I'm using my uncle's computer now. At my grandma's house.
Viewed my page using another computer, and it looks fine. :) Will anyone with a 800 X 600 configuration tell me if it looks fine too?
I think the date header looks quite ugly but I can't be bothered to do anything about it now. Haha.
Quite boring here actually. Nothing much to do. I brought my Winnie The Pooh cross stitch but I haven't got about doing it yet. I've only done a fraction of Eeyore's legs so far. Haha.
The letterings on the cross stitch says "Best Friends Forever". Once upon a time, the 12-year-old me didn't believe in the concept of "Best Friends Forever". It seemed ridiculous to me that people actually rank their friends. Like, "Best friends", then "Good friends", then "Friends" and "OK friends" that sorta thing. It was even more ridiculous to have people listing their friends from 1 to 10 in those pretty flowered books that everyone was passing around to write in when we were graduation. I never bothered to write down who my "Best friends" or "Good friends" or what not were. If they were my good friends, they knew it. There's no need to record it down in some book so that you can be reminded of it. For other not so close friends, to me, these friendships wouldn't last forever. I mean,
My nosy cousin just peeped over my shoulder to see what I was typing. I hate it when people do that. Grr.
Anyway, as I was saying, 10 years from now, how many can actually remember that such and such a girl was your classmate in Primary school and so and so sat next to you? I have first hand experience of that. You don't even need 10 years for people to forget that you once entered their lives. Now, when I the rare occasion comes and I recognize one of those classmates back then I don't bother to say hi. Because I'm quite sure that 80% of the time they won't recognize me or they won't remember me. I was standing less than a 5m radius away, but maybe I don't look like the girl back then in P6, with the short hair and black hairband. How many of those whom they termed you as your Good Friend back then would remember you now? Actually, I do remember my classmates because I take the effort to. I send my closer friends the occasional birthday and christmas card. But the others are not even aquaintances now, they're more like strangers.
So you ask, do I still believe in the concept of "Best Friends Forever"? *shrug* Maybe I do. But it's hard to tell.
Then again, maybe I don't.
Whew. Well finally, after slogging with the HTML this is my finished product. :) It's a little too orange-y haha, but I don't care. There're imperfections here and there but overall I think it's a not bad an effort. Haha. Considering that all my resources were in the old computer and I had to go round looking for codes and stuff. Cleared all the dead links, I never knew all those previously under the "Part of" section were bad links. Haha. Tables on the right look somewhat familiar? I think I did something like that last year, but zero creativity + no resources = lousy layout. Haha. Hope inspiration comes quickly, so I can make another layout. :)
Like the picture? It's taken by a lousy digital camera, but that little purple thing is my favourite toy, called Grimace. From MacDonalds! Haha. So cute. :)

You are not a writer. Maybe you should take up some
other field--like photography or painting or
such? Cuz it seems you really weren't meant for
the literary world.....
...Oh well. C'est la vie, right? We all have our
weak points. Maybe writing's yours, eh?
What's YOUR Writing Style?

I was looking through my photos just now, I have a few albums of miscellanous photos and was scrutinizing every one of them, because every photo has a certain memory attached to it. Primary school photos were just that handful few, friendships fostered back then weren't very strong. I looked rather geeky and staid. Haha. Then Secondary school pictures were usually taken with Gillian and Angie, back then in Sec 2 we looked so young and er well, just younger. Amazing what a few years can do to your looks. Or maybe it's because of this taxing system that we are in. JC photos are of a considerable number, considering that I've only been there for 1 year plus. I wonder if friendships in JC will be as strong as those in fostered in Secondary school. Or is it simply because a group of people come together under certain circumstances and enjoy each other's company as they are not able to be together with their closest friends? Then after we graduate, the friendships dwindle to just merely of a "hi-bye" type?
Despite the outbreak of the SARS virus, I still went out today. To Pasir Ris for the er, chalet, if you could call it one, to cycle and also to town. Pasir Ris park was quite deserted, I could cycle so happily down the path without having to worry about colliding into pedestrians or other cyclists, unlike any other time when I was there cycling. Cycled all the way from one end to the other, was quite enjoying myself. Hope I managed to burn a few calories. It's such a, well, destressing activity. I should do that more often. The feel of the wind, the air, the feel of just cruising by your surroundings...
And perhaps I'm just digging my own grave. There's so much apprehension in the air nowadays that some of my friends are barred from going out for the whole of 10 days. Woah. I don't think I will be able to do that. There's nothing much to do at home besides using the computer and I have to queue for my turn at the com. And of course the TV, but sometimes there aren't any nice shows on TV. Studying is not on top of my list now. I need to go out or I'll just spend my whole life bumming away at home. So I met my friends at Orchard and we had dinner. At least I was able to act like my silly, crazy self. I was amusing and entertaining my friends at HMV, making silly noises and being the "backup singer" for some MTV played on the TV screens there. No more academic baggage (weird term, but who cares), no care in the world, most importantly we should have fun. Yeah. And I noticed that Orchard was much much less crowded than usual. Well that's good. I didn't come into any contact with any sneezing person or coughing person, the only close resemblance was my friend who had a blocked nose and mispronounced all her "m"s. Haha. So I think I'm safe.
Brain-numbing activites are always good. At least you don't have to think.

