I've been fretting over my dire financial state and I've been thinking of ways to cough up the money for 2 up and coming events. Namely the Countdown-cum-stayover thing at Sandy's house and the Reunion Steamboat lunch at Sze Hsien's house.
How is it that two perfectly innocent events would require so much cash, you ask.
I have no idea too, but FOOD is a necessary evil, and if I could go without food (which would mean that I can save money on food!), I would.
They're cooking spaghetti and pizza (again) at Sandy's house. There, there. Expenses. It'll cost about $10 per person and from past experience, I think they'll over-cater and so we end up with too much food but too little stomachs and mouths and needless to say, unnecessary money spent. I'm contemplating whether I should bring a packet of maggi mee and borrow her gas stove for 5 mins to fill my stomach for dinner.
See? Simple. Expense-free. But of course I'll be labelled a cheapo but who cares? I've already got a bracelet that says "CHEAPO" for all to see.
But I can't run away from the steamboat lunch. And I HAVE to contribute something. But I don't have enough money! So, I stared around my messy table and my eyes fell on The Little Pouch.
What's inside this Little Pouch, you wonder.
There's foreign currency in it.
A flash of brilliance!
I had some Thai Baht left over from my Sec 4 Thailand field trip, and if my memory doesn't fail me, I think after changing Thai currency back to Singapore dollar, I would have enough money to tide me over this New Year.
黑暗的隧道突然出现了一道光芒!
人间有希望了!
I'm sorry that you have to endure moans and complaints about me being broke for the past month. But sadly, as much as I would like to deny it, I AM broke. As of now, I have a grand total of $0.40 to my name.
Desperate times calls for desperate measures I say.
Now the only problem would be to find a foreign exchange counter with a good exchange rate so that I can milk all that my Thai baht's worth. Bwhahaha.
Anyone went Thailand recently? Care to tell me what's the exchange rate?
I think, Love Actually is, to quote Gillian, "over-rated". After hearing all the rave reviews I was expecting more! Plus I was somewhat confused because all the British guys started to look all the same to me after a while. But it was a nice film. If you dig heartwarming, awwww-inspiring movies. Hmmm. But the Portugese girl's quite pretty. She looks like Tina Fabulous (from The Bachelor 3)! And British humour is funny, I say.
Wanted to play some online mahjong at yahoo games, but it's late, and I gotta wake up bright and early tomorrow.
In case I don't get access to a computer, Happy New Year to all!!!
May all be happy in the coming year. :)
And yes, no time for a lengthy reflection piece of 2003, so I'll just keep the thanks in my heart.
Think my blog turns about 2 years old around this time...
Happy 2nd birthday blog!
From a silly immature girl of 16 till now... my dear blog has been swallowing all sorts of nonsense and abuse from me... the rants, the happy days, the whatever, it's quite satisfying to read back and reflect and remember.
I am going to watch Love Actually tomorrow. Finally. Yay yay yay. :)

I got rid of the phlog because it refuses to publish my newest entries.
I am contemplating getting a tagboard. Survey survey -- tagboard or comment box (which is what I'm using now)?
I would like to learn Spanish.
I was thinking about how people's preferences and likings change over time, due to character changes. For example, I used to like purple (I still do), but now I like orange too. Why? Because I am a happier person now? Orange suits my bubbly sunshine-y image? Subconciously I may not feel that I have changed much but I actually I did. And my changes in preferences reflect that. Some also say that changes in handwriting also mean that the person's character has changed.
So after talking so much nonsense, I think, yes, I have changed. From Sec 4 till now, I think I have changed quite a bit. And I think it's for the better, haha. Egoistic as always. :p

So after a day of hammering and knocking, they finally assembled the wardrobe that we bought from Ikea.
I want some new clothes too, but my mother claims that I have alot of clothes already and says that I can recycle them for New Year. :(
And last night I dreamt about my A level results again. This time, it was worse. I could vaguely picture the swine's face hovering about, looking as though he expected better results from me. And strangely, Saint was in the picture I think, though I dunno why. And everyone was getting at least 3 As. So I glanced at my result slip and I don't think I actually saw anything, but somehow I knew my results. Which were, for your interest, a D and E for Maths and Chem, not respectively, because I don't remember which was for which, and a nice big F for Econs. And GP.
Dammit I failed GP in my dream!!!!
Bad dream. Bad bad dream.
It was until the whole flurry of activity was over before I realized the seriousness of it all. I was doomed. And I will seriously be doomed if I really get such grades.
And the bad thing was that even in my dream the situation felt so real. Maybe it's because D and E grades are the norm for me during common tests. But but but! It felt so bloody real and I think it might actually happen!!!
WHY do I keep dreaming about the stupid results. Dammit. Grrrrrrrrr.
I feel disturbed.

