I love this picture! So cool right? But I look a little misplaced though. Hahahaha. :D

A summary of my days of absence:

i. I have finally received my NUS letter! (Or have I already blogged about this? Oh the previous one was finding out online so it doesn't count.)
ii. I am going to FASS. I hope it's the right choice. 0_0
iii. I'm back from the cruise (obviously) and I would say that it went rather well. Considering the circumstances.
iv. I went to my sister's band concert!
v. I can't seem to upload pictures!
vi. I haven't watched the results show of American Idol 3 and yes, that means I don't know who won as of now. Don't blabber away and spoil my suspense.
Considering the abundance of media around me, I think it's quite miraculous that I haven't stumbled upon any telling newspaper/blog/magazine/TV mobile etc. Of course, I have been avoiding them at all costs. Hahahaha.

OK end of summary.

I need to take a smiley photo of myself and then go to NUS to submit Form A and pay up $500. Ooooohhh my money. :(

Question in a quiz: "I see friendships as alliances which increase my sense of security."

Hurh.
Jolted me for a while because after all that bitching I am forced to think whether or not it applies to me.
And sadly, I ticked the "Rather accurate" box.

I sigh in consternation.

Following dear Mama's advice, I checked my application status at the NUS website and HOORAY! I was offered my first 2 choices, which are Computing and Arts & Social Science respectively.

OK, so I'm definitely not going to NTU.
Bye bye $100.
Now I need to decide between these two courses. :)
I'm relieved. Whew.
:) :) :) :) :)

Actually I really wanted Mass Comm but NTU didn't want me. :(

Watched Laws of Attractions today. I have so many movies that I want to watch! OK I suppose it's because I haven't watched anything for the past 6 months.

Going on a big ship tomorrow and will miss the finals of American Idol. Pooo. :(
Hope the trip on the big ship will be fun though.
Let's cross our fingers and toes.

I had a really funny dream last night.
It was about tampons, of all things.
Wahahaha it's quite disgusting.

It's probably due to the tampon discussion I had with Saint yesterday.
Everytime I go on a holiday I get inconvenienced. So 麻烦. Can't go swimming.
OK too much information.

There's a minor earthquake, and cracks are showing in the wall.
Why? Because the foundation isn't that strong in the first place.
Plus the biggest and strongest brick is made of inferior quality. The construction foreman tried to scrimp on the materials.
The structure is not strong enough.
So perhaps it'll be better to pull down the whole structure before it topples and hurts more people in the process.

I feel very fit today!

I went to YCK stadium and jogged 8 rounds, from the outer lane in.
And then I went to the pool and swam 20 laps.
I feel very proud of myself.
You must be thinking, "She's nuts! Why would she want to inflict that kind of physical torture on herself?!"
Especially so when I'm such a proud and self-proclaimed member of the Sit & Rest club.

OK perhaps I'm mad.
But I've decided it's time to raise my level of fitness. And watch my weight and hopefully I can subtract 6000g off my actual weight, x. (I call it x because I have not found the guts to stand on the weighing machine since, oh, about 1 year ago.) I hope I have actually subracted 1000g or 2000g after jogging and swimming for about 2 months. It's quite sad if I haven't managed to lose weight. It just means I'm eating too much for my own good.

I mean, it's quite sad if I'm huffing and panting after climbing one measly flight of steps or looking like a deranged mad woman after running after the bus.
So yeah!
Exercise exercise exercise!

Hahahaha yah especially with my penchant for cursing nowadays.
Of course I practice self-censorship. It's always been an issue I've had to deal with.
Heh heh.
Without self-censorship there'll be lots of !@#$%^&* words around and I'll just ramble on about everything under the sun, whether or not it offends.
Actually to think of it, I think I'm already doing that.
But I don't like offending people so I'll just continue being a hypocrite.

But I'll still continue censoring my thoughts because I don't wish to lay out every single emotion. It makes me feel too vulnerable for my own good and who knows, it might become a point of attack for another person one day.

I get this nagging feeling of being purposely ignored, probably because since my credibility has been conveniently destroyed *glares at Saint* and I am now no better than a vindictive bitch in their hearts and minds. It's not a pleasant feeling. It's like everyone's ganging up against you and I'm left powerless to do anything about it, except to ignore, ignore, ignore and wait till everything blows over. Nevermind. As they say, 明天会更好.

But then again, I'm not made of stone you know?

Sentosa today wasn't too bad. Spent a good half of the day rotting at the beach and the other half watching TV, eating, and travelling.
The rest are watching a midnight movie now as I type while I choose to come home and sleep on my own bed.

Speaking of which, I cannot stand other people sleeping on my bed. Anyone, family included. My bed is my bed so don't sleep on it!!!

