Everyone should visit this page for a very detailed analysis of the Chess Game in the 1st Harry Potter book, especially if you're a Harry Potter fan. It gave me new insight. I am amazed that they actually deciphered the book in such depth and wow, JK Rowling must have been some great genius if she plotted and planned for all that to happen over a span of possibly 7 books. It's so... deep.

I managed to finish the entire cabinet that was assigned to me, so now we have to check each other's stuff, and I'm not looking forward to that because checking could possibly as bad as, or even worse as data-keying. X___X
I might even fall plop on the desk and fall asleep -- which I of course, was on the verge of dangerously venturing to that scenario -- and they might fire me. And then I'll be jobless again.
Looking for jobs is about one of the worse things on earth.

I am very interested to go for Talentime 2004. Call it curiousity, I'm wondering how it will all turn out and I don't exactly know what to expect but it might be interesting to just go take a see-look.
I'm such a nosy-parker.

You, my friend are a true individual. You most
likely hate trends and are creative. By seeing
things differently, people either admire you or
think you are a bit strange. I'm guessing you
are a lot like me. Perhaps a Good Charlotte
hater? I hope so. An inspiration to us all,
continue being you! (If you like GC, I'm sorry,
I am just expressing an opinion)

A Deeper Look Inside Yourself (with pics)
brought to you by Quizilla

Experiencing the working life hasn't made me learnt much. It just made me understand how boring and routine and useless and mundane data-entry work can be. And it made me think about my future career paths, like whether or not I would want to spend a large portion of my life sitting in some boring old office that's freezing cold, staring at the computer mindlessly and typing stuff. Or maybe for a temp staff, the feeling's different.

Working means waking up early. I hate waking up early. I'm a lazy pig. I like to laze in bed.
Working means wearing formal clothes. I don't have much formal clothes. I wear odd, mismatched outfits. And I have to rummage through my small collection of clothes every morning. Waste of time.
Working means spending money on transport. $10 spent in 2 days. ARE THEY TRYING TO BLEED ME DRY OF MY MONEY?!
Working means spending money on lunch. Lunch anywhere except for maggi mee or canteen food is not cheap. Again, for the nth time -- altogether now -- I'm broke.
Working means squeezing and jostling with the rest of the working population for that tiny bit of feet space on trains. Not good. I stand all the way to work and stand all the way back.
It is precisely because of this that I've decided to do away with the heels because I cannot balance on 4 points.
Anyway, heels make my heels ache. Not a pun.

I have decided that I will go get another job after my contract ends that will require me to be more actively involved or at least on my feet. In that case, I can slowly inch towards my minus-6000g goal. Sitting in comfort for the whole day doesn't exactly help to reduce the expanding belly size.
Really. I think I look pregnant. Bah.

I would expound more about my work life, but then again, where's there to say about keying in data?
Oh. The people in the office are quite nice. They offered me a pineapple tart, a sour plum, and helped me with the laptop. As a newcomer, I keep bugging them with questions on how to key in the correct data, but they don't really seem to mind... much.
The other temp girl is also quite nice. We only talk during lunch and on our way home though.
And they cannot remember my name lah. Chinese names are hard to remember. Short names ending with vowels seem even harder to remember. Haha.

I think, we committed a grave mistake. Or if you would call it a mistake.
Ah. I can't put it into words.

I had a funny/deprived/blatantly explicit chat on ICQ with the Royalties last night and yeah. I miss those times.

Dinner with my friends was wonderful. Full house again (I know the agony of getting everyone together) and happiness was abundant.

My mother is nagging at me to sleep, because I have to work tomorrow, but I cannot fall asleep so early. What's the point of lying on my bed, tossing and turning, and counting sheep/cows/horses/whatever when I can spend more time doing more constructive things?

There. Another naggy reminder. URGH.

Chinese New Year was just boring.

All I did was to vegetate in the living room for lack of better things to do. Yawn. And my mother! Once she starts yakking she can't stop. So despite me looking very annoyed and impatient and wanting to leave, she was still happily yakking away. Even when there was hardly anyone left. Sigh. I don't like CNY visiting.

I don't even get to play mahjong!

Anyway, SATs were bad. 2000 people were taking the SATs at the Expo and the adminstration sucked, so we were all delayed and the test only started at 10am while I was there bright and early (for once) at 7.50am. Bleah.
So I kept dozing off during the paper and therefore I've concluded that I shouldn't pin my hopes on it.