I just submitted some applications for temp jobs on jobstreet.com. Hope some company would want to hire me. *crosses fingers*
However for some job applications I have to submit my resume if I want to apply. But I have NO idea how to go about writing my resume. Sigh sigh sigh.
How do I write my resume?! I have nothing to boast of!
Anyhow, the jazz concert today wasn't too bad. At least I got to appreciate other forms and genres of music. Thumpity thumpity thump. Music-wise, it was quite nice, all the dissonance chords and syncopation and haphazardly placed big big chords where I think even two of my hands would be insufficient to play, and the pretty glissandos, which I will break my thumb if I attempt to try and play that -- but rather boring visual-wise, because there was nothing to look at except two pianists on grand pianos thumping happily away. Unless I entertain myself by looking at the woman opposite who was using binoculars to scrutinise the pianists.
Give me a boring old orchestral concert with Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G Minor anytime.
At least I can look at the cellists and admire their competence, while comprehending fully that I'll never be able to reach such a standard.
And also irritate the people beside me by exclaiming "perfect cadence!", "dominant pedal!", "pathos short 3-note motif", "throbbing quavers by the violas" or all those rubbish that we learnt, but hardly put to use. All thanks to our beloved *cough* MEP teacher.
Raphsody in Blue by George Gershwin is my all-time favourite "Jazz" tune. I say "Jazz" in inverted commas because it isn't really jazz, but rather jazz-inspired. Hmmm. Great-grandma, you should go listen to this.
Excuse me and my nonsensical ramblings. I'm in need of cash, desperately. Money matters are troubling.

Dear Mr. Santa,
I am probably too old to be writing a letter to you, but I've always been young at heart, and you're an internationally famous figure, so I figured that you'd be getting alot of fanmail from people from all ages, so what's one more letter from a crazed 18-year-old to you?
Looking back on the past 11 plus months, I think I've been a relatively good girl; I keep quiet when I should, I study when I should, I do my homework, I do my chores, I fufil my duties with utmost care, I laugh with others, I make others laugh, I don't tell lies, I don't skip lectures, blah blah blah. So don't you think you should reward me with a little something?
Actually, I don't wish for anything extravagant. Just refer to the little list on the right that is meant for you to read, Mr. Santa.
It's been there for at least 3 months, so I think I've given you enough time to prepare.
And yes, since my house doesn't have a chimney, there are alternative routes you can take.
You can land on the roof and climb down seven storeys via the staircase, or you may wish to come up by the rubbish chute. Why come up by the lift like every plain old ordinary person?
I look forward to hearing sleigh bells ring, and oh, do say hi to Rudolph for me will you? I did resemble him sometime after my prom, when I kept honking my nose into tissue, and I most certainly must take a photo with him someday. People might even say we look like twins!
My Christmas stocking will be waiting patiently at the foot of my bed.
Yours sincerely, Scrooge Si Yi (who is penniless)

I hate beetles.
This must have been the third or fourth beetle I've vacuumed.
And the bad thing about the vacuum cleaner is that it takes too long to assemble, so I gotta be quick before the annoying thing flies around the room and hides in a corner which I can't see.
And I'm coughing my lungs out.
Must have been the cookies. Gah.
Meanwhile, Merry merry Christmas to all! :)

English lesson!
Here's a bombastic word for you to use: pulchritudinous.
According to dictionary.com, it means characterized by or having great physical beauty and appeal.
Cool huh! Now if I can figure out how to pronounce it...

Haha.
Had to shrink the pic coz it was interfering with my layout.
Speaking of which, I watched The Return of the King today. It was good. Very... wow. Awe-inspiring. Boom boom boom. And probably the grossest one of the trilogy. But personally I prefered The Two Towers and its battle scenes. Plus there was more comic relief, in the form of Gimli. But if you haven't watched it yet, go watch I say! It's worth the moolah.
Don't think I'll watch it again at a cinema though, such things should be experienced only once. Plus I don't have that much cash to spare to watch it again. But I don't mind watching the VCDs of all three parts. Hahaha. Anyone wants to lend me? :)
I'm becoming such a scrooge lately. Hahaha.
I must reject invitations for dinner, eat a late breakfast so I can save on lunch, and not watch movies (with the exception of Love Actually) or go for any other form of entertainment unless it's free. I must not buy anything unless it's of absolute importance during this agonizing period. If I have to eat out, I must eat food that is cheap yet substantial. No high-end dining that will rob you of any possible riches that you have. Anyway, food will all become waste, and there's no point in paying money for waste. No fast food too, because fast food is becoming more and more expensive. No buying drinks, bring own water bottle when out. There you have it. Si Yi's money saving tips 101.

