I just caught a male artiste lip-synching to Jason Mraz's I'm Yours on the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown. Sorry, but the lip-synching is very obvious and a bit forced. O.o I think there's a girl on Youtube who can sing it much better. Live.
Usually I don't really watch the Countdown shows but this year I'm paying a bit more attention to it hahaha just because and I see that Ch 5 has all these trailers advertising for the up and coming acquired movies and variety/drama programmes in 2009...

I still have an entry on Day 7 of my holiday saved in my drafts... been wanting to complete the entire chronicle before 2008 ends haha but I think I'll procrastinate till next year.
This year I really haven't been blogging much (by my rambly standards) because I stopped thinking and suddenly I stopped composing entries in my head. HOW?
I could attribute part of the reason to work and how it takes up so much of my time that I don't have time to muse, ponder and observe.
I think that's extremely nasty - it's like my brain has stopped doing the intellectual thing. It's a bit sad actually. I feel like I cannot WRITE well anymore!
How should I conquer this?
Okay I'm gonna go sleep. We get a half-day off tomorrow! Oh, have I mentioned how much I love the holidays? About 349 times I think. :D
And I'm on leave on Friday so tomorrow is like a pseudo Friday! Only tons better coz of the self-imposed long weekend. :)

Wahlao this afternoon I suddenly became a call-centre and my phone was ringing off the hook. Thanks to my inexperience in handling such situations, I messed up and I predict that come Monday, I will have to deal with unhappy people who will confirm scold me. Sian. I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS! :)
This is the first time that I'm spending the month of December at work, instead of being on holiday (oh, the halcyon days of youth...) and I must say that because of this, I am more appreciative of Christmas and New Year now! (And public holidays in general.) Before this year, Christmas was just another holiday in the December holidays, but this year with this annoying thing called Work, Christmas seems to be a whole lot Bigger. With purchasing power and the bonus month, I get to splurge a little on myself and enjoy gatherings with my friends! Yay, it's been a feel-good month!
So like how kept I repeating myself yesterday to Gillian - I love the holidays! (And my new slippers.) I think nobody really feels like doing much productive work these 2 weeks - all I can think of now is the next half day off on New Year's Eve! Am in a generally good mood coz it's the festive season and all, and the work week is short. People are genial and cordial - even if they aren't, I shall not bother with these miserable grinches. Haha.
Christmas Eve at work reminds me of another occasion where people give each other chocolate, candies and little presents - Valentine's Day! Christmas is like the grown-up version of the V-day/Friendship Day thing that we used to do as students. Youngsters spend lots of money on V-day to celebrate their friendship/seek affirmation within their circle of friends and adults spend lots of money on Christmas to buy useless stuff to give people so as to pave the road for a better working relationship ahead.
'course, it is nice to receive tokens of appreciation for theshitty work we've all put in for the year, and I am very happy to get all these chocs and candies from my colleagues who do nothing else but treat us like a one-stop information counter... okay before I sound like a disgruntled employee, I shall reiterate that I LOVE THE CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR SEASON!
The weather's cool and all, doesn't it feel more Christmassy? I am spending a rather relaxed Christmas at home - save the for ironing - and tomorrow is Friday already! WOOHOO! Looking forward to the BBQ with the Gassy girls this Sunday. That would make the 3rd BBQ that I've had in December. Think of the carcinogens I've been ingesting!

'twas a very fruitful and good long weekend! It started off with Thursday night - my ex-internship colleagues had a Christmas KTV thing but I must say that it was one of the most dissatisfying KTV sessions I went to. Coz everyone wasn't very high. Haha. Took Friday off and went for a facial, did some Christmas shopping and had dinner with Gassy at Aston's at 6th Avenue, before adjourning to the Marina @ Keppel Bay for some chit-chat. It's a very pretty place. Quiet and serene with the cool breeze blowing.
Saturday was the hotel stay at Grand Copthorne Waterfront with Ichee, and in the evening I went for a family BBQ to stuff my face before going back to the hotel at night. Played bridge (as usual) and we were all tickled by Xiuhui's game skills. Yanzz finally showed up and brought News!!! But she disappeared after a while.
Got home in the afternoon today. I think I must have spent a few hundred this weekend alone. Darn, there goes my bonus!!! ><

I'm trying out Google Chrome. Hmmm. Not sure if I like it enough to switch browsers since Firefox pretty much suits my needs. And Google Chrome doesn't have the useful add-ons that Firefox has. The only function I like is that Google Chrome has what it calls "crash control", which means the whole browser won't shut down if one tab hangs.
Think I'll still stick with Firefox for the time being.
It's the end of year awards season in Korea. I'm probably going to waste a lot of time this month watching all these award ceremony and performance clips.
Shinhwa won a Bonsang at the Golden Disk Awards yesterday. :)
I'm like a proud momma. Haha. :) I figure this will probably be the last time in a long while that they will win something under the name of "Shinhwa".