I want to go to my friends' houses, but sigh. They're all busy! I shouldn't expect everyone to be a lazy slacker like me, haha, always open to social gatherings. But anyway, all these will end when I start work tomorrow. So anyway, all plans fell through the dust, and I'm bored at home now.

I've even finished most of the stuff to do on my To Do list. With the possible exception for Exercise, which I have been putting off forever. Hah.

Hurrah!!! I shaved another second off my 37-second-Intermediate Minesweeper record. Mwhahaha.

Had a very hearty reunion dinner just now.
Aunt and uncles were asking about my new job. What I was planning to do in University. Blah blah blah.
And of course, they had to comment on my ability to sit through the entire dinner chomping away at my food and the fact that I ate more than some of them.

On the brighter side, I got play mini-mahjong just now.
On the darker side, I have to go visiting tomorrow. I don't want to go to some smoke infested place. No no no.
It's boring to sit in a corner for the whole day, entertaining random questions that relatives are so fond of asking. I visit my extended extended family (think my dad's cousins, my great-grandmother -- no not the Ichee one, my grandmother's brothers and sisters, and my numerous cousins and even my cousins' sons and daughters). So I hardly know what my relation to them is. They could just be a stranger on the street for all I know.

Aiyeee. I wish I could just wake up at 2pm and bum around the house tomorrow instead of doing something that I wouldn't enjoy.

On my way to the bank today, I think I saw my ex-Chem tuition teacher. Or a person that looked like her anyway.
In my sleepy state, blur me didn't notice anything that was happening around me and started stoning. Which is a hobby I think all Singaporeans, or rather Singaporean students indulge in.
Then I looked up and she smiled at me. At that point of time, I wasn't sure if it was her (probably coz I haven't seen her for months) so I just continued stoning.
On second thought, I think it was her. I bumped into her at the bank again and thought she looked real familar. And any normal stranger wouldn't go round smiling at other people for no reason right?
So now I feel kind of bad that I "dao-ed" her.
But of course it wasn't intentional.

My mom's blasting chirpy, la-la-la Chinese New Year songs now. -____-
Not in the CNY mood at all.
What with SATs looming ahead...
And I want to bake my cheesecake, but my mom's cleaning the kitchen floor.

I just had a humongous lunch; I wish I didn't eat so much. I hope I still have space for steamboat later. Sigh.

新年快乐 everyone. May we all have a happy, healthy year ahead.

First things first: I'm finally employed.

*cheers, streamers and confetti*

I'm so glad. At least I don't have to stare at trees now.
And Ade and Sandy are working in the area too, so I get lunch-kakis! :)
OK. Now I must work my butt off so I can start paying off all those horrendous debts, and also for transport fares (my mother has decided as of today, that she will not reimburse me money for transport) and other misc. stuff like bday presents, get-together dinners, etc.

CNY eve tomorrow. Steamboat reunion dinner! :)

I took this Colorgenics quiz: What's your true nationality?

"You are English to a tee, mate. You would feel most at home in the country of rolling hills and patchwork valleys, of the white cliffs of Dover, of craggly bluffs, wild countryside and withering heights and moors. A nice, warm corner pub on a cold wintry evening would make you feel right at home.

Your personality is also a match: Like many English, you value singularity—a lack of inclination to create bonds and acceptance of inherent conflicts among people. For you, a sense of rules is important; and you have a healthy respect for institutions, conventions and rules. You are prone to strong feelings of national pride and national identity to your country. Although pragmatic in day-to-day activities, you can fall quite easily into flights of fancy and idealism.

You are tenacious in the face of adversity and have a humor that is partial to ironic understatement and dry wit. You tend, either in modes of thinking or dress, to lean toward a hip eccentricity. You often have a hard time expressing your intimate feelings and you may, in fact, reject that kind of self-expression as “unseemly.” You don’t like to touch or hug people you don’t know very well.

London is your soul city—with its unique, cosmopolitan mix of young and old, hip avant-garde, working class bravado, age-old pageantry and new immigrant flavor. Visit it one day. You may not want to leave!"

I would like to go visit London too! Maybe when I'm rolling in gold.

Colorgenics has worked its magic again. What they said applied to my futile attempt at job searching.

I need some quizes to occupy me.

