegetate or we stuff ourselves silly. I can think of better ways to spend my time... But it's a good harvest this year! :D

And I just finished watching Lovers in Paris... like finally. After lots of missing subs, bad quality videos and missing episodes. My rating: 3/5. Maybe I'd appreciate it more if I didn't watch it over such a long stretch. I think Park Shin Yang's quite a good actor and there are some cute moments, but I took a while to understand the much-debated ending. The ending is weird.

Did I mention that I feel cheated of my mid-term break?! Grrrrrr...

I love steamboat! *burp*

And I thought this video was too funny not to share LOL.

Hehe this video is for all cellists/double bassists... I can totally identify with what the guy in the video said!!! I even dozed off once while playing those 8 notes... (those were the days when sleep was scarce... and 8 notes can only sound so interesting after maybe 4 bars) and amazingly I didn't go out of tune. LOL :) Your hand just goes on auto-pilot after a while. Haha.

And yes we also counted how many times we gotta repeat them coz there really wasn't nothing to do. Hahaha. And we'd get lost halfway through because it's boring reading the score and I'd just stone there and repeat repeat repeat GDBF#GDGA till the conductor's baton starts slowing down and then we'll know - Oh! it's time for us to end. Hurhurhurhurhurhur. Oh man how I miss those days of playing. :)

If public transportation had "八字" then I would think that our "八字" clashed today.

On the way to school I missed the LRT, the train, and the bus took eons to come...
On the way back we were all evacuated from the train at Dhoby Ghaut... turned out that the train was faulty. The next train was super packed and I had to give it a miss and wait for the next one. The LRT was super packed and I had to wait for the next one too. Everything's super packed. Squashing with people during peak hours - Blearghhhhhhh.

Luckily I was feeling remarkably amicable today. Hurhurhur. So I just waited patiently. If I were rushing to work I'd probably have steam coming out from my ears. Hahaha. I have this vision of my head being a kettle with steam gushing out. LOL.

I guess it was a good thing that we got evacuated halfway through the train ride. Coz the stranger sitting next to me kept nodding off and he kept leaning towards my side. It's never pleasant to have a stranger invade your space and have a violently swinging head threatening to land on your shoulder. But I forgive you stranger, because I have done the same exact thing to many other strangers and strangerettes. Hahahahaha. :D So I understand that really deprived -of-sleep feeling. Back when during the days when sleep was a scarcity and if I couldn't get a window seat, my head would be doing it's own swinging act too. Hahaha.

I have lots of embarassing fascinating anecdotes about me dozing off on buses/trains. It's good for developing thick skin. Hahahaha.

Oh! And I saw this lady with a big bouquet of flowers on the train. I think there were probably 99 roses in that bouquet. Or some astronomical number. The guy who gave her that bouquet must have really deep pockets man. Or maybe the prices of roses are damn cheap now so that's why he can afford so many? I know! He probably didn't do anything for V-day and so the girlfriend got angry. So he has to make it up today. Hahaha.

Well as an afterthought after reading the V-day posts of my fellow single friends, fret not, your turns will come one day. In any case, Royalties, we have a smashing great day to look forward to next week!!! FOOD AH FOOD! :)

Anyhow, my targeted interviewee's too busy and so I have no choice but to divert my target to my friend's friend, but she came back with questions like "Why me?" and "What is the target audience of your online newspaper?" and I don't know how to answer her. I couldn't possibly say "Because I'm desperate and I have no one else to interview! And the target audience? My lecturer who is gonna grade us for this module."

Got a feeling that's she's gonna be a tough one to interview... aiksssssssssss.

Happy Valentine's Day folks!

This year is special because it's the first time in 5 years that I'm not out somewhere gallivanting with my friends! Oh well. It's a sooner or later thing right? Sigh poor us, got demoted to minority status liao... hahahaha...

And my White Paper assignment was on Valentine's Day Blues lor... haha so singles, do you feel ostracized and sad and lonely and "abnormal"? And couples, do you feel cheated because everything's so pricey? Do guys spend hundreds of dollars on roses? Do you think V-day is commercialized and hyped up?

So how did I spend this day? Hmmm I didn't get any V-day vibes at all, probably coz I was stuck in a forum for most of the day. It was a panel discussion and since I have a meeting story to write, might as well go for it and get it over and done with. I thought the panel discussion was quite interesting for the most part actually. All the industry people giving us insights. Heh heh. And there was a great buffet lunch!!! :) It's the mingling that I have a problem with. I felt a little intimidated by all the bigshots. And garh, did I mention that I hate making small talk? Yeah I think I did. That's why I'm starting to think maybe journalism is not my cup of tea. Nor is corporate communications/PR/schmoozing. Or until the day I break out of my shell and start being all proactive and master the act of asking questions and interviewing strangers, journalism and PR will not be my cup of tea.

But we shall see.

Anyhow, Channel 5's gonna show the All-Stars TAR!!! Woots!!! :)

I was a bit lost while watching the last episode of War and Beauty. Maybe it's coz I missed the first 15 mins but I felt a bit "Harh?!?!?!" when it ended. Erm. So what's up with the Empress and 如妃? Why didn't the Empress get some kind of a more exciting retribution instead of just feeling faint?

And I should not be trying to dissect the finer plots of TV shows now. Mid-term tomorrow, mid-term!!!

I'm quite glad for that phone conversation today. Because it made me feel happy knowing that I have a friend who still thinks about me every now and then, who thinks that I'm important enough to bother about, and who values me as much as I value her. And how long has it been since I've had a phone call anyway? Phone calls are so rare now. I remember talking on the phone practically everyday in secondary school, but that kind of died off in JC. Maybe we now live in an age where people like hiding behind the comfort of e-mails and SMSes. I know I am one of those kind of people. Hah.

