So I completed my Level 2 Korean class last Saturday *박수~* and our 선생님 (teacher) decided to have a cooking class in place of our last lesson.

My group volunteered? had no choice? randomly chose? to make kimbap (김밥). It's rice rolled with laver (LAVER! thinks of cute Japanese waiter~) and various random ingredients. Basically it's a Korean version of sushi. Ah there. I see a thought bubble forming at the tip of your heads. Like this:

We were too busy making noise, rolling and cutting during class, so I don't have any pictures of the process. But I dabao-ed a roll of kimbap (kimbap roll?) back home and here it is! All in its mouth-watering glory!

우리가 김밥을 만들어요~ 너무 맛있었어요!

*cricket sounds*

Yeah that roll of kimbap was probably already 2/3 down our stomachs after I remembered to take a picture. But it was good! My first roll of kimbap ever! Erm, the one that ungraciously spilt open was due to the fact that there was a hole in the seaweed. So when I cut it, it ungraciously spilt open. And by right kimbap should be colourful! as 선생님 chided when we made boring monotone kimbap. There should be reds! greens! yellows! colour! But as you can see, my first kimbap consists of mostly orange/yellow stuff. It's egg, pickled radish and carrot I think.

Not too bad for a first attempt! And it's pretty simple to make too. Maybe I should attempt to cook dinner over the weekend since I predict we're all gonna be surviving on food court food for 2 weeks. Kinda inspired by our 10-course cookout session the other time.

Oh and other groups also made other Korean dishes like bibimbap, kimchi pancake, Japchae, ddokbokki (spicy rice cake). 너무 맛있었어요! (It was delicious~)

My mother happily went off to Europe on a 2-week long trip, leaving behind my little sister who kept crying on the day she left. Annoyingly that means I suddenly have to take care of her, whatever that means. 싫어! I think it's high time for my little sister to learn how to be independent. Anyway I think she will soon reach the age when she will stop sticking to my mother and start sticking to her friends.

An MIA mother also means I have to do the laundry. And iron the whole world's clothes. I haven't done the ironing part yet (that's what weekends are for - to catch up on ironing - oh bemoan my sad un-happening life) but it's only Day 2 of clothes washing and I am bloody sian of it!!! Washing rinsing dumping into machine hanging it up taking it down UGH! Another 13 or more days of clothes washing!!! :(

I realized that I don't think I can ever set up a family. I am perfectly happy to wash my own clothes but I think I will be very unhappy washing other people's. Just as well, since I have no maternal instinct and don't like kids very much. Everybody, please appreciate your mother. Especially if she does the laundry.

Okay stop complaining it's just washing a few measly pieces of cloth right?

Hah I think I will probably start complaining about the ironing when the weekend comes. :x

I submitted my medical claim last November and I only got my reimbursement at the end of February. SLOW!

*hangs head*
And I call myself a Shinhwa fan. Their 12th anniversary slipped by quietly and unnoticed while I was busy with my un-happening life. I was really planning to wear ORANGE on 24 March but I swear I completely forgot!!! :( I is upset that I have become a negligent and bochap fan. :( Is this what they call out of sight, out of mind? NO! I must reignite the passionate flames in my heart that I have for them! *manic gleam*

On a completely unrelated note, my thighs feel like I've subjected them to some horrible torture. Which isn't all that far from the truth. I did a lot of stretchy pull-y stuff but whatever it is, the muscles near my knees are aching. This is strange because I never knew I had muscles near my knees. I feel like my legs are turning into one big blue-black. Oh muscles of the knee, rejoice! For you are now activated after lying dormant!

Clearing my last day of leave for the FY tomorrow!

These are the dates to remember:

30 Oct 2010: Eric gets out of the army
7 Dec 2010: Dongwan gets out of the army

Still quite some way to go.

And so there goes my 4-day long weekend... It went by in a flash. As expected. Good times never last long.

Anyway I'm super in love with another make-believe couple on We Got Married. Yonghwa + Seohyun!
If I were 19 years old again like Seohyun, I wouldn't mind having Yonghwa as my first love. HAHAHA.

I am staring pensively out of the window. Just as I decide to go, it starts pouring.
Swimming pool, we are not fated to meet today.

I completed my first Korean drama for 2010 - was busy watching "You're Beautiful" for the past week. It's a really cute and funny drama with an awesome OST. (Korean drama soundtracks are always awesome.) Initially I couldn't stand the girl acting stupid and dense (seriously - why is it that bumbling clumsy girls are always the ones who get like a ton of boys falling head over heels for them - it just gives false hopes to the rest of us out there) but the guys are chaarrrrrrrmmmmingg.... ♥

And this is unprecedented - usually I don't give two hoots about the 2nd male lead, the one who is ever so nice and gentle, always there for the girl but will never end up with her - but I am all a flutter over the guy who plays Kang Shinwoo in the show. ♥♥♥ I have something new to obsess over now HAHAHA.

The Hong sisters do not disappoint - this drama is as quirky, funny, touching and romantic as the other Hong sisters dramas (My Girl, Fantasy Couple, Sassy Girl Choon Hyang). The pacing is just nice too - at 16 episodes, it doesn't fall into that draggy Korean drama trap that makes me feel like screaming at the leads to GET A MOVE ON!

Okay shall try and sleep early and mull over job opportunities tomorrow.

Our piano at home is at least 16 or 17 years old now. It has taken me through years of piano exams and hours and hours of practicing. Actually I can't remember when I started learning, but I remember we used to have a keyboard in our old house before the piano.

Anyway digressing. The point is it has turned into some sort of a white elephant now. After 1 year or so (or maybe 2 years?) of not touching it, I finally opened it up and was informed by my little sister that my high F# key is spoilt! ㅠ___ㅠ It gets stuck whenever I hit the F# and I have to pluck it out if I have to play F# repeatedly. The notes around middle C also give off a strange twang. My piano is disintegrating! :(

Oh, and I can't read notes that are above or below 3 ledger lines anymore. :(

Happiness! Is when the next day is a work day and yet you can choose not to sleep early and spend the night watching a cute Korean drama. And knowing that you can still get 8 hours of sleep!

I don't really like to wear black. I haven't worn black in such a long time that I thought I looked rather odd today. Almost couldn't recognize myself in the mirror with a black t-shirt. Colourful tops are still nicer.

I'm walking down memory lane in 2003!

It's really amusing to read about my 17-year-old self and practically all I wrote about was mugging for common tests and A Levels. HAHA. How much life has changed since then.

The scary thing is I think I might have become much more shallow in my thoughts now than I was 7 years ago. Or am I simply too lazy to think now?

该去当兵的都去了! I honestly did not know Minwoo was going to enlist so soon but sooner is definitely better for me. But there has been really a dearth of Shinhwa news. 2PM's drama has completely overshadowed everything in the Kpop industry. (And the articles and stories get worse... fans are all hating on "6PM" right now.) Shinhwa Changjo has got to stay strong and never waver!

2012... wow I would be a 26-year-old fangirl by then!