It was pouring.
Now the downpour has trickled to a light drizzle and I opened the windows.
Cool air gushed in. AHhhhh.
Natural air-conditioning. Perfect.
Have I said that I love such lovely weather?

Anyway, I finally bought my cheesecake ingredients so I can finally experiment on How Not To Make My Cheesecake Into Cheese Ice-Cream (which was what happened the other time I tried making a cheesecake).
Hahaha.

My mother says NO to the haircut.
She says that I hardly do anything to my hair since it's perpetually in a ponytail, so there's no point in trimming it.
I think all she wants is to save money.
We're not so broke till we can't afford a hair trimming session, right?

Annoyed.
Because my game has crashed twice and caused the computer to hang 5 minutes ago. Despite me hitting at the ctrl-alt-delete buttons repeatedly.
Until I finally switched off the power switch.

... ... ... !!!
My mother is humming a chirpy, happy song.
This is not a normal, everyday event, that's why I'm blogging about it.
I hardly hear my mother hum happily.
When she sings, she yodels to songs like 小微.

This weekend has been such a long-suffering one.
I've been so bored I've resorted to staring at trees.
Writing lengthy letters.
Watching water trickle from a tap.
And even working on my SATs (now you know I'm really bored).
I can't even tutor my cousin to keep myself occupied because she didn't do her homework. @_@ How can she improve if she doesn't even want to help herself?!?!
Yes I know, it sounds like what something a naggy teacher who gets on your nerves might say, but it's really true.
我觉得我的姑姑过度纵容她了.

I just finished watching Waterboys on Channel 8.
I watched the thing in Japanese despite not understanding a single word. Maybe just "Gambatte". Haha.
Of course there were subtitles. Haha.

Anyway, the bottom line is that I've been so bored this weekend. I'm looking forward to getting a haircut.
I'm even (sort of) looking forward to CNY. Darn. I don't like CNY. I only like the reunion dinner.

The job hunt continues tomorrow. Sigh.

Event of the day
I broke my Minesweeper high score!
37secs for the intermediate game. Hahaha.
I polished 3 seconds off my expert high score 3 days ago too.

I have lapsed into such a realm of boredom that I play Minesweeper and Spider Solitare to pass time.

More about my wonderful day.

It was Shuhui's birthday. So we baked a cake for her. Strawberry Cream Cake, to be precise.
I did a lot of whipping, with the help of Mabel's wonderful electric whipper. I whipped milk into cream, the sponge cake mixture and the so-called custard mixture.
Our sponge cake base was very successful.
Unfortunately, the custard was a total flop.
So ta-da! Brainwave. We decided to replace the custard with strawberry ice-cream.
Unfortunately, ice-cream melts. So we had to work fast.
It turned out rather nicely. Very good, in fact, for a first time attempt at making such a cake. You can view the cake under my German Gaassssy pictures.

So our Great Plan was to spring a surprise on the birthday girl at Shan's house. We hurriedly prepared the pasta and salad for dinner and our Great Plan commenced. After lots of phone calling to Ade and Sandy who were working with her, we lured her to Shan's house after work on the pretext that Sandy has to pick something up from Yuan Shan while we all went out and hid in the park nearby. When they were preparing to leave, we crouched outside the house and surprised her with a "cake" -- which was just whipped cream and paper confetti. Haha. The poor girl got creamed of course. And she was in nice work clothes. Hahaha.
Unfortunately the birthday girl wasn't as unsuspecting as we thought. She already knew that we were going to come up with some sort of surprise. Sigh.

We had a very enjoyable dinner. The pasta turned out to be quite nice, haha. And had some nice fruity wine. Lots of chattering, lots of laughter. It was the first time we've all congregated in the same room in 2 years. Terrible, ain't it? Everyone's so busy we can hardly get nine people to gather together all at the same time. Luckily Gillian could make it at the last minute, else we'll be missing someone yet again.
And of course, my much coveted 全家福. We've never taken a picture where everyone's face was in it. Haha. I'm so glad that ichee managed to take a 全家福 when we had the chance to.

I feel happy. :)

I'm delightfully happy that we managed to take a 全家福. After 2 long years.

OK. Speak of the devil.
I finally received my SATs posting letter.
And where am I posted to?
Singapore Expo.
BLEAH. Waking up at 6am is an extremely alien concept to me now. Waking up at 6am on 年初三?! To sit for a 3 hour boring test that I haven't even studied for?
Oh no.