Your dominant hues are green and blue. You're smart and you know it, and want to use your power to help people and relate to others. Even though you tend to battle with yourself, you solve other people's conflicts well. Your saturation level is very low - you have better things to do than jump headfirst into every little project. You make sure your actions are going to really accomplish something before you start because you hate wasting energy making everyone else think you're working. Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation. |
I was sick yesterday.
Yes you read it correctly! I had a temperature of 38.0 degrees Celsius, measured using the SARS thermometer that they gave us mid-year.
What a rare occasion, whoop-dee-doo. :)
Felt hot and cold at the same time since Saturday night. Silly cough came to pester me again. On Sunday, the parentals went to Ikea to shop for a new wardrobe for us and a bed for my lil' sis. So I tagged along.
There's a shuttle bus from Ikea to Sengkang! Whoop-dee-doo! But it operates only during weekends and public holidays though. And we only found out after travelling 1 hr plus on the good old SBS bus there.
But at least they cater to the Sengkang public. Thank you! Now, someone should speak to the authorities about having a shuttle service from Sengkang to Orchard...
Where was I? Oh yup. So I was sick and I went to Ikea. I was suspecting that I might have SARS (wasn't there a new case reported recently?) but I decided that it was absurd and we managed to get a new wardrobe and a new bed to squeeze into our tiny bedroom. Hah. But I pity my poor lil' sister though. She lost her windbreaker at the huge compounds of Ikea and got such a tremendous tongue-lashing from my mother. And my father always likes to add oil to fire, as usual. So, my poor little sister, aged 5, had this terrible terrible expression of guilt and unhappiness just because of a windbreaker?! Sigh. Kids nowadays.
And I can't help but wonder if my mother scolded us as ferociously when we lost stuff when we were out a decade ago. So that's how characters are moulded huh. Hope my lil' sis won't become some inferior being in future. I mean, over a stupid windbreaker! And they kept going on and on at it that even I felt bad. ME! Feeling bad for my lil' annoying sister! Haha. And my mother even tried to push the blame to me! What the (#*$@(*#^. @_@
And it was the tang yuan (glutinous rice balls) day so I got to eat lots of tang yuans. Yummy. *smack lips*
And so I measured my temperature at about 3am because I was busy writing Christmas cards, hoping to finish in time for the 5pm postman the next day. Couldn't tahan anymore, was feeling very cold and yet very hot, and I was suspecting that I was sick, so I took my temperature and tada! 38.0, the digital display read. Woke my mom up and she told me to gulp down 4 antibiotic pills and 2 fever pills.
Thank goodness for antibiotics though. I felt much better when I woke up this morning. My fever went away! Yay!
It's terrible being sick. I haven't succumbed to any illness for quite some time so I can't recognize symptoms of my body being anti-resistant to whatever germs that are wriggling about.
And I am going to watch LOTR tomorrow. Yay yay yay! :) Spending cash before I earn anything again, but ah, some things are worth spending money on.

So I've drawn up a more updated list of my financial status.
Debts
- Gillian: $50
- Mom: $100 + exceeded SMS money
- Sze Hsien: about $30 + $16
Inflow
- Aunt: $13
- Tuition: $70 after splitting with my sister
I need a job.
I applied for some IRAS temporary job online, hope I get it. I need the moolah.
I found a mug that says "Another entire day wasted online." I agree with it. Think it describes my day very aptly.

