Technology can be such a bane!!!
My yahoo email address decided to stop working suddenly and I'm stranded with a non-functional email address that doesn't receive mail. -___-"
This spells disaster!!! Practically my whole online life is built around that email address! It's been around since I was like 14 or 15?! And all my accounts are linked to it! Banks... social media... whatever random sign ups and mailing lists... blah blah blah. And worse still, with all the wedding prep now, all the correspondences with vendors and stuff!
I've been missing a ton of emails and it's simply not coming in! Yahoo's Help FAQ is also pretty useless. I decided to switch my primary address to Gmail. But it's annoying having to uproot and move to another address when this yahoo one is what I'm used to. Zzzzzz.
Please send all emails to hahaheehee@gmail.com with immediate effect!

My poor, long suffering blog. Always here when I am angry or upset and I need an outlet to rant. But when things are calm and peaceful, it goes down the pecking order and gets ignored while I get distracted by Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and what-have-you. Ever selfless and giving, my blog doesn't fight for my attention and always waits patiently in the shadows. *pat pat*
And seriously how many social media platforms do I need?! Haha recently I hopped on the Dayre bandwagon (it's like microblogging on the go - if Twitter and Instagram had a rendezvous and had a kid, Dayre would be it).
But well nothing fascinating has been happening... or wait has there been? OK let me share some recent bakes:

Went for a log cake baking class last Saturday and this ended up as dessert for the Nepal celebratory dinner!
I asked my mom to buy lots of Christmas cake decorations back from Phoon Huat. Haha. Shall attempt to replicate the log cake again closer to Christmas.
I'm pretty sure I baked something similar before but since I only had 3 small bananas left, I went to google for stuff that I could make with 150g bananas haha. So specific. But anyway I liked this version a lot, they were incredibly soft and fragrant. As with all banana+walnut combinations, it could do with some choc chips but I ran out of them.
Been really tempted to buy a lot of stuff lately, like a hand mixer, the Olympus Stylus XZ-10, and the Babyliss Big Hair 42mm. AHHH CONSUMERISM IS EVIL!!! All these are just wants and not needs. Like my Olympus E-PM1 is still serving me well but sometimes it's a little bulky to carry around plus I want something that can transfer photos from camera to phone using the wi-fi card. -_-
And I want a hand mixer because it's more handy and convenient instead of having to lug the huge mixer out of the storeroom when I want to bake something simple.
And seriously I always tie my hair up so why do I need the Babyliss product so that my hair can look like I just stepped out of the salon?
OK I shall convince myself that all this is not needed. Coz if I buy all these then essentially I will have nothing leftover from my AWS.

And recently Paul got himself a second-hand bike and I've never ridden on a bike before (save for one time in Cambodia) so this will take some getting used to! Riding a bike requires lots of planning and also the mood of the skies. I wanted an orange helmet hurhurhur but I guess most riders like boring colours because there are absolutely no orange helmets out there unless I spray paint it myself. So my helmet is pink. Haha. Wave if you see a pink head that looks vaguely like me on the roads!

Estimates here because my phone died right after the 10km mark, so what I know was based on the audio cues. I think I managed 11km at most.
Oh! Finally bought the arm band so that my hands can be free while jogging, but honestly it looks ridiculous to have the Note strapped to my arm simply because the Note is huge. -__-
And then there is the issue of tangled, flapping wires which are kinda irritating. I tried to look for a wireless headset at Comex but the only model I found (a Creative which had Bluetooth capability and was within my budget) didn't fit comfortably and snugly around my ears. ああ、そう. The hunt for the wireless headphones continues.

Oh yes and I tried googling myself and to my horror it lead me to my Facebook page, a Cozycot page with my photo displayed, my Instagram page and even a Tutor's website where my O and A Level results were displayed. So you never know what traces you leave online.
And you know what this means? Don't give your future kid a super uncommon name for the sake of standing out.