I now have a lot of thoughts cruising through my head, but I am losing the ability to put them into coherent sentences. That's awful. Maybe they'll explode in my head or something.

Words don't come easily to me anymore unlike in the past. It's especially hard when I'm trying to self-censor and be selective about the words I use. Maybe you grow out of the verbal lashing once you get past that angst-ridden stage. I dunno. I think I was somewhat more eloquent when I was still pondering the essence of life or some cheem thing to that effect.

(Or should I say, I was more unrestrained. Hurhur.)

Just read on Soompi that Jung Da Bin committed suicide. If you watched Attic Cat or My Sister-in-law is 19 you'd know who she is. First U;nee and now her. And also Xu Weilun. Sigh.

RIP.

Yay! I'm done with my WP after many half-hearted attempts to complete it. Looks like I'll be back in school tomorrow just to hand up my assignment. Sounds a little ridiculous -- why not just go back on Monday to hand it up then? But then it wouldn't justify me slogging to finish it up now and I can spend Monday trying to mug for Tuesday's midterm. Ahahaha.

I hate it when my mom assumes that I'm "free" just because I am not sitting at the table staring at a book. Hello, just because I am in front of the computer doesn't mean that I am slacking or surfing the net for useless stuff, alright?! Just because I spend a lot of time YouTubing doesn't mean that all I do is YouTubing! Just because I don't make a concious effort to show the whole world that I am studying means I'm super free okay?!

My little sis told my mom that I am doing homework and she didn't believe... "Are you sure she is doing her homework?" the mother asked disbelivingly. She had to come into the room and stare at the monitor to verfiy that yes, indeed I am staring at a Word document. WHAT, IS IT VERY HARD TO BELIEVE THAT I HAVE ASSIGNMENTS TO DO ALSO?! *snort*

Sian lah now I have to go work because "反正你很空闲嘛..."
*snort*

And my poor Hamster hasn't had her cage cleaned yet.

This sucks. I wished I never set foot on that weighing machine -- being deluded for maybe the next ten years or so would have been a much preferred option. But curiosity killed the cat, and it killed me too. That beastly fluctuating needle keeps haunting my mind.

And a quick check with my iBanking account shows that I have been spending an average of $10 a day! Shoots, that is way too much money squandered. I cannot afford to spend $10 a day. I need to curb my spending. No bubble tea (arrgghh I love bubble tea!), no snacks, no extravagances, no going out, no KTV, no shopping, no nothing.

As I was lamenting to my sister a while ago -- I am broke, I am on the verge of being overweight, pimples are popping up all over my face, I have an undone assignment (that White Paper which I was supposed to finish last night)...
Sigh I feel so sad. :(

This is so horrible. It's 2:33am and I have not started on my White Paper assignment! Bah!

The fact that the actual due date is on Monday is further impeding my motivation to start writing it. I want to hand it up tomorrow coz my tut's cancelled on Monday. But what am I doing now?! I am cooking maggi mee and eating maggi mee, that's what I'm doing. Well done.

Wah so sian. Not only will I have to churn out some 5-6 pages of stuff pronto, I will also grow fat.
If only a White Paper is just what its name suggests - just a white piece of paper! :(

The new 9pm show on Channel 8 is damn funny! Hahaha. The plot is so ridiculously corny but it's so corny that it's funny. I was like :D :D :D for the whole episode LOL. It's a rather exaggerated show with an unbelievable plot but well that's what makes it so hilarious. Hahaha.

I resorted to putting salt on my ulcers since the wonderful black liquid (I don't know what that is, I just know that it's quite effective on ulcers) ran out. Haha talk about rubbing salt into my wound. Hurts a little but it's still better than that crater-sized ulcer I had last July... that was agony! From my ulcer-filled experience, Bonjela and Oral Aid are not very effective and gargling with salt water is not effective either -- all you get is a salty oral cavity and that's not exactly very pleasant.

The best is that wonderful black liquid. I shall see if putting salt works just as well. There's this ulcer near my emerging wisdom tooth and I wonder if the ulcer is due to my emerging wisdom tooth. I wanna pluck it out but I think it's not big enough to pluck yet.

I hate ulcers! Why do I keep getting them... When it's all good they don't appear for a few weeks or maybe even a few months, but then when they appear they come in twos and threes... irritating. And the underside of my tongue seems especially prone to those tiny tiny ulcers. BOO.

Last night I sat through a VERY LAGGY episode 9 of Lovers in Paris. It was very annoying to watch because the voice and the motions weren't in sync. I wonder why I subject myself to this kind of useless self-entertainment sometimes.

And I have to write a profile AGAIN. Sharks. :(
Thinking about it makes me irritated.

Should I go for the NUS career fair then? Must dress formally leh, bahhh.

But I thought the clip was rather amusing. And I had a lot of thoughts after watching it but I am facing a word-block. :x

I had to pick up my little sis from school today and so we went to Rivervale Mall for a while coz I wanted to drop off my cheque.

So this sales lady comes over and asks me whether I'm interested in some educational software or whatever. Wasn't paying much attention, and I shook my head.

Guess what she said next.

"小姐, 你的孩子几岁了?"

Excuez moi. ARE YOU SAYING THAT I LOOK LIKE THE MOTHER OF A 9-YEAR-OLD KID?!?!?!

Wahlao eh.

This is worse than being called auntie by a small child okay! I felt so insulted! Grrrrr!!!

我没有孩子 okay!!!! 我还年轻!!!!! *晕*

Looks like being with my little sis only serves to accentuate my "oldness". GARH!