Ulcers.
Bother. I abhor them.
What causes ulcers to form anyway? Not enough sleep? I always suffer from mouth ulcers. :(
Anyway, do you know that there are eye ulcers also? And you have to inject stuff into your eye to cure it. How disgusting. The idea of inserting some unidentifiable object into your eye does not appeal to me. I shall never get contacts. My eye works on instinct, whenever my finger goes near it it'll close. Same for eyedrops and other stuff that may get into contact with your eye. Eeks. *shudder* The eye is a sensitive issue. Contacts are so disgusting. Poor, poor eye. To think that I was pondering whether contacts are a viable option since there's this "get 3 months supply of disposable contact lenses free" thing. Anyway, spectacles are good. Convenient. Doesn't require you to force your eye open to stick some plastic thing in it. I can live without perfect vision. Haha.
Can you sense that I'm anti-contact lenses? Haha.
Washing clothes is such a chore. I've been scrubbing a seemingly infinite number of socks and wringing clothes dry until my hands feel like it's been wrung thoroughly. Urgh.
It's a wonder I'm not half asleep in front of the computer considering that I only slept for a few miserable hours the previous night.
Tata. Off to lalaland.

I'm too tired to exclaim over the ending of Common Tests (finally! I'm getting so sick of studying) and to rejoice over the fact that we have the whole of next week off from school. Anyway, Thursday and Friday was originally a holiday for me, because I didn't have papers on these two days. Makes no difference now that they announced that school is closed. It seems quite weird that the whole schooling population in Singapore is going to be at home these few days also.
OK. Yay Common Tests are FINALLY over!!! *throws confetti into the air*
Somehow I felt that I should just rejoice a bit. You know, exclaim a little, act a little more dramatic? That's the whole point of blogging. To over-dramatise your plain, boring and otherwise mundane life so that people won't fall asleep while reading. Haha.
I feel tired even typing that out. *yawn*
Survived on only 2 hours of sleep. Have to go and wash clothes soon. I feel like I haven't gotten enough of the computer. I want to play the Sims. CTs are over! I didn't even get to celebrate and here we are, a quarantine imposed on everyone. -_- Ironically today in school me and my friend, we were saying that they should give us an extra week of holidays to make up for our "loss" during the one week March break, because it's all wasted on studying. And strangely enough, it came true. Hahaha. One of the few lucky times when you wish for something and it actually came true.
I had so much plans, all the post-CTs activities to destress myself (my sister found a strand of white hair growing from my raven black locks, haha. Signs of stress!!!) and now there's so much apprehension and danger in the air (literally and figuratively, I guess) that going out is now dangerous. 2 have died from SARS. And who knows how many more? *shrug*
I admit, I'm a living example of the apathetic teenager.
Next week's Bachelor looks extremely entertaining. Saw the trailers today. Watch out for more saliva-swapping, jealous whispers and broken-into-smithereens hearts. Ah. Reality TV. That's why we all like it. :)
Oh and I was watching First Touch today. (for lack of a social life, it is replaced by lots of TV watching) So sad. Goodness. *weep*
Aaaand... I think I will fail Econs and Chem. Sigh. I forsee something like FFE when they return us our scripts.
Another anecdote that I found mildly amusing: My friend in VJ was complaining that she failed her econs. 30%. F grade. Hm. So our conversation went on about her lousy grades and I told her that at least the other people who failed only got like, 3 or 4% marks higher than her? Then she said O was a failing grade too, like, hello? And I suddenly realized that I totally forgot that O was a failing grade!!! Hahaha... I'm too accustomed to getting Fs until I'm wired such that I think that the next grade is a passing grade. hahaha. See the extent of my academic results. Tsk. Which means I have to pull my Fs up two grades in order to pass. Great.
I dunno why, but once I started typing suddenly a lot of thoughts just came out. I don't feel as tired anymore. In fact I have lots that I want to say. It's like my butt is glued to the chair when I should have been doing something else more constructive (but not necessarily more enjoyable) like er, washing clothes? When parents are away, you realize that there's alot of things that usually you take for granted. Sigh.
Depression. One of my good friends has depression in Sec 3 but at that point of time, we weren't that close yet. But now because of stress from Common Tests, (capital C and capital T) her depression is coming back all over again. Frankly, I think that she brought it upon herself coz she takes things too hard. She puts on additional stress on herself. I see her mugging everyday, rushing back home in a cab from school so that she can reach home earlier to mug. But who am I to critisise? I don't understand depression and probably never will, unless I myself am depressed.
Depressed is such an overused word. Tsk.
I better go about doing my stuff else I won't be able to wake up tomorrow. Going cycling. In need of some wind and leg muscles.
I love the wind. :)