The screen is huge and awesome. You will not want to look at an iPhone screen for long again once you get used to the Samsung Galaxy Note. But it's definitely not as idiot proof as the iPhone. I'm still trying to get used to the Andriod OS.
Was deciding between the newly released pink phone and the white one. Somebody told me I don't suit the pink, too girly for me. Really meh? I thought it's quite funky leh. And besides, I get a cozycot goodie bag supposedly worth $100 just because I bought the pink phone! They want to conquer the female market? YES YOU HAVE MY VOTE! LOL.
I'm selling my iPhone away for a good price. Much sadness indeed. It has after all been with me for the past 21 months - it went to Bali, the good ol' USA, Hong Kong, and a couple of small trips in between! I documented much of my 2011 in it - that was when I tried to (and failed to) maintain my Project 365 blog. It's a treasure trove of information - the countless whatsapp chats, messages, games, tweets, my schedule, how many kilometers I run and how many calories I burn, even when I get my periods LOL (thanks to the period tracker) and when I have bowel movement (hahahaha yes I know TMI but for a while I religiously updated my bowel movement in this cute calendar app called CanimalsDiary hahahahahaha) etc etc. Eh, practically 2 whole years of my life in that phone! No wonder people are so attached to their phone nowadays. It probably knows more stuff about you than your husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend/mother/father.
But that's life. Say goodbye to the old so that better things can enter your life! Letting go and moving on is not my forte. But we gotta learn how to do that somehow eh? I'm looking forward to filling this pink bimbotic Note with more information in the next 21 months! :D

I bought a new camera at the IT Fair a couple of weeks back and I've been trying to figure out how to use it well.
Was originally gunning for an Olympus E-P3 but it was selling for close to $1,300! :O
My other option was the E-PL3, but the only fancy thing about it was that it had a flip screen. So I settled for the Olympus E-PM1 instead. Smaller, lighter, and half the price of the E-P3!
I must say that the Olympus is not exactly very user friendly or intuitive. Took me a while to figure out the bells and whistles. There is a dial button and you're supposed to turn the wheel to playback photos, instead of using the left/right buttons. And I don't like the fact that it has no auto-rotate feature. :(
But my intent of getting a mirrorless camera was to try and learn to take better quality photos, without the bulk of a DSLR. And this means I gotta learn about aperture, shutter speed, and all that gobbledygook.
For someone who is used to a point-and-shoot camera, now I have to fix the camera lenses on, bring along an external flash and a huge casing wherever I go. It's not exactly very convenient. And I'm realizing that this is going to be a rather costly hobby if I were to be serious about taking nice photos, because the lenses don't come cheap. :(

Tried my hand at making Tofu Cheesecake on Saturday night, left it overnight in the fridge to chill and ta-dah! All nice and ready on Sunday. :)
And it's pretty easy to make! (Recipe from Happy Home Baking)
Pardon the low quality photos taken with my lousy iPhone 3GS, which is incidentally giving me tons of grief because the processor is too slow to handle my multi-tasking. I'm due for re-contracting next month. Should I go for the Samsung Galaxy Note, or the Galaxy SII? It does seem a little ridiculous receiving calls with the Note coz of it's huge size though.
I digress! On to photos!
Ingredients for the biscuit base
Crush the digestive biscuits in a ziplock bag to minimize the mess
Pack the crushed biscuits firmly to form the base. I bought a 7"x7" pan for this only to realize that my mom also has one at home. -_-
I stared at the picture trying to figure out what the stuff in the bowl is... till I remembered it was gelatin. LOL.
Beat everything as seen above with electric mixer till smooth and creamy
And this is the finished product after a night in the fridge! :D
It tastes pretty good too :) Except that I kind of overdid it with the lemon juice and it's a little sour. And I didn't follow the proportions that closely because I also added in a small glob of leftover cream cheese in the fridge. But it's not bad for a first attempt. SUCCESS!
Surfing lots of baking blogs now and there are so many recipes that I want to try! Cheese cake sticks next maybe?
Oh! And I know what to do with all that leftover whipping cream in my fridge. I'm gonna attempt to make Panna Cotta!!! Hurhurhurhur. Saw this in The Sunday Times:
The recipe calls for large amounts of whipping cream! Yay!
If successful, I'm gonna try and make Pandan Panna Cotta! Then I won't need to go to Wild Rocket or Relish for Panna Cotta anymore! Heh. :p

(To be accurate, it's not the 13th celebration, since I think we only decided that 23 Feb was REHK Day much much later... but oh well, technicalities. :))
Started off the day with brunch at Relish, near the Botanic Gardens.
Which turned out to be almost-lunch instead. Haha.
But they serve all-day breakfast I think.
Both the Saint and Empress had this blue cheese burger
I opted for this cod fish cakes. Not nice! Too dry. Don't order. Should have just ordered their traditional breakfast set or something.
Of course, the star items were the desserts. Since Relish is under the Wild Rocket group, the desserts at Wild Rocket are also replicated in their menu.
Deconstructed strawberry cheesecake, yums!
Pandan panna cotta! Which I raved about when I first tried it at Wild Rocket. Still delish and melts in your mouth.
Instead of doing the REHK Day tradition of eating and er, eating some more, we decided to do something different and embarked on a walk down the Southern Ridges!
Healthy lifestyle eh! :D
Spotted a snake which slithered from the ground to the tree!
Hort Park. Nice place to hold functions.

