My little sister got whacked by my mother for no rhyme or reason. Ok, maybe for a reason, but I hardly consider it serious enough to deserve the smacking. Would you smack your kid HARD and start yelling at her just because she has not gone to bed even though it's way past her bedtime? Now this is the sort of authoritative parenting one should avoid. Tiger mothers? Tough love? You will end up producing a child like specimen: ME and I think that's hardly desirable because there are lots of unflattering traits of mine that I think are a direct result of this so-called tough love. Sometimes I don't even like how ME turned out. And if I always note these bits of parenting no-nos in the unfortunate event that I have kids.
Maybe my aversion towards having kids is a manifestation of such. Because I do not want to raise another similar human being or see a projection of myself in mini-ME.
Well, my little sister's personality is such that she WILL rebuke, loudly and rudely. I will not be surprised if she turns out to be rebellious, full of angst and at odds with the world. I was unfortunately not that rebellious sort.
Sometimes I wish I could just shut my mother up because I am sick of her LISTEN TO ME I AM ALWAYS RIGHT YOU HAVE NO SAY draconian personality. But oh whatever, when you turn into an adult, you get mellow, you let things slide. Still, don't we all hope for a little independence sometimes? Till I turn 35 and get my own house...
Half of July has passed by and I am now reluctantly back in Singapore, trying to get back into the swing of things at work and wishing that I had shopped and bought more stuff in the US!
Going to Bintan for a short weekend getaway tomorrow. After Bintan I suppose my passport will not be seeing the light of day for many many many many many months. Till my malnourished bank account recovers to be fat and healthy.
I have about 7GB worth of photos (!!!) which I suppose I will slowly and painstakingly filter and upload onto Facebook. Eventually. I will also try to blog about my trip if I don't get too lazy. But it has been a good break. At times I felt that it was too long but when it was time to come back, I didn't really want to come back. I miss San Francisco's weather! Okay maybe not the dryness. Just the coolness.
LA was hot! Pretty much like Singapore. The Victoria's Secret outlet in San Diego was kinda disappointing. There were hardly any nice bras in my size. :( Out of the 3 cities I visited, I think I like SF the best! Well since I'm waiting for my How I Met Your Mother videos to convert (yes, at the unearthly hour of 4.30am), here are some photos of my trip to share:

Visiting wineries and wine tasting at Napa Valley

The iconic Golden Gate Bridge (we spent one hour walking across it)

The prison on Alcatraz island

Glacier Point at Yosemite National Park

This river was literally right outside our room!

We were standing there and ogling at their nice firm asses hahahahaha :p (This was in Vegas, but of course!)

The Grand Canyon

Super scenic drive along the coast from LA back to SF
OK I have too many photos... it's taking me too long to even look through them! o.O
And speaking of How I Met Your Mother... I caught a few episodes in LA and watched almost the entire of Season 6 on the flight back and found it quite funny! And the best part is that each episode is only around 20 mins. Perfect! :)
Gasp 5.30am now (I spent one hour looking at my photos and I only finished looking at SF and Yosemite photos!!!!!!) and I need to catch an early morning ferry to Bintan tomorrow! ROAR! Ok tootles~

Greetings from Las Vegas, the city of sin!
I'm now halfway through the longest trip I've ever taken, and it is really starting to feel pretty long to me! We've probably driven over 400 miles, from San Francisco to Yosemite, and then through Death Valley and now we're in Vegas. Tomorrow we depart for the Grand Canyon!
My poor skin is very cui now, because it's sooooooo dry here! I've never seen my legs look so dry and scaly, and my hands look like an old woman's. The skin around my mouth gets dry very frequently too. Was actually not prepared for the cold SF weather, and it was sooooooo cold when the wind blew! And then we came to Vegas, where the sun was so ridiculously scorching hot. The mercury is known to hit up to 40 degrees. Bleah. I keep sneezing and I've been chugging down vitamin C, hopefully my body can tahan the weather extremes.
Did A LOT A LOT of shopping. Started off with about US$2.4k+, and now I'm down to US$200+. All in 9 days. Whoop dee doo! Seriously don'r know how I'm going to survive LA. I have another 7 more days or so to go. That's an average of... 30 bucks a day!
But seriously. The shopping. Oh my! We made 3 trips to the Las Vegas outlets. Each time I went to Coach I bought something. On top of that I spent like 400 bucks in a day on shopping in San Fran. My total loot so far, not including stuff that I bought for family:
2 bags
3 wristlets
4 pairs of shoes
5 bras
Many many undies
1 watch (which I think I accidentally scratched! SAD)
4 pairs of flip flops
3 pairs of shorts
3 pairs of jeans
1 pair of sunglasses
Some tops and other stuff that I can't remember coz I left them in San Fran!
Still on the lookout for a wallet!
Oh, I lost 100 bucks at the casino last night haha :p else I could have been another 100 bucks richer. Caught 3 shows during my stay here in Vegas, including one Cirque du Soleil one called Kà. The acrobatics were amazing, but some parts were rather boring. I fell asleep 5 mins into the show hahahahaha.
Oh yes I went whitewater rafting in Yosemite and it was one of the most AWESOME experience I've ever had!!! Super duper cool!!! The water was bloody cold but very shiok! :)
Other than the weather and the long drives (got to test my driving skills a bit), the trip's been pretty good so far, other than the fact that I'm a very big fifth wheel haha since I'm with 2 couples. Would have been more fun going with crazy friends I think.
Early morning wake up call for the drive tomorrow, need to sleep. 4.43am here and 7pm (+8GMT), I think no matter where I go I just end up sleeping late. LOL.