My 2nd job interview went fairly smoothly. The lady who interviewed me was quite nice. The procedures were the same, fill up a form, then the question asking began. It was an IT company, so luckily I had the sense to add on that I like to surf the net and that I'm quite proficient in using the computer when asked for my interests. And then came the Test which required me to Think On My Feet.
I dislike thinking on my feet, mainly because I cannot process any logical thoughts when I'm panicking. I was never a very expressive person to begin with. The Test required me to stand in the meeting room and convince the lady why she should take up music as an interest. And my target audience was for little kids. Bleah. So I waved the marker around and started doodling on the whiteboard, coming up with a pathetic excuse for a mind-map. (should have paid attention more in Ms Kao's Year 1 GP classes.) I opened my mouth and started to speak. Rather incoherently, I may add. I was babbling on and on and my thoughts didn't flow because I had NO IDEA what to say. My mouth and my mind wouldn't exist hand-in-hand anymore; I became tongue-tied and suddenly I couldn't say "alternatively".
At least I didn't turn beet-root red (which has happened before).
I suddenly thought, maybe all those project work presentations were useful after all.

Anyway, my crapping skills must have been of some standard, because after my cringe-worthy performance, the lady said "very good" and looked somewhat impressed. Or maybe she just said that to humour me. But anyway, I really hope I get this job because a) it's near my house; b) the pay per hour is quite good; c) the job is quite slack, only 5 hours a day, plus it starts at 11am! So I can wake up later. Hahaha.
But of course, I'm thinking of getting another part-time job like cashiering or flipping burgers. On top of giving my cousin tuition. 5 hours a day would only amount to about $600 a month. Unless my pursuading abilities improve drastically and I can snag clients for them. Then I'll earn more.

I didn't leave my name at Yamaha in the end. Laziness got the better of me. But IF I get the job, I can leave my name there anytime. Plus I get the chance to go to the famous Punggol Nasi Lemak stall for lunch. That's the stall where they filmed Holland Village. Bwhahaha.

My sister is learning how to play the clarinet. Personally, I think that is Very Cool. I've always wanted to learn an woodwind instrument. But of course, it takes alot of practice to be able to even produce a solid, resonant note. Just like how I took a few lessons to learn how to play a G note on the open string. I tried blowing and all I got was... silence. Hahahaha. My sister was explaining some funny mouth and lower lip thing. Maybe I should just stick to strings and keyboard.

The stupid Sims keep crashing. Grrrr. I can't play the Tina Fabulous family. :(

I haven't received the letter regarding my SATs yet.
I'm supposed to receive it at least 2 weeks before the test date right?
I don't even know which centre I'm posted to.
Arrgh. Gotta remember to ring up the folks at the office to enquire about my missing letter. Bah.

Am swamped with potential jobs.
Happiness, happiness.
No, maybe not happiness. It should be a feeling of relief.
Relief at the fact that finally someone acknowledges my email. Out of a possible 20 odd that I've sent out.

I started off the day by waking up before 12 noon, for once. Got a phone call from someone who asked me if I would be interested in promoting subscriptions for newspapers at Yishun interchange.
Then down to the job agency I go. The lady was so much more helpful and informative than the previous one, even though they belong to the same company. I felt very unimportant and insignificant in the vast CBD area, where everyone was decked out in floral skirts and heels, ties and long-sleeved shirts, looking all pompous and busy. And there I was, in my jeans, wandering in and out of buildings, trying to find the lift. Hahaha.

Anyway, when I was on the train on my way to Dr. Nameless's house, I received a phone call from the lady at the job agency. She had some temp assignment for me this weekend, and I agreed to it, conveniently forgetting that I've had plans this Saturday and worse still, I was the one who painstakingly organized the dinner! Gah. In fact I only recalled that I was supposed to have dinner with the Gaassssy people when I got home. Oh no.
Anyway, she said it wasn't confirmed yet, so hopefully it got postponed or something. Or they'll all kill me if I fail to appear.
Plus I was supposed to give my cousin tuition this Saturday too. My scheduled is so screwed up.