After all that walking, we've gots to reward ourselves with a good dinner. 天外天鱼头炉!

Anyway, I think the colour of my photos taken by my Panasonic Lumix look pretty washed out. Compare with the photo that I took with my iPhone (the panna cotta and cheesecake). Granted, those were after editing by photo apps but the colour looks so much more vibrant!
Thinking of buying the Olympus E-Pen 3, maybe during the next IT fair! Sigh $$$$.
Oh yes and Citibank refunded me the amount that was charged for that dubious online transaction. Now they are "investigating" the case.

I think I'm a victim of credit card fraud.
Noticed a dubious transaction while I was checking my credit card statement online. An amount of about USD$220 was charged to my card when I was pretty sure that I didn't purchase anything from any US-based online websites recently. Not even Victoria's Secrets (though I was pretty tempted to get stuff a few weeks ago).
Called up Citibank and asked if they could block this transaction. They were not very helpful (the customer service officer told me to google and check out which merchant it was) and basically said that they couldn't block the payment coz it was an online transaction. Oookay. So I googled and was led to a website called Cache, which sells clothing and stuff. Never in my life have I heard of Cache and I most definitely did not purchase anything from this website. I can only conclude that a sneaky someone must have somehow gotten my credit card details through unorthodox means and used it to pay for stuff that I didn't even buy.
The CS officer advised me to email the site and to check, which I already did and am waiting for their reply.
I called Citibank again for a second time to ask them to block my card and this second CS officer asked me to fill in a dispute form. Goodness knows how long it will take for them to investigate and I wonder when I can get my money back. USD$220+ is close to SGD$300 already leh! THEY BETTER GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK.

Aloha!!! I gave my blog a facelift today! :D
Come to think of it, I have been using the same blogskin for the past 6,7 years! Stopped fiddling around with my blog ever since I entered Uni. To think that in the past I used to be quite enthusiatic about coding and designing my own blogskins! Haiz, I've really lost that creativity and the ability to decipher code that only computers understand.
The thing about templates is that it doesn't offer that level of flexiblilty and customization that I like. And I don't know how to get rid of that fake twitter bar on the side and replace it with my own tweets. The me 8 years ago would probably know how, or would go and find out how. Fast forward to 2011 and the me now can't really be bothered any more. Haha.
I'm listening to the live stream of the SBS Gayo Daejun now as I blog. Finally figured out how to stream the bloody thing live after suffering with 2.5 hours of truncated videos and slow buffering speeds. I updated all my plug-ins and finally realized that I have to download TVU Player and install the corresponding plug-in. Bleahhhh. And now the show has just ended. -__- At least I still figured it out yo. Haven't totally lost that geek in me. TAKE THAT TECHNOLOGY!
I almost forgot about the SBS Gayo Daejun actually, if not for the fact that my little sister reminded me... Every year since 2007, I'd be camping in front of the computer on 29, 30, 31st Dec to watch the annual music shows. Now she can identify blurry pixalated figures in a flash while I'm like "who is that? Never heard that song before!"
Anyway back to my blog... I realized that this blog has been in existence since 2001! That would make my blog 10 years old this year!!! WOW!!!
My blog deserves a birthday cake! :D
Before this blog I wrote in places like the now-defunct teenopendiary... in fact I may have archived all my entries somewhere and it would probably make for good reading if I want to laugh at myself some day. Hahaha :D
Which would mean I have been rambling to myself on the Internet for 12 or 13 years! Admittedly I have been rambling much less now that I am old(er). But I'm gonna keep the rambling going! May this blog survive another 10 years and beyond yo! :D
ANDDDDDD... hate to say this but HALF OF MY WEEKLONG BREAK IS OVER and I AM VERY SAD :(
Already not looking forward to going back to work and facing nincompoops and kancheong spiders. Sigh!
(My almost brand-new laptop crashed while I was writing this entry. It is its evil way of getting back at me after I happily declared victory over technology.)