Oh yes. The chalet. Was definitely fun, although it burnt a huge hole in my already holey pocket. Sigh.
So now I'm absolutely penniless.
It was raining when we checked in, so we holed up in the room and played bridge. Then Ade Sandy Mabel me, we went cycling amidst a slight drizzle which later became a not-so-light drizzle. Was quite wet, and was avoiding puddles carefully lest my t-shirt had unsightly splatter marks. Oh! And we saw some filming thing going on, but I have no idea what show it was. Cycled from almost one end of Pasir Ris park to the other. Ah! Butt-ache.
And I fell down and scraped my knee. Hee.
Filthy, wet and stinky, we went to take a shower at the pool showering place (so that it'll be faster instead of having all of us queue for one toilet). By then, it was already 7 plus, and there was this annoying drizzle that wouldn't go away. Bah. We couldn't decide what to eat for dinner, and by the time we settled for some Jap food it was already 8 plus. Oh! And to enter the Downtown East resorts they stamped some inkless stamp on our arm which will only show under UV light. I thought it was quite cool. :)
So we embarked on our night adventure. Us silly girls kept Ade Sandy and Mabel, who wanted to sleep on the train wide awake, because we were making silly remarks and having a "keep silent for 5mins" thing going on. And the "let's stare at you all so that you can't sleep" thing. Ahahahas. So silly.
Wanted to catch Love Actually at Lido, because we thought there was a 11.45pm show, but after stopping the escalators and climbing up slowly, we realized that the ticketing booth was closed and we were told to try Cine. So. We walked down to Cine and horrors! The ticketing booth was closed too! Disappointment, disappointment. The only time that I can catch a midnight movie but alas! It didn't turn out that way. Hey, I thought Cine screened movies 24hours a day? Hmmmm.
With our plans ruined, we decided to fall back on Plan B -- which was Karaoke, of course. Angie knew of this place which opened till 3am, so we trotted there to check the place out. And I must say, Orchard at night is still quite a bustling place, but it was pretty odd to see people flocking to the MRT and us coming out of the MRT station. Hahaha. Outside the KTV, we were all pretty indecisive, probably it looked rather sleazy from outside and we're all girls, better to be safe than sorry. After all that hemming and hawing, and pissed and unhappy looks thrown here and there, we FINALLY went in and settled ourselves comfortably in the hall. But it was very very noisy. Boom boom boom and you can hear the bass and all that awful out-of-tune screeches from the rooms. Haha. And the food was such a rip-off!!! $6 for a cup of Ice-lemon tea! And it was a "compulsory" order! How can they cheat our money like that!!! -indignant- But we still had a good time. Took some time to warm up to mike, although I prefer screaming the song out instead of singing it nicely into the mike. Bwhahaha. If I screech into the mike I think we'll all go deaf. And! The others who shared the hall with us... erm, let's just say that they're a little tone-challenged. Or pitch-impaired.
Nonetheless it was quite fun. :) Karaoke is addictive. We must do it again sometime, probably when I'm not so broke.
Then it was our long long stroll to Esplanade. We were on a high; just started screeching "I love you baby, and if it's quite alright..." at 3am on Orchard road, where cabbies were camped out along the street, and an assortment of songs that we sang and modified to make it uniquely ours. :D Finally reached the waterfront after about an hour or so, and camped out there. Talked, sang somemore, and my feet stank. Haha. Irrelevant. And then, we danced the SN family dance, and tried to remember the line dances and the mass dance, which we couldn't go past the first four 8 beats. Haha. And the Primary Calistanics! (how do you spell that anyway?) Couldn't remember anything at all! Hahahaha. It was pure madness and unrestrained fun, dancing that beloved dance and making so much noise. (Think we made quite a nuisance of ourselves in the middle of the night/morning. Probably disturbed the couples who were spending quality time there.) It's a pity though, I think these dances will become obsolete soon. :(
Went back at 6am, caught one of the first few trains back to Pasir Ris. Wanted to watch the sunrise, but we didn't know where the sun was rising from. Haha. I was still very much awake, but the rest were sort of zonked out. So we went back and took a nap. Slept for about 3-4 hours I think. Woke up for lunch, tried the mee siam there. Was supposed to go help my sis check in for her chalet, but my father went, so I headed back home to collect the fried bee hoon and chicken wings for our BBQ later. We splitted up, some went Escape to play, some went bowling, others were sleeping.
The BBQ was quite successful, I guess, despite our fire going off 87412361 times. Yummy food! :D
Oh, and highlight of the night -- a mini-celebration of Mabel's bday and my very belated bday, which of course I didn't expect. :) I received a very³cute mini-Sigg bottle from them! :) *hearts* I love the Sigg bottle. :)
Played Cluedo till 3am. Haha Cluedo's fun. :)
Went about packing my stuff till 4am while the others slept. Wasn't sleepy. Besides, Saint's big leg was invading my space. -____- Hahaha.
Thursday, checked out, came home and snoozed. Hahaha.
Yep, it was lotsa fun. :)
So now I'm absolutely penniless.

