Recently I find myself getting irritated over all sorts of minor things. Like walking behind a group of slowpokes. I cannot stand walking behind a big group who walk in a single horizontal line or somehow manage to crowd the entire passage way. Especially when I'm in a rush. And it's so freaking difficult to overtake the slowpokes because I need to find a good time and opportunity to squeeze past the ones walking on the outside, and make sure there's no oncoming traffic. And sometimes when you see a gap widening you try to squeeze through, but lo and behold! The fella blocks the gap in the next second. Geez. WALK FASTER LAH! Or maybe I'm just walking too fast recently (must be coz I'm always late for classes, so walking fast is a becoming a habit!) coz I'm walking with a few friends I always somehow end up walking in front while the rest trot behind at a leisurely pace. And then I have to slow down deliberately and look like an idiot while waiting for the rest to catch up.

This slow-walking happens everywhere! Especially on that AS1/AS6 walkway to the library, bah! All the freaking groups of people will chatter happily and take their freaking time to stroll while many other people get bunched up behind them until someone has the good sense to keep to one side. Even on the freaking escalators! I can't stand taking the train from Outram Park, coz NEVER EVER have I seen people keeping to the left on the escalator up to the East-West line platform. The other day I was 20 mins late for my tutorial coz I missed the EW train to Buona Vista. IF I TOOK THAT TRAIN I'D HAVE CAUGHT THE DAMN 95! But instead, I had to wait 6 mins for the train and eternity for 95. Stupid buses. GRRR.

At least at good old Harbourfront during peak periods, everyone's like click clack click clack along the passageway (the sound of ladies' shoes - seriously go to Harbourfront MRT station at 830am on a weekday, you'll hear nothing except for click clack click clack) and I'm like zip zip zip overtake overtake. The passageway is wide and it's good for walking fast. And overtaking. Sometimes I feel like I'm a car trying to change lanes.

Okay this is such a pointless entry but I'm just annoyed at slow walkers so everybody, walk faster! Or maybe I need to stop this ridiculous need for going fast fast fast but it's a freaking fast-paced society I'm in! Maybe I should go to New Zealand and graze with the sheep and frolic in the sun for a bit. Baaaaaaaa.

I like jumping on bandwagons. I did this see-who-you-look-like thing last week and it's rather amusing.

So I uploaded some rubbish photo of myself and lo and behold! They say I have a 56% resemblance to Jamie Lynn Spears (sister of Britney, FYI).

I look like a 15 year old kid.

They also said I look like Diane Keaton. Who is Diane Keaton???

And also Elle Macpherson.

Supermodel leh!

Then I decided to try another flattering photo of myself. Unfortunately in my vast database of stupid photos, there weren't many flattering photos of myself (coz they were stupid photos). My next search came up with:

Claude Lelouch (who ah?)

Sean Bean

Hillary Clinton

Ronaldo (woah, too bad I can't kick a ball to save my life)

Jackie Chan (and I dunno kungfu)

Why are there so many males in the list?!

Now I put up my prom photo with ugly hair, cheeks that look like a baboon's backside and eyebrows that don't look like mine. And I get Tata Young.

Plus Lucy Liu! Emma Watson! Kirsten Dunst! Jamie Lynn Spears (again)!

This could go on and on and on... and in the end I will look like every freaking celebrity on the planet based on this thing but I got bored of copying and pasting photos... Other famous faces include Nelson Mendela, Colin Firth, Maggie Cheung, Zhang Yimou, wahaha. I even got Condoleeza Rice last week, but I forgot which photo I used. Heh heh.

Anyway, just for kicks, I uploaded a photo of Ian Thorpe to see whether there'll be a 100% match with himself. And you know what? There was no match found!!! Whaddaya mean no match found?! Is Ian Thorpe not famous enough to be included in your database of famous faces?! Grrrrrr!

Last Saturday I went back to St. Nicks for the funfair and indulged in a St. Nicks doll.

St. Nicks doll with my NJ bear.

But it was nice walking up the familiar Street 13 and wandering around familiar territory. Nothing much has changed, except for the colours. Even the mirrors are still at the same places. Haha. But it was super crowded, hot, stuffy and noisy at the funfair. I suppose we should all go back one day when it's not so crowded and we don't have to shout to hear each other, and listen to the windchimes tinkling, order a humongous amount of food (especially the much loved orange bowl) and stuff ourselves silly. Sounds good? :)

That said, I feel like I'm losing a friend to a game. It's very disappointing.

I'm so glad that this horrible week is over (and yes for the record, I'm still alive!) because the general feeling of zombiness is not very fun. There's nothing much to do this weekend, so I can spend some time bonding with Hamster, playing my much-neglected game, and watching TV... Yay!

My computing project is due on Wednesday and I have a lot of grievances about it... but this is not the place to whine... 隔墙有耳!
And yeah and there's still projects and reports to worry about... one horrible week over, but many more to come...
I must also remind myself that the exams for my core modules are crammed in 2 days... that's 3 exams in 2 days. BUCK UP BUCK UP!