I love BlogPress, it's just like twitter except that I can ramble more without worrying about my character limit! Very much worth the US$2.99 that I paid IMO. Now I can revive my ailing blog with more random thoughts that nobody cares about. I remember how in the past I would be struck by inspiration on the bus/train/or some random place but by the time I get home that moment of spontaneity is gone. Or the mood to blog disappears.
Now if only BlogPress allows me to label my posts...

"More sex for iPhone users", it says. And what's the significance of this earth-shattering revelation? "We do not think this is conclusive that iPhone users are luckier in bedroom matters. Maybe the iPhone is the easiest to use, so its users have more spare time for other activities." Hahaha!
On the contrary I find that the iPhone is taking up a lot of my spare time! It's such a distracting gadget. Where got spare time for "other activities" you tell me?

I bought the BlogPress app. Yes yes yes, the iPhone is such a money sucker! First I spend money purchasing the phone. Then I buy a screen protector. Then I buy a case for it. Next came spending US$0.99 on What'sApp. Now it's another US$2.99 (I think) on BlogPress! And I also ordered another iPhone cover from Gmarket. On top of all this I am saddled with monthly phone bills of $40+. This is not good.
Hopefully with the BlogPress app I will start blogging a lot more regularly... I feel like my poor blog has not been getting much attention from me of late. And for the curious people who are actually interested in my boring life *waves to a grand total of 5 loyal readers - must be a slow news day if you are visiting this blog* get on Twitter if you aren't already on it!!! Coz I'm starting to tweet more and yes, it's all thanks to the iPhone again. Haha.
(Maybe the next thing I buy will be the Bejeweled app. -___-")

Just a quick update on my boring life before I try to go to sleep earlier. Boring and routine life aside, I am now an accidental iPhone user! And it has provided me with lots of distractions. It can be quite annoying sometimes (the iPhone is a selfish phone), and I miss some of the normal phone-y functions on my old Nokia, but on the whole, still getting used to it. It's a gaming phone. I only wish the battery doesn't die that fast. And there is no Blogger app!! Bah!
Last week also saw my first pay increment in 2 years. It's bonus month so we all got our salary review letters. 2.5 years in this place and the pay only inched up by this much. Boo. But still. Bonus is always good. Not a lot, but no fish, prawns also good lah.
AND! Last Friday I went to watch Jay Chou live in concert! :) It was an excellent show - if only he sang 霍霍霍... that would make the atmosphere super high! I screamed a lot and sang embarrassingly loudly to almost every song. Towards the end everyone stood up and waved their light sticks and sang along to his classic songs. It was like a mass KTV session :)
I also went to watch Inception - everyone's raving about it and the plot seemed pretty interesting. I think it might be a little overrated though. There was a scene where there was no gravity in a dream. Reminded me of my own dreams because I've had recurring dreams of myself floating in the air and being unable to get down!!! It was as if I'm a helium balloon. Never able to stay on the ground. That feeling is so insecure.
New colleague came in today, and I have to start the entire training process again. SIGH! I suddenly miss my old colleague. At least we are comfortable with each other's working styles and she knows how things work around here.
OK time to sleep. I am sleeping later and later these days. Used to sleep at 1.30am, then it became 2am, then it became 2.30am, and sometimes 3am. SIGH! Why like that?

I've been living without my computer for the past 7 days and today, finally, my computer came back to life!!! Got a friend who is well versed in techie stuff to help out and my computer was diagnosed with a dead hard disk. :(
So now I've got an almost spankin' brand new computer, or at least it feels that way. I've replaced the entire hard disk and loaded in the newest Windows 7. My computer is now totally devoid of data and programmes. I have to re-download all my programmes and mourn the loss of all my photos and files in my old hard disk. Very pek cek man. I DIDN'T BACK UP MY FILES!!!! Lesson learnt. Everyone, please go and back up your files NOW!!! (I lost Cambodia photos, Gassy photos, Ichee photos, sob sob!~ :( If I happen to send you photos pls send them to me? Else I'll just have to get the low res photos from Facebook...)
I really hope a miracle happens and some tech guru can recover some of the files in my old hard disk. :(
The stupid computer crash added to the pretty bad week. I'm fretting over this 800-word article that I have yet to write. I'm stuck in the middle of two people - and I have to travel to China to them. There are issues to deal with. I hope next week will be better.