My friend said that she would call at 2.30 and teach me how to do Maths, but I think she overslept. Haha. I think only me and my friend have weird ways of doing things, like calling each other in the middle of the night. Of course, it helps that her parents are abroad and er, I think my parents will be too sound asleep to hear anything.
Like, anyone knows how to do Differentiation on Maxima and minima problems? Maclaurin's Series? Numerical Methods? First Order Differential Equations? Integration!!! AhhhH!!!! I need your services.
I still can't do N97/P1/14a. :(

Random-ness
i. I am sucking on a fruit-flavoured Mentos sweet now.
ii. Ugh! I haven't finished all the chocolates from V-day! All the calories...
iii. I shall watch American Idol and the Bachelor. Clay Aiken sings pretty well. And the Bachelor is rather entertaining. Haha.
iv. Oh, the posting results came out today! Hope I'll get a cello junior. Please let us have a succeedor!!! (did I spell that correctly?)
v. I am muchly amused by the tittle, The Crutch and the Wheelchair. Ah, the eptitome of lame-ness.
vi. Being lame is an integral part of my life! I love lame-ness!!! Whoopee-doo-da!!!!
vii. T-minus-1.5-days and counting -- to common tests.
viii. Broadband is such a lovable thing. We should have gotton it sooner.
ix. I shall master the art of making edible and nice spaghetti, er, soon.
x. I don't know what else to write.
There you are. 10 random points from a very bored girl. :)

Ho-hum. :)
Mug mug mug mug mug mug mug - This is what I did today: NOT!!!!
Anyway, I think my biological clock has gone haywire (wait, it was already haywire to begin with) so I shall sleep at 5am today and study Maths and Chem all the way.
So weird. Econs (not including GP) is my first subject tested, and I'm focusing more on Maths and Chem. Haha. Maybe I should have just dropped Econs.
WHY must they have common tests immediately after the hols? Bah. After June Hols, we have a common test. After September hols, we have prelims. :( Folks like us can't enjoy our holidays. Sigh.
I should go swimming more often. And cycling. These are like the only sports that I can say I enjoy. After all, I'm the Vice-president of the "Sit-and-Rest" club whose motto is "We stink at Sports" and we take every opportunity during PE to slack. I have a reputation to uphold. Ahem.
Maybe I should go and take part in triathlons. Haha. They have swimming, cycling and jogging. I think I can't deal with the 10km jog and I don't have enough stamina to do all three exercises at one shot, so I think they should invent mini-triathlons for slackers like me. Then I can be healthy and fit and at the same time, I don't faint and die trying to run 10km.
Anyone watched Ms Singapore Universe? I think beauty paegents in Singapore don't exactly work, because Singapore girls don't really have brains and beauty. (Yes, I'm a living example) It's rare to find both aspects in an individual. Anyway, I don't think they are very eloquent. Haha. Not that I have superb speech skills anyway, but still.
Happy birthday to my sister. :) Hee, hope you enjoy your nice and sweet 16th year on earth (despite having the O levels, which I know is extremely sucky. But A levels are suckier. Hah).