And then, I got another phone call for a job interview! Yay! A potential employer!!! So there's an interview scheduled for tomorrow, plus I gotta deliver cookies to my relative AGAIN (I must claim commission from my mother!!!! AHHHH!!!) and I am meeting Ichee for dinner. And the company is near the Yamaha so I shall drop by and leave my name with them. So tomorrow's a busy busy day!

I've forgotten how busy days feel like. I've been rotting at home waaay too long.

I'm having fun downloading families from thesims.com and importing them into my neighbourhood. Hahaha. But anyway, the stupid game crashed on me at least 8 times yesterday. I wonder where I found the patience to sit through 8 reloads of the game. It's highly annoying to stare at the screen and wait for words to scroll across while the game loads. And the worse thing is that I FORGOT TO SAVE THE GAME!!! *screams*

OK. I shall go bathe now and then get my Sims time! Now that I can import familes, downtown and vacation lots, it doesn't seem that boring anymore. :D

Wish me luck for the interview tomorrow!

Here is what I plan to do tomorrow, or sometime soon. If I can drag my lazy and sorry excuse for a body up bright and early in the morning.

1. Go register at yet another job agency tomorrow.
2. Go to Yamaha and leave my name with them.
3. Go to Changi Road/Coleman Road for a possible chance of being employed. But I'm not very keen on this.
4. Remember to buy cheese.
5. Practice bass with Dr. Nameless.

If things work out well, tomorrow will be a busy day. Hah.

Anyway, my biological clock has decided that 3pm is the ideal time to wake up daily. So how? How to adjust it back to the normal "Morning starts at 9am, not 3pm!!!" cycle that everyone faithfully obeys?
I cannot think of any other way except to fly to America and stay there. I wouldn't even get jet-lag. Whee.

On the good side: I will be getting my first tuition pay later today!!! Yay!!! Hope my auntie remembers to pay me. :D

Right. I've just sent out my resume 13 times to 13 different companies/organizations, so the probability of at least one of them getting back to me should be pretty high right?

Right. I shall be patient. And wait. Wait. Wait.

I sent my phone for repairs. So now I'm stuck with my old, ugly purple phone which you can't purchase anywhere in this world now, I think.
The keypad sucks.
But at least I still have a semi-functioning phone. Better than no phone at all.

I have decided: the next thing I'm gonna do is to bake a cheesecake. I will go buy the cheese tomorrow.

I'm still pathetically bored.

Delivered cookies to one of my many cousins today. It took me only 2 hours.

I woke up at 3pm, ate lunch, went out, came back, watched Wheel Of Fortune on TV, and then came online.

Oh what a fantastic and interesting life I lead.

Darn. I forgot about the walk-in interview at some hotel every Thursday. Think it's Fullerton.

Very overdue: The Friday Five.

What one thing are you most looking forward to . . .
1. ...today?

Getting out of the house 14 hours later. Even if it is to deliver cookies to my relative.

2. ...over the next week?
Waiting for a phone call from a prospective employer/the job agency. Or meeting up with friends. If they manage to find time, that is. And my first tuition payment!

3. ...this year?
Start earning money. Get a job. Getting into University.

4. ...over the next five years?
Learning driving. Doing things that I would have never thought possible.

5. ...for the rest of your life?
Retiring peacefully and rich. And then dying in my sleep. And NO KIDS.

Oh have I mentioned. I lost one half of my smiley face earrings. Boohoohoo. MY SMILEY FACE EARRINGS!!! DOWN THE SINK!!! :(

Discovery of the week:
- I cannot fit in size 27 pants.
- I can barely squeeze myself into size 28 pants.
- Even size 29 pants feel tight.

OK. So with that not-so-astonishing relevation, this is what I will do to achieve that Slimmer Waistline.
I will:
- Do 30 sit-ups everyday before I sleep.
- Eat lunch and breakfast as a meal so that my intake of calories will be lower.
- Try not to pig out so much. Of course, there's absolutely no food at home, with the possible exception of plain water, so that shouldn't be too hard.
- Try and plan my schedule such that all major events can be celebrated on one day. Then I don't have to spend money on so many meals and at the same time, my stomach can breathe easier.

A sudden surge of bimbotism here for you.

I'm bored. So I am about to embark on a lengthy description of my journey to the library today. It's extremely inconsequential but I'm bored. I advice you not to read.