I love Grimace! Posted by Hello

Wow! Trying out this new PhotoBlogging thing that Blogger has to offer... Quite cool, though I have no idea how to navigate with the thing yet...
I don't have to rely on boomspeed anymore! Whee!

The above is Grimace! I love Grimace!

Haven't been combing my hair after my bath for the past few days and surprise surprise! When it dries, it doesn't tangle! It's practically as good as combed hair. I love my hair!
Spent the whole day combing International Plaza with another unemployed friend, looking for jobs. Not very successful, I just wished that I had the copy-paste function of a word processor everytime I filled in those forms that ask me for my particulars, educational qualifications, employment history blah blah.
Let my boast about my wonderful typing speed. 67wpm! Wahahahaha ok, show-off.

Then tuition! My cousin has improved to getting a rather satisfactory score of 77 marks for Maths. I probably know how mothers feel when their children make a whole truckload of careless mistakes and they just miss that Band 1 grade. My cousin doesn't check her work, or else she could have easily gotten Band 1. But her English is still attrocious and I have no idea how to rectify that because her fundamentals are not there.

So I heard a rather interesting piece of news from my friend today which we spent hours agonizing over it and lamenting that our "cheap thrill" has been destroyed and that the tables are now turned to make us look like world-class jerks.

I hate those self-proclaiming messages that say that "you will be my friend forever". Especially from insincere people.

All my 怒气 has dissipated. Feels very... it's very hard to put it to words. It's just sad, lah. Very very sad. How people come together with no real feelings at all, probably just for convenience and to feel belonged and wanted, how easily it crumbles and breaks, how fake it all has been. Nervous? About next week? About Monday. About the tension. The 我不甘愿 feelings. The betrayed. The sulky ones.
We'll just end up talking about unimportant things like the weather.
Deep down probably nobody wants to make that commitment to stick through thick and thin, to brave and weather storms, myself included.

This applies to everyone.

We're all just selfish human beings.

Sentosa tomorrow with ex-collegues; a nice bunch, but I just hope I don't feel like a piece of driftwood floating nowhere.

And for the vocab lesson of the day:
It's the word of the day on dictionary.com

abecedarian \ay-bee-see-DAIR-ee-uhn\, noun:
1. One who is learning the alphabet; hence, a beginner.
2. One engaged in teaching the alphabet.

adjective:
1. Pertaining to the letters of the alphabet.
2. Arranged alphabetically.
3. Rudimentary; elementary.

Interesting huh? You never know when useless trivia like this will come in handy.
For eg. If you join Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and this is the million dollar question: "What do you call a person who is engaged in teaching the alphabet?"
And you know the answer! And you get a million bucks!

I tell you, I'm watching too much TV.

Saw this very nice hairdo in Seventeen magazine. It's very nice! I think I'll bring the magazine to the hairdresser's and tell them to make my hair like that.
Hahahaha.
But I don't have money for elaborate hairdos (read: colouring and highlighting) so I guess that'll be on hold till I think I'm rich enough.

Which is probably never, since I'm forever broke.

To digress, friends A, B and C are planning a mega huge birthday party for friends D, E, F, G, and H and they are planning to rent a glow-in-the-dark bowling alley.

I think it's ridiculous.

Tell me if I'm biased, but do you think it's ridiculous too?

I mean, it costs a freaking $1188 to rent the place for 3 hours and besides that what they are planning is very ambitious. We have to liaison between friends of D, E, F, G and H and families of friends D, E, F, G and H and besides that we haven't included the cost of food and other necessary stuff that might come up along the way.

And they're planning to book a hotel suite/room for 2 days, shop till the shops cloes and then karaoke the whole night away.

I think it's just...
A waste of money.
Extravagant and ostentatious.

I mean, I can think of better ways to spend money (like going to Bangkok with ichee), rather than using it to rent some funny glow-in-the-dark bowling alley. And it doesn't really serve the purpose, does it? I mean, what's the point of renting a glow-in-the-dark bowling alley in the first place? For aesthetics?

The whole thing is actually more confusing than it sounds and it's probably going to take one whole month of planning and knowing them, they'll probably never get things done (it's harsh, but it's the truth).

I tried telling friend A that it's not necessary. It's a waste of money! It's just stupid to throw away your money like that. But no, once they have this radical (and usually ambitious and unrealistic idea), they get carried away.
There's a line between being creative and spontaneous and being unrealistic, no?

So anyway, I think I'll splash cold water on their enthusiasm.
Aye, I don't care if they read this.
Read all you want.

I'll tell you all curious phantom readers if this thing works out in the end.