I finally see the sun after a few of those gloomy, dark and rainy days.
Funny, seeing the sun reminds me of the times when I would trot back home from school. And then I remembered that today is a Monday, and it means that usually I would be having a double period GP lesson at this time. Ha ha ha.
Anyone has a SAT book to lend me?

Okay. I was lazy and just grabbed a template off Blogskins. Hahaha.
It wasn't exactly what I had in mind; my plan was to make something bright and cheery (think orange, red, yellow) and preferably Christmas-sy and match different colours that I've never used before, not dark and gloomy like this one with a depressing theme to match. But it'll suffice.
I will make another new one soon. Once I get a new image editing thingee. Bah.
Scout's honour.
Wait, I'm not a scout. Oops.
It's my life, it's now or never...
I must remember to put up the phlog one day.
I just want to live when I'm alive...
Ah. You can probably guess what I'm listening to now.
It's my life.
Time to sleep.

This is how my day went:
12:00 noon Handphone alarm rings. Silenced the alarm and went back to sleep.
1:15pm Wakes up. Glances at clock. Realizes that I'm damn late.
1:20pm Finishes washing up. Grabs clothes to change.
1:30pm Almost out of the door, but had a stomachache.
1:35pm Went to the bus stop, eating a bun along the way.
1:40pm At the bus stop, I realize that my EZ-link card has only 3 cents left, and I won't be passing by any place where I can top up my card.
1:41pm Checks whether I have enough coins.
1:43pm Bus comes. I take the risk.
2:00pm Alights and walks to another bus stop.
2:05pm Boarded the bus.
2:20pm Encountered a traffic jam. Traffic was slow moving because of the rain. Was freezing in the bus.
2:40pm Alights and waits for Sandy's father at the VJ bus stop.
2:50pm Sandy's father arrives and drives us to the bike rental place.
3:00pm We rent the bikes. Starts cycling.
4:30pm We return the bikes. Butt ache. We start to stroll slowly towards MacDonalds.
5:20pm Walked around. Bought cup noodles to eat.
6:15pm Went Gelare and watched Sandy eat ice-cream. Bad news. That time of the month.
6:45pm Waited for Sandy's father to come.
7:00pm Sandy's father fetched us to the bus stop.
7 plus Bus comes, I realize that my EZ-link card has -$0.77. Pays fare by cash. Unfortunately, I only have enough coins for one bus trip.
7:15pm Brainwave -- alights at Eunos MRT and walked all the way there to top up my card.
7:25pm Takes another bus home.
8:00pm Reached home.
I realize that my tenses are all mixed up. Ahhhh, better brush up those elementary English fundamentals if I were to be qualified enough to teach Primary 5 English.

Monday's a busy day!!!

I did it in 35 seconds.
I deserved a B-!!
Take the How Dexterous Are You? Quiz!!
Haha this is an extremely interesting game!! Try it!
I carelessly cut the tip of my index finger so it's quite difficult to type properly now. :(
The girls came over to my house to bake today. Haha. Made quite a lot of cookies and also a batch of brownies, but we cheated, because we used Betty Crocker's brownie mix. Hahaha. The butter cookies turned out not too bad, because of my mom's recipe and also partly because my mom was there to help. But because my mom was there it put a damper on things, seemed like Sandy and folks weren't too pleased because they wanted free reign to do whatever they wanted, which includes making the cookie batter by their own bare hands instead of using the mixer. *shrugs* ah well, but I would prefer quality over... total havoc in the kitchen? Hmm.
But then again, I am such an old stooge. I have slightly different ideas, probably because I grew up taking for granted that cookies are to be baked in this certain manner because I've been watching my mom bake year after year, so something different doesn't appeal to me.
We cooked spaghetti too. Used the white sauce, can't remember what it was called, and made pizza. Again, I am used to making pizza from scratch instead of using a bread (?!) base, so haha, I thought it was rather weird. But it didn't turn out too bad.
It was slightly uncomfortable being in the same kitchen with my mother and my friends, because we were talking about stuff that I usually won't talk to my mother about. Very weird, lah. Plus my mom is being over-friendly. She isn't usually like that at home. Sometimes it's good, but sometimes I wish to do things my own way, you know? And I realize today what a tough life my parents lead. They have to vacuum and mop the floor, do the dishes, do the laundry, and do goodness knows what else. Eeks. I washed a ton of dishes, cooking and baking stuff today, and I don't wish to stand at the sink ever again. Or for at least a few days. My legs are aching! I'm so unfit. Boohoo. And that's only for dishes! Ahhh!
Household chores suck.
Anyway, I realize my mother can cook quite alot of things. Am I considered lucky then? Probably not as much as Corinne's wonderful maid, but passable, and quite yummy too. Hahaha.
Think I'm going cycling tomorrow. Yay! Time to get rid of the flab.