I had a very nice dream last night! Because in my dream, I got to see Ian Thorpe! And he even gave me a hug in my dream! *floats to heaven*

And poor Hamster seems to be getting a red eye... I'm not too sure but her eye doesn't look like normal... Hope it's nothing serious. :(

And Si Yi flops over and dies.

Yesterday I slacked.
Today I panic.
Tomorrow I flop over.
Wednesday I'll die!!!

Oh essay... Oh presentation.... Oh project... Oh quiz... Oh mid-term...
Why must you all occur in the same week?!

I was on the train. I was bored. I couldn't fall asleep. I started talking to myself. Mentally, I mean. Much like how I'm sounding like on this blog. I started addressing my imaginary audience. And then I just came up with these wonderful recipes.

And to prevent myself from forgetting all these words and sentences that I conjured out of nowhere, I actually wrote all of the stuff that was in my head down. Good things are meant to be shared!

Sigh, if only I was this enthusiastic about my school work!

Recipes to achieve Enviable Eyebags, Hair Loss (from excessive hair-pulling) and General Hysteria
(you may wish to tweak the recipes a little to achieve other equally devastating effects)

1. Short 2-page report for Developmental Psychology. Throw in failed broadband connections 24 hours before it is cooked for added taste and more obvious eyebags. Best when served before 10am tomorrow. Serves 6.
Potency level: Mild.

2. IT1001 project. Bake next Tuesday at 12pm, then add fancy HTML to transform it into a delectable webpage. Print and serve nicely on a web browser. Procrastination and a bunch of helpless/clueless cooks will cause eyebags and hair loss to be more pronounced. Expect to sacrifice your own time to ensure that this dish is made to perfection. Product will be ready for consumption on 22nd March, but it requires constant attention on your part. Serves 4.
Potency level: Average

3. PL3234 presentation. A short snack that requires minimal effort. Prepare and let others test-taste it, then when the time is ripe, try and gobble it down as quickly as possible even though it might taste horrible. Do not inform others that you actually have no idea what you are making. Or eating. Serves 6.
Potency level: Average

3. 1000-word essay for EL2111. Take one week to think of what ingredients you would like for the essay, and then panic when you realize that the dish is uncooked. When you finally start cooking, take out the 2111 mid-term paper and deep fry. Gobble it up as a snack, then you will concentrate on your task at hand and not think of the lousy grade you got coz you just ate it up! Serves 1.
Potency level: Very High

4. 10% quiz for EL2101. Place in pressure cooker for 30 minutes. An increase in pressure will be needed if a score of zero was achieved in previous quiz. General stomach discomfort is to be expected if dish is taken on the same day as 1000-word essay. But be careful not to overcook it, else general hysteria effect will be irreversible. Serves 1.
Potency level: Very High

5. Social Psychology quiz. Prepare only on the day when you consume 1000-word essay and 10% quiz. Of course, you have the option of preparing the ingredients beforehand, but results of eyebags and frazzled nerves will not be as effective. Freeze for one hour with a clueless girl and lots of uncompleted readings in an LT (an LT is a fridge that can store hundreds of human beans). Serves 1.
Potency level: High

6. EL2111 project. Consult other cooks for help, then sit around and wait for nothing to happen. Wonder to yourself occassionally if you should start the fire. Serves 4.
Potency level: Not so high yet

7. PL2131 group report. Dish has been planned for months, but prepare only when it is ready for consumption. To fully bring out the flavour, no further instructions will be needed till then or else devastating effects will not show. Serves 5.
Potency level: Mild

Other healthy side dishes include: Constant brewing of EL2101 discussions, cooking sessions held with other cooks, TV watching and attending the SN fun fair. These side dishes will further enhance Devastating Effects due to a special condiment called Lack Of Time. You may also adopt the "Sleep Less, Cook More" routine, as eyebags, zombified behaviour and tiredness is almost guaranteed if you follow that routine.

This egg hatches on 04/05/06! Adopt one today!

I drank too much tea today. 2 cups. Therefore I felt bloody unnatural. Jittery. Tingly. All that caffeine surging through my bloodstream!

I feel a sorethroat coming up. And incredulously, I managed to get 4 CCA points even though I never did anything!

And today was just a long, tiring day. ZZZZZZZZ.

Ian Thorpe is sick and he's not gonna participate in the Commonwealth Games. Sharks. =(

Seeing that I am considerate and don't wish to bore you all with my complaints of school work, I shall post some Hamster photos for your viewing pleasure.

Hamsterrrrr! i.e. the most adorable hamster in the world!

Hamster peers at you suspiciously.

This is not Hamster. Obviously. This is Mr. Dog, and behind Mr. Dog are my Developmental Psych readings. Am I hardworking or what?! Heh.