哈哈!感动吧?
虽然早了一天。。。
可是心意还是比时间重要!
(Anyway, I bet by the time you read this, your birthday will be over!)

Psssss... What's flushing the toilet in Mandarin?

Er, er.
I emailed NTU to extend my dateline yesterday.
My dateline was yesterday.
Since I didn't receive any email from them about any extension, I confirmed my choice yesterday and paid up the deposit.
Today, I got an email from them saying that my dateline is extended to 24th May.
So pointless.

Truth be told, I quite like my current unemployed status. I just read, stare at the computer and the TV screen all day long. I love not getting up early.
Well, almost everything but the fact that I'm not getting any income.

Again, I found a temp job that pays $10 an hour. Waaahhhhh. So tempting.
This is better than the other one.

I think too much when I'm vegetating at home.

The dateline's coming. So how? Should I accept NTU's offer?
It's not something which I can see myself doing.
But on the other hand, I cannot afford to be fussy (Especially when you have results like mine).
How.
How.
How.

It's rather interesting to realize who's actually reading and judging you by what's written on a blog isn't it?
I'm also one of those "phantom readers".
There's a lot left unsaid.
Let's leave it at that, until I polish and refine my train of thought.

I really dislike the new Blogger layout.

I don't want to have kids. Ever.

I wanted to say something but I forgot. :(
0 comments
Blogger actually has some halfway decent templates.
But of course, not as nice as my current food template. :) Heh.

I reckon, since I'm so free, I should gather my creativity and start brainstorming for a spanking new layout.
Shall wait for the creative juices to flow then. :)

Kept the cream cheese in the freezer for too long and it grew mould. According to my limited knowledge in Food Chemistry, I thought freezing was one of the ways to preserve food? How come mould could thrive in such low temperatures?
(That sounded a little grammatically incorrect. Oh my language has gone down the drain.)
So now I can't make my slimey jelly-like cheese cake.

I still feel very warm after my bath.

American Idol is...
Americans are...
Today's result is...
FLABBERGASTING.
Why is Jasmine Trias not the one being booted out this week? Huh? Whatever happened to musical justice?
Diana's alright. But a little too all-American. And sometimes I think she has nothing much to show but long, high notes.
My (ex)superior loves Fantasia. I'm not really a fan, but I don't hate her. My impression of her is (slowly) improving.

I'm back to playing Ths Sims (a result of being cooped up in the house for the whole day), and I'm reminded of why I stopped playing it in the first place. The stupid game keeps crashing and it's getting on my nerves. Especially when they got promoted after millions of years or I successfully made love blossom between two individuals and then I get thrown to my desktop and the game is not saved! Arrrrggghhhh!!!

And I realize I keep jumping from topic to topic without any linkage or flow in my posts. Paragraph linkage! Paragraph linkage! My GP tutor would not be proud of this.
Shows how haphazardly my thoughts flow nowadays.

It's freaking early (for me at least) especially when now I'm full-time slacker at home.
I woke up at 10am when full-time slackers like me should wake up at 2pm!
I don't think my body clock will adjust to the crazy rhythm that I used to have last time anymore.

I think I fell asleep without brushing my teeth yesterday.
The last time I did that was when I was still studying, when I was just so dead-tired that I'll fall asleep on the table, on the chair, on the bus, and while staring at my tutorials.
Kinda miss the times when the days were just so packed you wish you had 48hrs in a day. And because you're kept so so so busy you don't think about the passing of days at all. And that's why time seems to pass even faster.

I still don't like Blogger's new layout.
Not nice.

I'm very bored at home. Need to find another job before I fill up my blog with 100 stupid entries every day.

You're chocolate. You're the old soul type, people
feel that they have known you their entire
life. Many often open up to you for they view
you as thoughtful and trustworthy. Although
people trust you, you have a hard time trusting
them. You prefer to keep your feelings bottled
up inside, or display them very quietly. It is
alright to open up every once in a while.

Which kind of candy are you?

Went to the airport today to send dear Dr. Nameless off to faraway Scotland where she'll be there for 3.5 months. Sigh. :(
But it's kinda exciting at the same time. It's a great chance to be independent and self-reliant. And to grow up and be more mature.
I want to take an airplane too!

My superior at work is very very very protective about her son. I can't stand these type of mothers. She acts as though her son is the centre of her universe and I keep hearing little anecdotes about how marvelous her son is, how smart he is at the tender age of 3, how intelligent and adorable he is. -_____-"
I am like, so? My sister is equally smart, if not even more. Hahahaha.
And she goes on and on about how worried she is about the fact that her son is born later in the year and all other kids born earlier in his year have an advantage over him in learning and development.
And that she thinks that my sister's childcare is not good because it looks dirty. Please! This is so ridiculous.
At work, she'll call up the childcare and enquire about her son. Her son this, her son that. Haiyo, I think her son will grow up to be a mommy's boy and he won't learn to be independent at all.