Went to Corinne's house to watch The Pianist today. Only 4 of us were there, but it was still quite fun nevertheless. Pigged out and watched the very disturbing movie, in Xiuhui's terms. Ooh, puberty all over again; weight gain minus the growth spurt.
The Pianist is really, really very disturbing. It just saddens and disgusts me to see how those Germans can kill innocents so blatantly, without even a hinge of guilt. *shudder* How they can throw the crippled old man, wheelchair and all, off the balcony; how they can drive their cars over the lifeless, dead bodies on the road. Ew. Guns firing and bombs exploding are the worst sounds to hear on earth.
I was hiding behind my handkerchief whenever there were mass killings going on.
And the next time we have another VCD night, we must watch something happier, like Finding Nemo or something. Hahaha.
Anyway, I got home extremely late. Boohoo. Don't you think 11.30pm is too early for the last bus to depart? I think it is. I spent like 40mins waiting for buses in total and in the end I missed the bus that would have brought me home, so I walked all the way home. Boohoo. Don't worry, it was only a distance of about 2 bus stops. Had to trouble my father to wait downstairs for me because it was so damn late, about 12.30am already. I should have taken the NEL. Thought that taking a bus home from Woodlands would be faster but didn't consider the waiting time. Boohoo.
Am on my 3rd repeat of the Tao Ze CD. Hahaha. And my sister got a discman, the lucky girl. Haha.