Everyone seems to be talking about war now. Hot topic, the war between Iraq and the US.
Actually, I didn't even know what was going on with Bush and Saddam Hussein until yesterday morning before the war started, my friend explained the conflict between them to me. Was never very interested in these sort of news. Politics are boring. That's why, I guess, they say that youths today are apathetic.
Very sleepy now. Had rehearsal this morning and I'm halfway through Bonding so that's good news I suppose. Must start on Maths and Econs soon.
On Monday my parents and baby sister get to go for a chalet. My father booked the chalet during the school term. -_- Obviously me and my sis can't go because of school. Gah. And particularly me, since I have common tests.
My mother doesn't even know that I have common tests coming up this Monday. Or else she'll be nagging at me everyday to study, study, study. Bah. Wish life didn't just consist of studying.
Had a nice time yesterday, it was nice to see my friends, and I think we should all meet up more often. Nice. But extremely unforgiving on my wallet. The amount of money I have now is probably in negative numbers. :(
Going to study Chem. I can sort of predict that I will fall asleep within half an hour.

Haven't bathed yet. Dirty girl.
Studied two chapters of Chemistry. Learnt all about Ionic Bonds on the way home on the bus just now. It was another late Wednesday rehearsal. He let us off an hour earlier though. But I was waiting so long for the bus in the end I think it made no difference.
Can't describe the feeling when we had to play Brandenburg today. I think I was the only one with an accelerated heartbeat and possibly trembling fingers. I don't know whether my fingers trembled on their own accord or perhaps it's because I was vibrato-ing. The conductor started much much faster than the speed that I practiced. Just panicked and couldn't play well. Had to take deep breaths to calm myself down and I was hoping that he wouldn't make us play by section so that my mistakes and lack of technique won't be so glaringly obvious. Very very tense during rehearsal, especially while we were rehearsing the Bach. Very stressed. Wished that I wouldn't feel so stressed when the conductor is here, standing in front of me with his baton. For one, I practiced. I know I can play, although not perfectly flawless, but at least I learnt my notes. Maybe it's the atmosphere or the fact that practically everyone can play so well. Of us three cellos and bass, I think I'm the worst. Sandy didn't even practice and she can play so well. Shuhui has better musical sense than me. Oh dear. Or maybe it's just psychological. How am I going to go into SYF if I always stress before playing in front of the conductor, I really don't know.
I must learn to have more confidence in myself.
Note to self: Work on all those messy crossing-strings, better right-hand and left-hand coordination (somehow my right hand will run faster than my left) and practice those running semiquavers faster.
Had a sort of prep talk given by our concermaster/vice-president today. He spoke about alot of things, which I agree, and some things which I'm guilty of. He says we have to really pia and slog like oxen these 5 weeks and step into the Nanyang Auditorium and give it our best shot. Hopefully we bag the gold, but as long as we know we did our best, I think that's all that matters. He says that we are the underdogs. The black horses. We can't disappoint when the school invested so much in us.
Somehow I just hope we don't manage to disgrace ourselves (or rather, myself) on stage. I can just imagine myself turning as red as a tomato and fumbling over the simplest things and not concentrating. Today I played like a zillion wrong notes because I wasn't concentrating. Even with Mozart, which is undoubtbly much simpler than Bach, and the important thing is that I can play it well. Mustn't get complacent though.
One thing that I don't like about myself, is that I turn extremely red when I'm embarrassed. Or when I have to play in front of an audience, and I don't play well. Somehow the blood just creeps up to my face and my face will be one shiny red tomato. Marvellous. In Sec 2, I had to play the cello alone in front of everyone during Orientation, and I just became a shiny red tomato. To this date, Sandy never fails to remind me of it when I turn red.
Gotta go. My mom is nagging at me to bathe. :(

I just attempted to make myself a plate of spaghetti for lunch.
It was edible, at least better than previous attempts which included tasteless, rubbery spaghetti and watery sauce. I'm not much of a cook, anyway. But there were bits of carbon flecks in the noodles because I didn't have enough sense to put oil in the pot when trying to cook the meat. Other than that, the spaghetti noodles itself was rather nice, if I do say so myself. :)
The next time when somebody teaches me how to cook spaghetti, I shall write down every single instruction.
There's a layer of dust on my piano.

