It all started with a birthday greeting a Primary school classmate left on my wall on Facebook, and the idea to have a class gathering (after 13 long years!) finally came into fruition! It took about 2.5 months of planning (and procrastinating) and I am proud to say that I was the main organizer for this! I spearheaded it! Positive action verbs! Woohoo!

Gotta thank Facebook for the ease of contacting people and linking people up.

Lunch was initially awkward - in typical Singaporean fashion, 80% of the attendees were late - but it was soon salvaged by the arrival of the gregarious ones. Over the course of idle chit-chat and interview-like questions where everyone politely probed about each other's choice of earning money, I found out that 2 of them used to date (!!!) and surprisingly, none of us present were engaged, married, or had kids. And everyone concurred that it was indeed surprising!

Some I haven't seen at all ever since I left Primary School!

Oh! And I met this cute Korean guy in my last Korean lesson for the level! Our teacher invited some Koreans students over and we hosted a small party for them. We also had to prepare questions to ask them and half the time I was just stuttering in broken Korean.

And I spent unnecessary money buying 3 more dresses today. I have enough new clothes to last me from 初一到初四,no actually more, because some I bought without planning to wear it for CNY. Sigh. SELF-CONTROL PLEASE! And I also realized that there is only 1 more weekend left to CNY, and I haven't done any spring cleaning yet! Which means I have to clear my table and etc etc etc next weekend!

Anyway, I think I kinda like my brown hair now. :)

Gahhh what is this! Both items that I wanted from lilypirates are pending already! I commented at 8.0Xpm and the launch was at 8pm but I still didn't get the items! Faint!

At least I received my daffodil yellow dress today! Gonna wear it for CNY! Happy colours! :)

Met up with my new boss (or rather, he's the acting boss) and today marks the first day where I finally got to dip a toe into my new job! It's gonna be a steeeeeeep learning curve.

My new boss also brought us out for lunch. In my 3 years there, this is probably the first time a boss has treated me to lunch. -___-

Anyway my new department is TINY! My department strength currently stands at 2.5 - me, boss, and lady who is with us on a part-time basis. So basically it seems like we are running a 2.5-man show.

Had a very good dinner yesterday at Ikoi. Unlimited flow of sashimi! Oh man all sashimi lovers will die of bliss. It's too pricey to have it as a regular affair but it's well worth the money spent! 7 of us had about 5 plates of assorted sashimi and another plate of swordfish and octopus. Plus a lot of other assorted stuff. I am missing the sashimi already!!!!

Some food pics to whet your appetite:

*Eyes glazes over*

Did I mention that there is a huge range of tempura to choose from?! I didn't get to eat my shitake tempura in the end :(

Complimentary seafood soup

Too busy eating to take any other photos! Hahaha. Man I want to eat more swordfish!

Reunion dinner - almost!

Oh yes I am also doing some rather drastic alterations to my looks. I dyed my hair (DIY bubble foam) hurhurhurhur. And I got a new pair of spectacles that cost $400 but it does funky things like turn dark in the presence of UV rays.

Feedback about my new hair colour has been mostly positive or neutral - whew. I am slightly relieved. I'm too used to seeing myself with black hair! At least this Cassis Berry beats the invisible Sensual Brown years back.

New year new look new job new me! Hubba hubba hubba!

Allured by the sheer cuteness of Korean stationery! Love the stickers, so perfectly charming and adorable, yet wonderfully useless. And the funky post-it pads brightens up one's day! Hahaha. (I succumbed and bought some.)

Ah... online shopping. :) Love it. :) I wish I had a money printing machine at home or something.

I keep forgetting to take pictures for Project 365, it seems that it is not really very representative of my day at the moment. I would look back and think, darn! I should have taken a picture of this this this. And on some days I really have nothing to take because half the time I'm sitting at my work desk and staring at my computer screen, and the other half I'm sitting at home and staring at my computer screen or staring at my iPhone. Haha.

Oh well. I bought a savings policy from my so-called personal banker from Citibank and she's gonna give me a can of abalone. Hahahaha. Aaaaandd... I'm still waiting for the relevant people to tell me when I can officially transfer!!! Arghhhh!!

I've decided to embark on my own Project 365: Take a photo a day and see your life in a whole new way. I got inspired by a colleague who did her own 365 for 2010 and it seemed like a pretty cool way to remember your days. Especially after witnessing how quickly 2010 flew by and feeling like I've not done anything at all, it would be interesting to look back and recall how my 2011 went through a series of pictures.

Of course, seeing that I am no pro photographer, the photos I take on-the-go with my lousy 3MP iPhone camera with no flash and no zoom will not be of stunning, picturesque quality. Just capturing bits and snippets of memories will be enough for me. Just like what the wizened photographer said in 下一站,幸福: 摄影 是让瞬间 变成永恒的魔法。(Btw why is this show so tragic and depressing?! Watching star-crossed lovers and their trials and tribulations really pains me.)

One week into this and I realize that most of the photos I take are of food! Hahaha. I guess this shows how my life revolves around food! I resolve to take more interesting quirky stuff that is representative of my day!

You may check it out if you are interested in the mundane aspects of my life: http://hahaheehee365in2011.blogspot.com. As if my blog is not mundane and boring enough hahahahahaha. Nothing like a new year to start something new! :D

After KTV yesterday, I now realize why I stopped listening to English and Chinese songs. The lyrics are so depressing! To prevent one from being too emo after listening to such depressing songs, it's better to listen to something that you don't understand.

I just discovered the "Song of 2010" in 2011. That is what happens when you listen exclusively to K-pop. You get disconnected from what the rest of the world is listening to.

It's called "Love The Way You Lie" - Eminem feat. Rihanna. It was with some kind of morbid fascination as we watched the MV during KTV yesterday.

It's an oddly powerful song. I guess it's the angsty rap. 总之,打女人的男人就是贱男人。

We (or rather, I) also discovered a whole lot of other songs and music videos promoting the hedonistic lifestyle. It's all about parties, booze and sex nowadays. And like we concurred, folks nowadays don't even try to be subtle or vaguely suggestive about it. It's all about being explicit and in-your-face. I even saw a flashed boob in the Black Eyed Peas' I Gotta Feeling. Omo.

Anyway I had a fabulous start to the year with lots of good food but I'm rather sad that today is the last day of my week-long break. The worse thing is that I feel like I haven't even done anything much! I need another week-long break! Booooo. :(

Some good times :)

Some good food :)

At Chilli's

At Hediard, this small cafe along Tanglin Road. Might be French.

Thai food along Purvis Street

Ending the day with desserts at 满记

One of my colleagues at work had this 365 project for 2010 - it was like a photo journal where she took a photo for every single day of the year. Hmmm I'm wondering if I should embark on something similar?

Anyhow I'm going to make the best out of this Sunday! Tons to do! Need to iron! Need to jog! Need to email my Korean teacher and I've been procrastinating!!!