It's been a really busy but fun week. Been out almost everyday. Very tiring, and once again I feel the need to spend more time at home instead of gallivanting around in the streets.
Long post ahead, because I haven't blogged for so long and have lotsa things to say, so if you are not in the mood for reading lines and lines of words you might want to reconsider reading. :)
First, there was the search for Sandy's prom outfit on Tuesday. Then the search for Sandy's prom outfit (part II) on Wednesday, because her mother was dissatisfied with the top she bought. Sigh. And later in the evening, the String Orch's so-called Seniors' Farewell, which we managed to persuade our juniors to have it at Crystal Jade instead of Seoul Garden, because the former is cheaper, well slightly anyway, and Sandy can't eat heaty stuff because she is still recovering from sunstroke, plus we're extremely sick of Seoul Garden because it seems like EVERY String Orch outing is at Seoul Garden. It wasn't half as bad, took some photos (which I will post the link to later) and managed to catch up with Shuhui's interesting events in her life. Ha ha ha.
On Thursday me and my sister went out, went to J8 and bought some assessments for my P5 cousin, which I have YET to start tutoring her. Then we sorta crashed VJC's prom at Ritz Carlton, just to visit our VJ friends and take photos with them. Left after a short while though. :) Ah but they look really pretty.
Right now I'm uploading my prom pictures, and they are taking about a million years to get uploaded. -__- Eurgh.
Prom Night!
It was quite fun, really. Especially with the right people around.
Started off with me supposedly meeting Sandy and Shuhui to paint nails, but then I woke up late and met them at AMK MRT station with Ching Yin instead. From there we went to do our hair! At my mom's usual hairstylist salon place. My hair wasn't too bad, the lady sprayed some reddish-copper thing all over my hair. And while we were leaving, we met this insane guy who barged into the hairdresser's demanding compensation because he scrapped his finger against the hairdresser's door. And then he was very unreasonable and later very submissive when the guy demanded that he get out or he'll call the police. And then he kept hanging around the door, with shifty eyes, and kept entering to disturb the hairdressers at work... and spouting rubbish all along. So FREAKY! We were quite scared and tried to leave by the back door. *shudder* Luckily the guy was very firm, but better safe than sorry. We thought that guy was going to come in to steal something. We sort of ran all the way out of the back door and hastily took a cab to Taka where we were supposed to do our makeup at Anna Sui.
Oh, the lady at the makeup counter trimmed my so-called eyebrows, and it cost me $10! Ahhh! But my mom says that it looks quite nice. But my mom has weird taste, haha.
Anyway, she did my makeup rather quickly and put on so much mascara! My eyelashes felt so sticky. We paid and left and went to the hotel. Heard that there was some problems in getting a room for us, but must really thank Pam's sister for helping us out. And the lift at Meritus Mandarin! It's so irritating. I went up and down the lift like 5 times because I didn't know that you had to slot in the room key before you could press the level that you wanted. Garh. Rotted in the room with Sandy and did my nails (which turned out to be quite ugly) and waited for the rest to come.
Then Corinne came and helped me to peel off my burnt skin. Hahahaha. And she looked really angelic and princessy in her baby blue gown, hair and makeup :D Then came Xiuhui with her curls. And Pam was very pretty! So were Chun Yan and Sze Hsien. Haha. Didn't really get into the rush of preparing with the rest, because I finished getting ready very early (about 4.30pm, 2 hours before prom was supposed to start), so I just took some photos and then went down to the lobby to meet Ade (who came specially to see us). Then I went up and rotted for a while, couldn't see my friends anywhere. And one thing - the reception at Meritus Mandarin is really bad. I couldn't hear anything on my handphone. Tried to contact my friends but I guess I went up too early, so I just walked about and people-observed while other people were milling around...
Our souvenir was a metal water bottle with the words "NJC" or something on it. Anyway, I saw the swine at the door and tried not to make him notice me when I entered the ballroom. Went to our STB table, which was right in front of the giant left-hand screen. Bleah. The girls arrived, and we took lots of photos. Was quite fun. Too many flashes and too many cameras, think I might have perfected the art of smiling that night, bwhahaha. The dinner started 1.5hours later, at about 8pm. The food was an exact repeat of what I ate one week ago at my sister's graduation dinner which was held at the same exact place, with a few exceptions. And, the food was really quite bad.
Oh, and some of my string orch juniors were supposed to play at the reception, but you know what happened? They came late and didn't play. @_@ I shall refrain from commenting about anything on my juniors.
Retreated to the hotel room after that, and had a really great time with the girls, eating, chilling, talking, playing prank calls on ex-papa and other guys in class, but it was quite disappointing, because they're all either 1) sleeping 2) partying/clubbing or 3) didn't turn on their phone! Ahhhh! And great-grandma Xiuhui was so hyper throughout the night. Even me, the owl, felt drowsy by 6am. Didn't get to play mahjong, because I was taking a bath, and when I came out they weren't playing anymore. Boohoo. And the room was quite cold, because I kept sneezing and honking into my tissue. Haha.
7am! And we decided to call ex-papa one final time. Finally! He picked up and I started screeching at the top of my lungs and sang a rather out-of-tune "12 days of Christmas". Hahahaha. I think poor ex-papa was shocked.
Decided to go eat breakfast. Xiaojing (who stayed over! Yay!) and Chun Yan had to leave, so we took one last group shot and the remaining 5 walked to Delifrance to eat. Orchard Road in the early morning is quite quiet and not as bustling as it is in the afternoons/evenings. Went back to the hotel, and I plonked on the bed and fell asleep. Very tired, lah. Especially with the busy day before.
Went to eat Chatterbox chicken rice for lunch! It was nice. :p Yummy! Checked out at about 2pm, and went home. The whole prom experience was really fun. I didn't regret going for it. Now I have 80+ photos and beautiful memories to keep.
We definitely must do the hotel stayover thing again, perhaps when I'm not so broke. Hahaha.
Went home for 2 hours and left for Mel's house after that. Amazing how I still managed to find the energy to go out. The dinner at her house was a rather quiet affair, because 4 out of 9 of us didn't turn up. Sandy and Shuhui got lost and we had to go pick them up. Left her house at 10pm. Zzzzz.
On Sunday I went for my maternal grandmother's 76th birthday celebration. Didn't really feel like going, but my mom is ever-so-insisting. Boo. Was quite boring, I never really liked going for the extended family get-togethers because I hardly know any of them and whether he is my 4th uncle or 6th auntie or some 2nd cousin. Bleah. My maternal family is HUGE. But at least I get more hongbaos. So practical, hor? :D
Watched the Star Awards there, and as expected, Holland V bagged most of the awards. Huang Yiliang was really scarastic though, I think he's quite a cocky person.
Slacked at home today, and watched TV. Feels good. Hahaha. Sandy called and asked me if I would like to go down to the Inland Revenue or whatever place to ask if there are job vaccancies. Frankly speaking I don't feel like going. Or getting any job right now. I'm so lazy. But I haven't even started on my tuition job and if I'm going to incur huge debts (and the debt list below is growing) I figured I should hurry up go earn some money and be free from those money burdens. Bah.
That was a super long post. Alright back to uploading photos. They're driving me crazy. It's taking a million and one years for them to get uploaded.
Till next time.