It's the hols, in case you haven't realized.
One week of study break, however the point is that you haven't started yet. All you did was to write out all the topics that you have to cover. That's all.
Really, you are going to sink into a bottomless pit and survive the whole thing in the end, but end up regretting because you didn't put in enough effort to haul yourself out of the pit.
You must start studying. START STUDYING!!!
It doesn't help that you have to go back to school thrice this week for CCA. -growl-
Doesn't help that Thursday might be another day wasted because you weren't firm enough to insist that you need to study instead of going out.
It's all your fault, really. You know that.
Since the day of the NUS open house, you've been considering what courses to take in the university. Presuming that you manage to get decent grades that will enable you to get into NUS, that is. The School of Computing is an option, and also maybe the Chemistry course in the School of Science. You were interested in taking Pharmacy but you don't have biology as one of your prerequsites. If all else fails, there's always the Singapore Conservatory of Music. Haha. With your awkward subject combi, it's no wonder that there aren't many choices for you. Nothing in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences interest you, which is a pity, since you decided that you wouldn't want to enter Science faculties anymore and stated that you wanted to do Arts a few years back. Oh whatever. What will be will be. If only your mother understands that and stops asking you about what you want to be/do/study in the future. Anyway, entering university is such a scary concept.
Sometimes you wonder whether you are the go-with-the-flow type or the I-have-my-own-opinion-and-will-not-change-it type.

Yay! Yay! It works! :) The blog shalt remain here until further notice. (It'll probably remain here permanently coz I'm fed-up with all those lousy hosting sites.)
Food and fun fair at St. Nicks today, it was so damn crowded I was literally stuck in a human traffic jam. Had lots to eat, that's why I'm still so full now despite the fact that it's already 8.42PM and I haven't had my dinner yet. It'll be more enjoyable if the whole school wasn't choke-full with people though.
Also, went for NUS's open house. Didn't manage to find out what I already didn't know. Met a senior there, and she exclaimed, "What are you all doing here? I didn't even come last year... you're only in J2 what!" Well we may not be incoming freshmen, but we are most certainly stalewomen. (that was lame)
Met like a dozen people that I knew, and lots of people in school that I knew by sight but not by name. Also saw a grand total of 4.5 primary sch friends (the 0.5 being one where I wasn't sure whether I recognized the right person) and all of them I haven't seen in like, at least 5 years?! I meet more of them in a single day than in the whole entire year. And it seems like the whole class is congregated in VJC. And it's so sad, I must have been too insignificant for them to remember because I had to jolt their memories a bit for them to recall my name or either that, they didn't even notice me at all. Sigh.
Gotta eat Chicken rice. I love the chicken rice from this stall but somehow I'm not hungry. Maybe by looking at the food it'll whet my appetite a bit. :)

Hmm... having a nice mini-feast at home now, gobbling down sushi, prawn nuggets from Old Chang Kee and Polka Green Tea...
Nice lunch. :)
Have to watch what I'm eating though, spending too much money and eating too much spells b-a-d for my weight and wallet. Sigh.
Still rather unused to the keyboard, especially the delete button and the backspace button. But I love my computer!!! :)
Darn why doesn't blogger show up my posts?! :( -sulk-

Msging my senior now. Wow he got AABB for his A levels... Well I hope that I can get a fraction of what he gets next year. Sigh. It's been an amusing chat. Well what can I say? Certain girls get it all. Apparently if you are pretty you even get noticed in a photo and you get ppl asking each other whether she is attached. (no I'm not talking about myself, me pretty -- not.) I'm extremely unused to this keyboard, with the wrist rest thingee and the too-small backspace button and the too high-up delete button... sigh. Oh no now I have to go gather all my ICQ contacts and webpages bookmarks from my old computer. :( So much work to do. :(