I went to Compass Point with the purpose of a) returning my overdue book and b) getting a photo album. So I climbed up 2 flights of steps to the LRT station and realized that I was getting terribly unfit. The training at NJ, the fortress of steps, didn't do me much good. I missed the train. As usual. Then I went to Popular in hope of getting a photo album for my prom photos.

I wandered around the vast area. Finally found the section where they displayed the photo albums. I saw one that I liked, but it was somewhat mutilated and I figured that there was no point in spending $6 to get an album that's spoilt. I saw another self-adhesive type of albums, which I wanted to get because the size was just right and I can use it to stick my collection of ticket stubs, but then after pondering long and hard, I decided to save the $4 for another day. Besides, I searched the entire display compartment and I couldn't find one that wasn't battered or spoilt. So I finally settled another for one that looks fine, but upon close inspection in the queue, I realized that there was a dead fly's imprint on it. Shudder. But I was already halfway through the queue and I figured that it would be pointless to forsake my place in the queue and go and get a better one. Besides, the one that I chose was already as good as it could get.

The queue at the cashier was horrendously long. I thought they might need some help during this season and contemplated whether I should go get a job at Popular, but then I decided against it. Who knows, I might even make the queue even longer due to my inefficiency. Hur hur.

Oh and I saw a Pri school classmate of mine working in The Scent Shop. Obviously she didn't recognize me. Nobody recognizes me nowadays.

I wanted an adhesive photo album, so I wandered in to Hallmark and bleurgh, they don't have any. Besides, the stuff there was way out of my price range.

Returned my library book, paid my fine, and borrowed more books. Then I went to Watsons to see whether they sold photo albums. They sell marshmellows, makeup, sanitary napkins, suitcases, but no photo albums. I walked past Kiddy Palace. Thought for a while, then decided that they don't stock photo albums.

I took the LRT home. Felt hungry. Saw a stray cat sitting at my void deck. Suddenly stray cats reminded me of the GP paper and the GP paper reminded me of the lousy AQ that I submitted. Blerugh. Not good.

When you're bored, you start thinking of alot of things to occupy your brain with. When I was using my brains back then in school, my journeys to and fro were spent sleeping or stoning. To rest my mind. Now, I just wonder and think of what I should write in my next blog entry, think of anything that seemed out of place, think of anything under the sun.

Heard from my sis that a ballet pianist gets $10/hr. Hey, maybe I should go ask around for anything that's remotely related. Considering that time and effort that you spend at the piano, the money you wasted taking examinations, $10/hr is quite a reasonable amount. Plus it'll be something that I'll enjoy doing.
Hai my last resort is to go to Yamaha to teach music. Right. I hate dealing with bratty kids.

Well at least I can console myself and say that hey, actually I'm employed (if I were to close an eye). By my auntie. To give my cousin tution.

I cannot remember what else I wanted to say. My mind is horribly scattered and unorganized. If you've managed to last through this boring entry without a yawn, I pity you. You must have been as bored as I am.

See what amusement park ride you are.

See what Care Bear you are.

The results reflect how my lifestyle is like nowadays. Jobless, sleeping late, (in fact I just woke up after 12 hours of restful sleep) and not doing anything useful.
Almost everyone I know is happily (or unhappily) employed, or schooling, so I can't find anyone available to spend time with. Bleah.
It's bumming around at home for me, checking jobstreet.com or asiaone.com (I hate that site btw) or jobhub.com periodically.
I'm even bored enough to watch all the American Idol 2 audition clips that I downloaded last year. Yes, yes. I am that bored. There are no TV shows to watch. I've run out of things to do on my To Do list.
Speaking of which, AMI3 will be returning sometime this month! Whoopee.

So about the job interview; it went rather smoothly, not as bad as I expected. The only time when I paused and showed a moment of hesitation was when the interviewer (who shares the same name as my mother) asked, "How would your friends describe you?" So I paused and my rusty gears started whirling. Think, think.
Words like slacker, corny, stupid, sleepy, happy, bubbly and blah blah came to mind.
But of course, I couldn't say that.
"Uh, I guess they would say that I'm responsible and reliable."
-____-"

I then proceeded to tackle questions like "Would you say you are an introvert or an extrovert?"
Introvert immediately came to mind, but I figured that it won't hurt if I stretch the truth a little.
"I would say that I'm somewhere in between. I like to go out and have fun with my friends, but at the same time, if it's time for me to do work, I'll work."
Haha.