I was bored. I was falling asleep while manning the booth at the travel fair. And I was mentally lamenting about having to come to school bright and early for meetings, discussions, whatnots, kablah, kablah (one of my presentation mates used this word today and I thought it had a nice ring to it!).

Eh, what happened to my days when I appear only at the stipulated time for lessons, and nothing more? What happened to the days when I dash home immediately when the buzzer sounds? Now it seems like every other freaking day I have some nonsense _____ (insert activity) to deal with. Sigh, why am I spending so many unnecessary hours in school now?

This is bloody murder! This is workload suicide! This is the horrible aftermath of taking six bloody modules!

Oops, I ended up complaining after all. Sigh.

Out of the blue, I received a phone call from a primary school classmate inviting me to her 21st birthday party. Wow, I haven't seen her ever since I graduated I think. So yep I decided to go.

So I went. But anyway, it was weird. I felt invisible. I knew nobody and nobody knew me. Well except for a couple of other friends, the rest were from her Primary 5 and 6 class and I didn't know them very well. I had to stare hard at some of them before I could place their faces and their names, and I think they didn't know who I was too!

Still, I managed to have a little chat with the few that I knew and caught up on recent happenings, like what happened to so-and-so, and where is so-and-so now. That wasn't too hard. I think my social skills are improving. Wahaha.

One friend who was in the same class as me from Primary 1-3 even owns a car now. Her own freaking car! Bought and paid for it by herself! Not from daddy's pocket, mind you. I was reminded of how different we are. All at the same tender age of 20 but leading such vastly different lives. And you could hear the two distinct types of conversations, the one where we talked about school stuff (one fella even gasped "Are they talking about school work?!") and the one where we talked about non-school stuff.

And there was the food. There was a lot of food. BBQ food and buffet food. But then I was too paiseh to eat like a glutton in front of a tableful of strangers. So not like me, I know. In the end I didn't stuff myself like I'd usually do. Wahlao, what a waste of good food now that I come to think of it.

In the end I didn't even get to talk to the birthday girl. She was too busy running from place to place and entertaining her hoards of friends. Ah, and that wraps up the first 21st birthday party I've attended this year.

Wahlao, today is such a screwed up day. I OVERSLEPT AND WOKE UP AT TEN AM FOR MY QUIZ THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO START AT TEN AM! Naturally, I won't be able to make it for my quiz even if I take a bleeding cab down to school. Bah! I am so pissed with myself, I want to get a sledgehammer and crash it into my head.

The quiz is 10% of the freaking module! And I am going to get a big fat ZERO for that! RAWR!!!

I need ten million alarm clocks. People, get me alarm clocks for my birthday. I must STOP MY BAD HABIT of falling asleep again after I turn off the noisy alarm.

On second thought, don't get me alarm clocks. I need a ROBOT. I can preset all my wake-up timings into the robot and the robot will forcibly drag me out of bed, throw me into the toilet and push me out of the house. Then I will never ever be late again and never ever will I need to spend unnecessary money on taking cabs. Or miss half of my lectures. Or run like a madwoman so that I wouldn't be late for my A level Maths paper. Or MISS A 10% QUIZ!!!

Speaking of A levels, my sis got her results today! And so I was looking in her yearbook and I spotted a few of my classmates from long long ago (think Primary school) in the list of people who got 4 distinctions and yada yada and I feel so unaccomplished and underachieved (?) because everyone is on their way to Great Things! They are smart and successful and living the life that they have always envisioned (at least that is what I think). And where am I?! What happened to me along the way?! I feel so horrible because I am succumbing to the tempting arms of Laziness and instead of achieving Great Things like the rest of my peers I am just another mediocre student, struggling even to score Bs... after all we were once on the same path onto Greatness and Wonderful Ideals aren't we... we all started out the same, but now Greatness and Wonderful Ideals aren't exactly in my vision, only Bleakness and Mediocrity.

I feel so ashamed of myself!
Because because because! If I had put in a teeny weeny bit more effort I'd probably be better than average... but... I just couldn't be bothered.

It's always these sort of sudden jolts of reality that make me feel like I've spent the past 20 years of my life doing many things, but actually nothing much at all. Compare me to the average undergrad on the street; what is there that I have that makes me stand out from other people? Nothing much, if you think about it. No spectacular results, no interesting life stories, no inspiring deeds, no life experience, no nothing. I'm even having trouble talking about an interesting aspect of myself during self-introductions in tutorials. I can just imagine how a prospective employer would react when I say "Oh, I watch a lot of TV... I go online very frequently, I enjoy killing walking mushrooms, and I like to talk nonsense on my blog."

Alright I'm rambling... my self-esteem has just taken a beating and I just needed to ramble on for a bit. I'm going to sleep right now so that I'll wake up bright and early tomorrow for my project meeting... never mind that I haven't researched on stuff for another project meeting for tomorrow afternoon... I'm sure my group mates will understand my compulsive need to TURN OVER A NEW LEAF (yeah right).
