Le Adventures of Grimace Kitty

Grimace Kitty strikes back! *thunderclap*
I think this photo is cool! Got the effect please. Haha. Although I admit the focus on Grimace Kitty could have been sharper. #noobphotography

Why is Grimace Kitty so cute?!

So I attempted my second 10km run last night (does not include the time I chionged through the 11km MacRitchie trail).

It was a warm and balmy night. Whoever said it's cooler to run at night is lying! I was already feeling beads of perspiration forming even before I started. I attribute it to the human crush. There were just way too many people who think that running 10km on a Saturday night is a fun thing to do.

That's my bib number, my auntie asked me for it so that she can buy 4D #truestory
And Grimace Kitty is there for the cuteness factor :p

10km runners. The half and full marathoners start 2hrs after our flag-off.

I can haz a glowstick to illuminate myself!

After walking for about a good 10mins after flag off, I finally see the start point

True account of my mental capacities during the run:

Start: The whole world is chionging past me, so gung-ho now, YOU WILL REGRET LATER!
2km: SEE YOU PEOPLE WALKING! Muhahahaha. *possibilites of doing a half marathon flash by*
5km: Not bad I still feel pretty good and going at a good pace (8min/km)
5km - 7km: People who want to walk should move to the left!!! Stop obstructing the entire path, which is already narrow enough.
Reached a narrow bridge: WAHLAO why you make thousands of people cross one tiny bridge! Bad route planning.
Had to run through a dark park: WHY YOU MAKE thousands of people run through a park that has barely any lights and the path is so narrow!!!
7.5km: Wah starting to feel the impact on my knees.
8km: Starting to feel a blister on my little toe! Damn.
9km: This has been a very smooth jog and I don't feel exhausted!
End: Crossed the line at 00:00!

I finished in 1h 18mins and that's an improvement over my last 10km run! I clocked 1h 32 mins then, but that was 4 years ago and when I was at the peak of fatness.

But after this run I *think* I can challenge myself to complete a 21km half-marathon. Maybe not in the immediate future, but definitely in the distant future! Maybe for this year's Great Eastern or next year's Sundown?

Not too cui I hope

And because I went alone and had no one to take photos of me looking victorious and all that hurhurhur, I thought I'd go and queue for the photobooth so that I can have some kind of momento.
Bad choice. The queue was frigging slow and standing for another 1.5hrs after running + feeling sticky is not something I would encourage you to do. -__-

Had no creative poses and ended up looking like a spastic wood of block

I beat the sunrise! If I didn't beat the sunrise then I think it would have been quite sad. And extremely pathetic.

My next run is just one week after Mount KK, going for another 10km. Am I over-estimating myself or too foolishly optimistic? Hahahaha.

Ending off with a photo of the family of Grimaces :) Grimace Kitty overkill hurhurhur.

It was Saint's birthday last Sunday and as per tradition, the Royalties met for a hearty dim sum lunch at Yan Ting!

Sadly, this will probably be the last REHK outing that we will have for the next two years... :(

Yan Ting is at the atas St. Regis Hotel and yes, the dim sum is rather pricey. BUT! It is one of the best dim sum places ever!!!  *two thumbs up*
How good is the dim sum at Yan Ting? Let me show you the ways...

Fantabulous 老黄瓜汤! 够浓,够入味! *thumbs up*

Of worthy mention - the egg tarts! They were soft and flaky and melt-in-your-mouth. The dim sum staples of har gau and siew mai were fantastic too, I think they have the best har gaus I've ever eaten. The skin is not too thick. Yan Ting has sure got their basics right.

Oh yes and there was also a bowl of porridge that I forgot to take a picture of haha.

I'm not a fan of salted egg custard buns but I recall this being decent

The only disappointment I would say, is this rather dubious jelly that had a very distinct garlic taste :x
The jelly was supposed to be some passion fruit jelly so I'm not sure whether they poured garlic juice into it by accident or what. Ignore oil stains on right hahaha.

Some ice blended pink guava juice at TCC. Ignore elbow on top.

My photo compositions are quite horrible LOL. All the photos I took that day of the food were all out of focus. Please ignore errant piece of tissue in background.

Errant piece of tissue 阴魂不散!

 Happy birthday Saint! 永远青春美丽!Haha :D

A mere +/-7 weeks till Saint leaves boohoo! :(

Out of point #1: I'm waiting to receive a video of me doing the salsa, will post it up once I get it so that you can judge my horrible dancing. LOL!

Out of point #2: Hello! We can windsurf after a 3-hour lesson! Haha.

Out of point #3: I've got my Grimace x Hello Kitty!!! Everybody thinks I'm a Kitty fan and I have to explain for the 3742384th time that I am only buying this because of GRIMACE.

I bought a new camera at the IT Fair a couple of weeks back and I've been trying to figure out how to use it well.

Was originally gunning for an Olympus E-P3 but it was selling for close to $1,300! :O

My other option was the E-PL3, but the only fancy thing about it was that it had a flip screen. So I settled for the Olympus E-PM1 instead. Smaller, lighter, and half the price of the E-P3!

I must say that the Olympus is not exactly very user friendly or intuitive. Took me a while to figure out the bells and whistles. There is a dial button and you're supposed to turn the wheel to playback photos, instead of using the left/right buttons. And I don't like the fact that it has no auto-rotate feature. :(

But my intent of getting a mirrorless camera was to try and learn to take better quality photos, without the bulk of a DSLR. And this means I gotta learn about aperture, shutter speed, and all that gobbledygook.

For someone who is used to a point-and-shoot camera, now I have to fix the camera lenses on, bring along an external flash and a huge casing wherever I go. It's not exactly very convenient. And I'm realizing that this is going to be a rather costly hobby if I were to be serious about taking nice photos, because the lenses don't come cheap. :(

Here are some photos that I took while trying to test out my camera. My test subject is my favourite little purple thing, Grimace! :)

Trying to play around with the depth of field. It's not that obvious but the top one is supposed to have a sharp background, blurry foreground and vice versa for the second photo.

Omo, just watched fancams of SHINee arriving at Changi Airport. SUPER a lot of fans there screaming. If I went I would have felt so old! A 24 year old screaming for 17/18 year old boys. Bleargh.

I was clearing leave today and was at home. What did I do?

I gave my Grimaces a bath! On the left, the counterfeit Grimace, on the right, the authentic one. :)

Poor Grimace looking weirdly out of shape after having the water squeezed out of him

Enjoying a sun tan!

Damn old school camera. Big and bulky. Can sell to the museum.

And look! What's this?

It's a cute bao!! :)

Crap man I don't know what I did to my handphone, I happily updated some software thing without realizing that the phone would restore to its default factory state! Now EVERYTHING is gone! EVERYTHING! SMSes, my calendar schedule, all gone! My contact list is all screwed up and the best thing is I didn't back up so I might have lost some newly acquired numbers. RAWRRRRRR!!! /angry

More random stuff

Gillian made me a huge something and I have no space to keep it. Hahaha.

Cute heart! (and the hand's my sister's)

And I found a use for this heart... Let Grimace sit on it!

Now snoozing on it

My two Grimaces!
That's the fake Grimace occupying authentic Grimace's old place

And Hamster drinking water! Hehe so cute.

I've got a video somewhere of Hamster running around...