Anyway, en route to my great-grandmother's wake on Thursday, I saw this disgusting old man at the bus stop. He got chased down the bus because the bus was a short-trip bus and it terminates at the bus stop, but I suppose the old man didn't understand that concept. He got of the bus and started hurling vulgarities at the bus driver and mumbling some nonsense in dialect. When the bus driver started driving away, the old man spat at the tyres of the bus.
It was quite a shock to me, because one moment I'm standing there innocently waiting for the bus to come and then suddenly there was this "phui!" and spit was on the tyre. So disgusting.
And after that little scene, the old man started mumbling again and started his little spitting act again.
"Phui!" *mumble mumble*
"Phui!" *mumble somemore*
"Phui! Phui! Phui!"
He kept spitting and spitting and it was so terribly unhygienic.
Bits of saliva flying everywhere and everyone at the bus stop started shifting subtly away from him.
I couldn't wait for my bus to come so that I can get away from this mad person.

It's especially at times like this when I don't feel so brave about being alone.
Even though I pride myself on being independent and a little more street-smart than some certain other people.
Ridiculous scenes and scenarios will come to my mind and then I start imagining that the mad man might suddenly grab me and hold me hostage or that he might come up to me and spit on my face or something.
Sigh. Overactive imagination.

Something's wrong with the tagboard. :(
And er, Happy Mothers' Day?

I'm attending my great-grandmother's wake tomorrow.
She's just short of 4 years to being a century old. That's a very long period to be alive, I think.

Was reading the obituary just now. I like reading obituaries. I think it's a very good way to know more about your extended extended extended family and their names. Then I will try and figure out who is whose son/daughter and the sons/daughters of the son/daughter and try and match names to faces. Sounds confusing? There are alot of nameless faces I see every year when I go hongbao collecting. I just sit there and wait for the hongbaos to come. Hahaha. Anyway, I can't say that I'm very sad because I don't have any fond memories of my great-grandmother, except for maybe a few times when I was young and when we go CNY-visiting and she pushed the Ferrero Rocher into our hands and insisting that we take them.
And can you imagine trying to keep track of all those grandchildren and great-grandchildren when you're that old? I don't think she can recall every single one of us.

Out of curiousity, how do you address your parents' cousins? Are they known as grandcousins?

Tension at work today was so thick you could slice it through with those sharp samurai knives Sharon Au trodded on for charity.
It's really stupid actually. All because of a computer monitor.

American Idol's getting a bit boring now. Somehow when the idol-hopefuls sing I don't get very interested. Probably I don't agree with their style, their stage presence, their mode of performance.
Last year's was better.
And America's Next Top Model is not Elyse, sadly.

And... there's really nothing much besides the fact that I bought my 2nd V-neck top today! It's green. :) Heh.

I feel like eating curry puffs.

There's this disgusting virus swarming around in my computer. It's irritating the hell out of me because it's making my computer sluggish and the machine keeps hanging. I have no idea how to get rid of it.

Well guess what. I got the long-awaited admission letter from NTU and was offered my 3rd or 4th choice. I shall now wait for NUS's letter.

There's this breakfast thingee at MacDonald's tomorrow with the rest of the temp staff, and I don't feel like forfeiting my sleep just to go there and smile and look perky. Eurgh.
I hate mornings.

How.

Yesterday I went to the Body Shop warehouse sale. It was right next to my workplace so I went down with another colleague to take a look. It was really cheap! Was just grabbing things that were of absolutely no use at all but I guess that's the effect of sales on any normal sane person.

Today I'm going to vegetate at home and watch TV. Teevee teevee teevee teevee and more teevee.
But feels funny being stuck at home though.
I just don't want Monday to come so soon.
Work is so routine.

Bintan was a very interesting experience. I came home and realized I looked a little burnt and black and my sister says that my face looks swollen and fat, presumably from eating too much over there. But actually all we did was mainly eat, eat, eat, sleep, watch a lot of TV, play cards, and eat somemore. And cycle, swim, hang around at the beach and leisure centre. Hahaha.

Anyhow, I am very annoyed with the lack of zest and enthusiasm for learning on my cousin's part. It's very irritating. She is not interested in learning at all. So what's the point of tutoring her when everything I say goes in one ear and out the other? It's such a pain tutoring a disinterested student. It makes me feel like slapping her.
Hah.

Happy Labour Day! I'm awake much too early. It feels funny.