Day 6
Repulse Bay - Aberdeen Harbour - Avenue of Stars - Tsim Sha Tsui
Our tour came with a complimentary half day tour in Hong Kong. We joined another tour group bright and early in the morning and they brought us for a dim sum breakfast.

The tour brought us to places I usually wouldn't consider going if I were to travel free & easy in Hong Kong. First stop - Repulse Bay!

If you walk further along the beach, there is this place with a temple of sorts and I think a God of Fortune or something like that.

We saw groups of people trying to throw coins into the dragon's mouth and had a go at it too
There's also this thing called the Longevity Bridge, or 长寿桥.
Legend has it that if you cross the bridge once, you add 3 days to your life! That explains why we're all holding 3 fingers up LOL (actually we crossed it twice, so that's 6 days!)

Next up was another touristy stop - I think this place was called Aberdeen or something (?). It has this Jumbo sign and a big ship. We only stayed there briefly since we didn't board the ship.

Subsequently, the tour guide brought us to places like a 中药店 and a shop selling jewelry. Didn't buy anything there. And that ends our half day tour. Quite short eh? I think the only place worth going was Repulse Bay.
Bus dropped us off near The Avenue of Stars and we took the chance to take some pictures.

Then we cabbed over to buy ferry tickets to Macau for the next day before adjourning to 糖朝 for lunch. I raved about the porridge before when I was there last year, and the porridge did not disappoint again! It is simply fantastic!!! YUM! I think I have to eat that porridge every time I go to Hong Kong from now on. Hahaha.

Since we didn't get to eat wanton mee during lunch, we popped into a random 茶餐厅 to satisfy our craving! The dumplings were very very good! Wah just thinking of it is making me drool.

Since it was China's National Day (1 Oct), we decided to skip The Peak and stay put to enjoy the fireworks at Victoria Harbour.

Check out the crowd!!! We helped to make up the statistics! We were 4 out of 300,000 (can't remember the exact figure now) at Victoria Harbour that night!
Our night ended pretty early that day! We left before the fireworks ended so as to avoid the huuuggeeee crowd later.
Blogging about this trip rather belatedly is making my wanderlust kick in - oh, I can't wait for my next holiday already!

To the airport! - Landed in Hong Kong! - To the hotel! - Toilet Bowl Cafe - Mongkok - Temple Street - Running around in Central trying to catch the shuttle back
Bright, early and bleary eyed, we're on our way to the Taoyuan International Airport to catch our flight to Hong Kong, land of dim sum!
We're happy that we're escaping from the rain and wind!
After landing...

Aaaannnd.... we're finally here! All the way in NEW TERRITORIES (very ulu, it's like the suburbs and very far from the city centre).
Our hotel... and it's BRIGHT AND SUNNY! ^^
And well, as much as the location was not very ideal, the rooms were spacious and comfy! Better than the ones we had in Taiwan.
Now we start on our Hong Kong adventure!
Since our hotel was so out of the way, we had to take the LRT to the MTR station to get to the city centre. Their LRT isn't like the LRT we have here! They run on tracks on the ground. And the stations have no gates at all!

Our first stop was the Toilet Bowl Cafe! We found out that they had a branch in Hong Kong too. After walking along this street that sells all these basins and taps and toilet bowls, we finally found it!

After that very full lunch/dinner, we roamed the very crowded streets of Hong Kong! First off to Mongkok for 女人街 I think...
We figured that it was so crowded coz the next day was a public holiday there (China's National Day).
And we wanted to go to Yee Shun Milk Company for the fabulous 钝奶... only to find out that it was sold out! :(
Had steamed egg instead
What followed after that was Temple Street (if I recall correctly). We got distracted by all these little trinkets and souvenirs and missed our 11pm shuttle that would bring us back to our hotel. I still remember running all around the Central area, trying to figure out where to board the shuttle. LOL.
Oh well, no choice but to drag take public transport back. The journey back would take us an hour!!

Gotta tap your octopus card against these machines when you want to board the LRT coz there are no gates. It's all up to the commuter to be honest!