And then came "So tell me a little bit more about yourself."
I can't think of anything remotely interesting to say about myself, so I replied with the usual reply -- "Oh, I play the piano." And as an afterthought, to make myself seem more interesting, I added, "And the cello too."
The interviewer seemed nonplussed. "Oh, so you're quite musical."
I gave a smile and a nod.

And then horrors, horrors. "What stream are you in?"
"You mean in JC? I'm in the Science stream."
"Oh, so do you like Science? What's your favourite subject?"
Pause. Pause. Think!!!
"I think it would be Chemistry." Save my soul. (I chose it coz it was the subject which I scored a D in the prelims, as opposed to the Es.)
"Oh, really? What about Maths?"
"Yeah, my Maths is... quite okay."
Nod. Smile. Smile.

There was another lady before her, the one who called me up. She asked me about my PSLE scores -- "Oh, so high ah? How do you study for it?"
I figured that she had a schooling kid who was about to take his/her PSLE soon, so I gave a very bleah and cliche answer.
"Oh, just constant revision I guess."
"Oh, just constant revision issit?"
Smile. Nod. Nod.

Then she asked what Primary school I was from -- "Oh, it's just down the road." -- and whether I was the eldest in the family -- "Wah, such a big age gap ah?" which is practically what everyone says when I tell them that I have an obnoxious, cranky, irritating lil' sis (of course, not using those adjectives) that is 13 years younger than me.
"She must be very cute."
I beg to differ, so I tried to put it across as nicely as possible.
"Not really, she can be quite naughty at times."

And then she asked me thrice whether I had any previous working experience. No, no and still no. I guess the "No working experience" bit justifies the measly pay and long working hours. And I must be proficient in Microsoft Excel. Which I am not, obviously. Tabulations and spreadsheets are not my cup of tea. But I will only worry about that when they tell me that I'm employed.

I left home, went through the interview, and got home all in 1.5hours. Yay. Of course, if I stayed in my old house it'll be much faster, because the workplace is only 4 or 5 bus stops away, but now 62 takes an awfully long detour and travels sooo slowly. And the bus stop is miles away from my house. To save money on transport costs, I walk to the bus stop. I wore shoes that were too big for me yesterday and had a hard time running to the bus stop when the bus was approaching.
But then again, I spent less than 2 minutes waiting for buses yesterday (surprise, surprise), so the 1.5hours gauge is not to be taken seriously.

Pardon the long entry. Ever since Blogger/Singnet Broadband/whichever screwed up, causing me to face the problem of being unable to access Blogspot sites, I've had no mood to blog.

Anyway, I came across something which I feel should be my new motto for the year. Strangers are just friends that you haven't met.
I shall try to be less of a peoplephobe.

After waiting for so long, after about 10 or 20 applications submitted online, after a few phone calls, I finally got a call from a potential employer!!!

Now, I'm feeling nervous and jittery. Maybe it's the effects of the medicine.
I don't know what to expect at the interview at 10am tomorrow -- I suck at this type of things. Arrrggghhhhh. Hope I don't screw up. And that I'll be eloquent yet give sensible answers.

Nervous, nervous.

Someone! Give me a crash course on how to tackle interviews!!! :(

Futile job search.

Pretty much summed up how my day went.

So I went to register with this job agency to increase my chances of getting a job, and popped by Suntec to watch the VJ year 1s dancing their mass dances around the Fountain of Wealth as part of their orientation ritual.

Yeah, that, and also the fact that I can't access any Blogger sites. And my broadband connection likes to play tricks on me.

Another aimless day has gone by.
My life is boring and Blah.

Something's wrong with Blogger, because everytime I try to access any blogspot pages it'll redirect me to the Blogger main page. Hmmm.

On the job search front, it's not going too well because I've not heard from any companies that I submitted applications to.
And there really is a demand for accountants, because I came across lots of jobs for accounting positions.
Maybe I should take that up in University. But the downside would be that I would have to undergo some sort of Econs-related course, and that is bad. I have resolutely refused to take Econs ever again in my life.
I still have no idea what I want to do with my life, what I want to do in the future, what courses I want to take in University, what faculty I should join, blah blah blah. All with the pretext of me being able to get into a University in the first place, of course.

Yes I need a goal, some sort of direction in my life!
I have yet to figure out where my passion truly lies.
Or perhaps I have no passion at all.
Passion-less?