I need a financial planner.
My huge debts that I incurred/or about to incur:
owes Gillian an infinite amount of money, so much that I've already forgotten how much I owe her. BAH.
owes my mother another infinite amount of money for my SMS expenditure
owes sis $15
needs $50 for hair and makeup
needs $30 +++ for hotel room
needs $50 +++ for chalet and other expenses
owes $10 + to pay Sandy for nail polish stuff and taxi fare
needs money for Christmas presents
needs $15 + to pay for Christmas concert ticket
needs money to eat and survive
more to come
Total outflow of money -- infinity
Sources of inflow of money:
2 people owe me $5 for Mabel's present (thats $10)
my auntie owes me $12.75
1st tuition payment, about $70 after splitting with my sis
Total inflow of money -- $92.75
Total savings -- $0
Woohoo. I'm broke.
I can't manage my expenses! Arrrrgggghhh this is not good news.
Prom tomorrow, and I still haven't packed my bag for the stayover. Yay. Anyway, it's gonna be a busy day.
It's a busy weekend!

What type of dancer are you?

Hahahahaha. Me? A pom-pom wavin' cheerleader?
You are Wintergreen.
You are cool and collected. You are very
comfortable with yourself and what you do.
Even if you have a lot of responsiblities, you
always manage to be in control. You are
sometimes laid-back and you are always the
voice of reason. However, others may see you
as lazy or detached sometimes, unable to act
responsibly.

fairly mature.Myterious to the utmost water is

Hoho I'm shedding dead skin like a snake. Ssssss.

Who are you kidding?
You could NEVER be a dire weather forecast.
Your pure nature keeps you smiling all day long.
In fact, it's annoying. Let something get under
your skin for once!
What DIRE WEATHER FORECAST do you turn into when you're angry?

Polluted air. *scowls*
Anyway! Been looking like some scaly freak with skin disease for the past 2 days, glad to announce that 98% of my face has peeled already, which means I can finally face the public bravely (haha). Imagine the amount of dead skin I've shed! (Face only though, we're not talking about the shoulders yet.) I missed the class BBQ as a result. Quite a pity though, was really looking forward to it -- after all, it's the last time we congregate as a class. And the food! (ok I admit, I wanted to go coz of the food, hahaha)
Am hoping that my shoulders peel completely BEFORE Friday looms ahead. They're showing signs of peeling! Yay! Quick peel quick peel! I've been slathering aloe vera gel dutifully and I keep examining my skin every now and then. Hahaha. Being sunburnt is such a lousy feeling. Folks, remember, if you're staying out in the sun for prolonged periods of time, USE SUNBLOCK!!!
At least I can attend prom, minus the disfigured face, and hopefully minus the scaly shoulders. Ah, whatever. At the most I'll just throw on some jacket for the whole evening if my shoulders are too disgraceful to be seen.
I spent the whole day with my eyes glued to the TV screen. Hahaha. My eyesight, I predict, will deteriorate, since I sit so close to the TV (minus specs). The TV, computer, and handphone are my favourite companions when stuck at home.
My mom says that I'm putting on weight (read: getting too fat for my own good). So I am adviced to eat less rice and cut down on my intake of food. And drink less milk. And prefably exercise more. But I'm such a lazy bum, plus I love to eat, so I think that is virtually impossible. And I like HL milk! Plus there's nothing to eat or drink at late at night/early morning when I'm hungry except plain water. But! Ah-ha! The wonders of determination comes in handy. So I shall try to reduce my weight a little. Hopefully back to the my Sec 4 weight. (says alot about how much I've put on ever since I entered JC.)
And when your mom says that you should slim down, maybe you should heed her advice, because you're getting fatter!
My auntie and me take turns to be busy. (Funny how she needs to be around when my cousin is the one having tuition.) So after 2 weeks, I still haven't had my tuition session with my cousin, which means payday will be delayed. Sigh! I need cash! Pronto!
My 2 good friends are Missing In Action. One's enjoying herself Down Under while the other's busy with work. Sigh. I want to go eat 花生胡 again! And we need to go out! Soon! Haven't had a REHK reunion since, my birthday celebrations in October?! But luckily, due to the wonderful advancement of technology, we get to exchange 2 SMSes a day while Saint's in Australia. Blah.
Going out with Sandy again tomorrow! We're doing some prom shopping for her, as she's even more sunburnt that me (if that is possible) and the poor girl can't wear her original outfit. Gotta scoot. More next time! :)
