I received a hamster for my birthday! Yes a freaking hamster!!!
My crazy friends got me a hamster as a present!!!
I mean of all the things to give... why a hamster?!?!?!
I am not a furry-animal person! I am not an animal person! I am most certainly not a pet person! I can't take care of pets! I am a commitment-phobe! *Si Yi goes slightly hysterical*
Nobody in my family is a pet person too... my mom doesn't even dare to hold the hamster. I think she is more averse to furry animals than I am.
Plus having a pet is a freaking huge responsibility. It's a living thing! It's not some inanimate object that I can choose to place in a display cupboard. It's like deciding to have a baby! Do I have the time and ability to look after a hamster?! And I have to support a hamster on my meagre pay! I am not prepared at all! Plus I've always believed that if you don't have the means, the time, or the patience to get a pet, then don't! It's unfair to the pet if you just get one "for fun". You've got to be really committed to get a pet!
I was quite shocked when I saw it. Was like...
................................... Shit.
YOU MEAN YOU ALL GOT ME A HAMSTER?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?! (times ten thousand exclaimation marks)
Have I shown any inclination towards furry cute animals?! Have I expressed any desire to have a pet of my own?! NO!!! Neopets, Tamagochi and Igglebins are the closest things I would get for a pet-substitue. But not a real, running, nibbling hamster!
Of all the presents that I've ever gotten, this takes the cake man. Not in a good way -- no offence -- but a hamster! A hamster! I am now burdened with the task of looking after a hamster!!! And I am absolutely clueless about how to take care of one!!! *Si Yi becomes hysterical again*
And my mom had a rather negative reaction when I brought the hamster home too... She was like "Why did your friends get you a hamster?! Aiyoh, you never tell them that we don't rear pets at home? Why they waste money like that?" And she suggested that we let our 6th floor neighbour have the hamster.
Okay lah, but on the plus side, the hamster is really very cute. It's a dwarf hamster, and luckily there's only one. If I had a couple of mating hamsters, very soon there will be lots of little hamsters running around and I will be pulling my hair out.
And then we all crowded around the cage, looking at the hamster nibble. Then I filled its cage with water, and we masking-taped certain parts of the cage coz it looked big enough for the hamster to slip through. I don't want to wake up and realize that the hamster is missing. -____-"
This probably needs some time to sink in. I am now a hamster owner. I am responsible for its tiny life!
ARRRGGGHHH! I don't even feed the freaking fishes in the pond! *panic panic*
I think I shall name my hamster Hamster. Hamster the hamster. Yeah very creative I know. It shall be Hamster till I can think of a nicer name. And since I don't know what is Hamster's gender, I shall randomly assign a gender to it. It shall be a female hamster. Hahahahahaha.
Haha, I discovered something that Hamster and I have in common! Hamster is a nocturnal hamster! It's already 2am and Hamster is not asleep. It is running on its hamster wheel!
But anyway, do not ever give me living things as presents again.

Other than the hamster saga, the day went pretty well. I was horribly late as usual because I forgot to bring my KTV vouchers out and I only remembered when the LRT reached Sengkang. So I made a U-turn back home to get it. But in the end Party World was fully booked till 6pm (!!!) so we went to Kbox instead. Then we went to Suntec for dinner at Country Manna. Besides the hamster, the Royalties also got me a bag, a pen with a rude hand sign, and a Big Sweep ticket. LOL. Top prize $2 million leh! Eh, if I win I can buy my dream car! Which is an Orange Volkswagen Beetle. :) :) :)

Hahaha, my sis just told me the funniest thing. My little sister has a plan to surprise me for my birthday by getting my sis to act as a witch, my dad to act as a ghost, my mom to be a narrator and herself as an angel. Hahahahaha. Kids say the silliest and funniest things sometimes. :) :) :)
Halloween coming eh!

My blog is worth $6,209.94.
How much is your blog worth?
I'm a Platinum Grey Volkswagen Beetle!

Silent and blunt, you're often as unnoticed as your Platinum Grey Beetle. Odds are that your journal is the only window people have to your personality. But like the Beetle you drive, all you have to do is hock your horn a little and attention will stay you for a while.
What kind of Volkswagen New Beetle are you?
Damn, I haven't compiled my part of the project yet. Been mapling every spare moment I have. I hope my group members won't kill me. :(