Oh well.

I was reading letters exchanged between me and my sister today. It was highly amusing, because we were such young, ignorant and immature kids then. What transpired between us were just complaints about how our parents were so unreasonable and blah. And then I was sorting through Christmas cards, birthday cards, letters from old friends, letters that reminded me of bad times... yada yada. Imagine the amount of paper we've wasted just by writing for the sake of writing. Hmmm.

Heard that NJ is renovating it's track, and when I saw the school in the news on Friday (my lil' sister hollered at me to watch it, coz she could recognize the uniform I think) because of the IP thing, I saw that the classrooms were painted blue. Eh?!?! Maybe I should go back one day and witness what drastic changes they've made to the school.

No, I do not miss the school as much as I was homesick for St. Nicks and it's lovely homely warmth, after all it can only be described as a cold, stand-offish building at best, but I guess I do miss something about NJ. Can't figure out what it is. Is it being a student (and not having to pay adult transport fares) all over again? Is it the String Orch room where I've spent countless free periods there sleeping? Is it the comfortable routine that I've settled into during the 2 years there? Is it the teachers? (I don't think so) Is it the fact that I get to meet my friends everyday? Now that, is something that we all took for granted. Hmmm.
12 years of living the student life, of countless exams, of many all-nighters to feverishly prepare for the big exam the next day, and somehow when you recall how you started the journey as a student, all you remember is this big P5 sister holding your hand and leading you down to the canteen, asking you if you know what your form teacher's name was because it had three syllables.

I'm off to lead my life aimlessly (think amoeba and the likes, drifting around). One day at a time, an hour at a time. Twiddle-dee, twiddle-dum.

I borrowed The Complete Idiot's Guide to The Perfect Resume and I tried writing my own resume just now. Having no job experience and what-so-ever, I can't think of anything suitable to write.
So obviously I crapped something nice-sounding like "Fluent and proficient in both English and Mandarin" and "Competent typist". Hahaha.
Which reminds me, I gotta buy The Straits Times and start searching for jobs. It's the new year, it's January, and I'm still unemployed. Maybe I should go flip burgers. Hai.

Gotta go see the doctor for my disgusting cough and will develop my prom photos on the way there. Yay.
My sis's starting a new year in VJC, haha wonder how it turned out. I can still remember the time I first stepped into NJ. Felt so unfamiliar with everything and everyone.

Ahhh gonna print out my resume! :) And then tuition later. -__-

The steamboat reunion lunch thing was fun. And there was A LOT of food, think we over-bought. Of course, I ate till I was bloated (as usual). Then we had some fun watching VCDs, playing bridge and mahjong, and oooh-ing over Scruffy. :)

The stayover-cum-countdown thing at Sandy's house was fun too. Ooohed over her baby niece, and watched The Two Towers DVD extended version (yes Aragorn!), and then prepared dinner. Dinner was a rather enjoyable meal of pizza, potato wedges, chicken, and yummy salad. Before you think we're all master-chefs in the making, almost all the food were frozen food, so we just pop them into the oven and they're ready for consumption. Haha. Fuss-free, edible, and quite tasty too. :)
Uploading pictures of us messing about in the kitchen now. Undoubtedly trying to be more domesticated, but failing at it. Hahaha.
Then we played Cluedo! I'm getting quite good at this game, hahaha.
Countdown while watching the Sentosa Countdown on TV, then watched Pirates of the Caribbean on DVD. I thought Johnny Depp played a serious role in the movie, but I didn't expect him to be so flamboyant, complete with thick eyeshadow and eyeliner. Hahaha. But I didn't really understand the movie. Almost dozed off in the middle of the show.

Fun way to bring in the New Year. Usually my New Years and New Year eves are very boring, but this year is different! And I shall look forward to leading a year that is full of excitement and fun!!!
Fun fun fun!!!

Haha I shall check the thesaurus for more synonyms to "Fun". Shall widen my vocab bank.

I am unhappy about Adult-priced transport fares.
It's so expensive!!! A journey home from Bukit Gombak to Sengkang costs about $2.67 and that's a hefty sum of money. Especially if it's spent on transport.
I miss the concession prices that students get to enjoy!!!
Ah, the perils of not being a student anymore.
Student life is better, even though we have to endure 12 long years of studying.
But we do get certain advantages, namely, concession prices while travelling on public transport!!!
